“Melissa was wonderful taking care of our puppy for the day. I accidentally scheduled the wrong day and she was so understanding and flexible. Her house has a fenced back yard which is really nice for a dog to run around. Highly recommend and will use her again when we are in the Tahoe area.”

“Teeda is amazing!! If she is available during the times you need for your pet, book her! She is amazing! Literally felt like family watching our 2 dogs, I felt so confident leaving them with her and she was so kind and accommodating with our needs and during our family vacation. I can’t say good enough things about her! We will book again if we are in town!”

“My dogs first sitter & I had a great experience, awesome communication and i got updates throughout which I really appreciated. I felt super safe leaving him with leilah! Will definitely be coming back to her next time around :)”

“Stephanie and her partner were such amazing pet sitters for Honey, a 6 month old puppy. Her own pups welcomed her into their crew and the fun started right away. I got a text with pictures a few minutes after I left their house the first day, and saw pictures of Honey having fun. I received many wonderful pics both days we booked, and they were so so accommodating with last minute requests . Stephanie is quick with text responses. Honey came home so tired and based on the pics, had a ton of fun. I know she was well cared for because she walked right in the second day. I highly recommend Stephanie if you’re looking for a trustworthy sitter while in South Lake Tahoe. We will be back !”

“Tim T. is amazing! He got us out of a real bind. We were away from home for a wedding. We found out the day before the wedding that we could not leave our dogs in our hotel room. By some miracle, Tim happened to be available with less than a day notice. He picked up our dogs at the hotel. Usually one of our dogs takes a while to warm up to new people. We were nervous but Tim is some sort of dog whisperer! In no time at all, the dogs were in his car and off for a day of fun. They spent the day taking a drive, then a hike, and then relaxing in the lap of luxury at Tim's house. We got photos throughout the day and it was obvious that Tim was the dogs' new favorite person. We were able to enjoy the wedding stress free. Tim returned the dogs to us late at night. It couldn't have been easier. Our only regret is that we live too far away to make Tim our regular sitter. If he's available, don't hesitate! We'd give Tim more stars if we could!”

“Laura and Christian did an incredible job taking care of Hanoi for the day. They both have a wonderful energy, same goes to their two beautiful dogs. They were sitting another pup at the same time, who matched perfectly Hanoi’s vibe. They took them to the beach, and made me feel jealous with all the vids and photos they sent of them having a blast. Thank you, will definitely repeat if I need daycare services again soon!”

“Kelly is AMAZING. She dog-sat my 3 month old puppy Layla and did a fantastic job. Layla didn't even want to leave at the end of the day. Kelly took the time to do a meet and greet and took lots of notes. She took Layla to a fenced in yard and played with her for hours. She gives all of her attention to her client which i really appreciated.”

About: We hit the trails daily and have plenty of safe, secure space to exercise your pup. I'm currently taking on some gig work to supplement my grad school aid as I finish my degree. Time is as precious as the angels by our side, and I’ll treat your pup like my own. For your peace of mind, I maintain an active Wilderness EMT certification, and my trail kit always includes canine-specific tourniquets and first aid. Flexible schedule. We prefer early, especially before a summer crowd, so that there is some safe space for everyone to run off leash and feel the freedom we all deserve. Selectively accepting a few well mannered companions. We'll keep a good eye. I have a couple spare tracking collars if that is a concern for off leash activity.
“Teresa was fantastic! We reached out just three days before needing care for our two dogs, and she was incredibly responsive and easy to communicate with from the start. She sent us photo updates while we were away, which we really appreciated and gave us peace of mind. We were visiting from out of town, but we come to the area quarterly and will absolutely be using Teresa again in the future. Highly recommend!”

