“Kylie went above and beyond for Athena our 1 yr. Golden. Many walks, her company and lovin’ made it easy for us to leave her home. She sent daily pictures and updates that were so appreciated while away. She even spent nights here. Then we came home to clean sheets and towels! What a great choice we made in Kylie!”

“I cannot recommend Lauren enough! From the moment we met, I felt completely at ease leaving our dog, Picasso, in her care. We were gone for over a week and she was incredibly attentive and followed all of our instructions regarding medications, feeding and walks perfectly. It gave us so much peace of mind while we were away and when we came home we could tell our little guy was happy and had been well-cared for. We will absolutely be booking with her again!"”

About: I’ve owned large dogs my whole life and this struck a passion in me earlier on to get into the hobby of dog training. I got so good that people even began to ask me to help train their new puppies. Additionally, I also ran my own dog walking business throughout the last 4 years and now that I am graduated I would love to continue working with dogs while I save money for college! Currently, I am free all day every day until I start college in the spring. This leaves me with a completely open availability to help care for your beloved pets! I will follow the instructions given to me by each pet owner exactly as they would like. I treat each pup and kitty with kindness and patience always. With my dogs they are spoiled with lots of walks, treats, and lots of fetch to help them get out their energy and if your pup has some extra energy i’d love to play with them until they are content and tired out! I always make sure to message each pet owner when I arrive and when I leave to make sure they know their fur baby is in good hands!
“This was our first time using a 2-day house sitter for our two small dogs through Rover and only realized on the first day of service that our expectations for care was different than Krystina's so it caused us some stress and concern. While we did have a meet and greet the week before, we somehow had mixed messages over the type of care we were looking for and she delivered. In the end all was fine and Krystina took great care of our house and our pets and was responsive through texting while we were gone. I would definitely recommend clearly defining your expectations and requesting she defines her expectations prior to care.”

“Casandra was amazing! I asked her to pup sit last minute over the holiday and she responded promptly and took great care of my dogs! Plenty of updates and pictures while we were away.”