About: I’ve always had pets and been around animals since I was young. Since moving to Tahoe I watch animals on a weekly basis, and enjoy every minute! I work remotely and I am able to watch dogs throughout the day. The remote job also allows be to travel and be more attentive to the pets. I am very big on attention and activity. I enjoy walking dogs and playing with them. Or if they prefer to rest and relax, making sure they are comfortable. Either way, understanding the needs of the dog and tailoring the care to them.
About: As lifelong dog owners ourselves, we understand how important it is to know your pet is safe, loved, and well cared for while you're away. We have experience volunteering at the humane society, and have spent the last few years pet sitting dogs with different personalities, routines, and needs. Whether they need long walks, playtime, or just some cuddles on the couch, our goal is to stick to your dog's normal routine and treat them like one of our own. Dan and I both work in the restaurant industry, which gives us a flexible schedule. We work 3–4 days a week and often work opposite shifts, so one of us is usually home or available throughout the day. If we do work the same day, our shifts are in the evening, so we still have the entire morning and afternoon to spend with your pet. We make it a priority to provide plenty of attention, playtime, and love so your pet feels comfortable with us. We want every pet to feel at home while in our care. We have a fenced-in backyard and live just minutes from the marsh and beach, which gives us plenty of opportunities for walks, outdoor adventures, and playtime. If your dog prefers to be the only pet or does not do well with other dogs, we are happy to provide care in your home instead. We understand that every owner has their own routines and expectations, and we will always respect your instructions and your pet’s needs. At our home, dogs are welcome on the couch, are surrounded by toys, and can hang out in backyard to sunbathe and roam free. Whether your pet is staying with us or we are caring for them in their own home, our goal is to create a safe, trusting, and stress-free environment for both owner and doggo.
“Picking Adam and Lauren was a great decision. They entertained my energetic dog while we were busy and i got pictures of the fun things she did. Getting in touch with Adam was super easy and they are super helpful. I will definitely want them when we come back to Tahoe.”

About: I've owned Australian Cattle Dogs (red/blue heelers) my entire life. My beloved most recent 12 year old Red Heeler named Austin passed away last summer. I now travel too much for work to consider getting another pet myself, but would love to borrow some to get my four legged furry fix. I am self employed professional photographer with a flexible weekly schedule and I work from home, except when I am out photographing clients. I would love to be a trusted fill-in for your standards of interaction with your pal if our schedules align. Please note that I am NOT a good fit for pandemic animals that cannot be left unattended or have separation anxiety. If your dog cannot be left alone for a few hours at a time you'll need to look elsewhere. I have a fenced yard and a dog door for access. I would prefer to care for dogs in my home but open to house sitting also.
“Jan was AMAZING! I’d give 6 stars if I could. Jan took Toby to the beach and sent us loads of photos. Toby was exhausted when we got home(as any dog owner knows, this is a good thing!). Also shows that Jan was out and about with our little one, which we are also super appreciate of! We will use Jan again the next time we are in Tahoe.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Camp Richardson
We had such a wonderful experience! Walle spent the day with her while we were in Lake Tahoe, and I couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter. She was incredibly kind, responsive, and kept me updated throughout the day with photos and videos, which gave me so much peace of mind. Walle had the best time playing with the other dogs—it was like a fun little outdoor daycare! She also took him on a walk and made sure he got plenty of exercise and attention. It was clear she genuinely cared about him and treated him like one of her own. I would absolutely trust her with Walle again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable pet sitter in the Lake Tahoe area!

Jessica was absolutely amazing!! She took such great care of my dog while I attended a wedding away from home in Tahoe. She sent me multiple updates, took my dog for a walk and made my dog feel right at home! She was so quick to respond to my messages. She treated my dog like she was her own. 10/10 recommend Jessica to care for your pup!!

Emily provides a safe and comfortable environment for our pup plus a nice backyard to play in. We can always tell how well our pup is cared for when we make a return visit and he runs to the front door wagging his tail. Great communication and sharing of updates, definitely will use her again when we visit South Tahoe.

As of September 2026, there are 161 sitters on Rover offering Doggy Day Care across Camp Richardson. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Camp Richardson commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 161 sitters in Camp Richardson, 92% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
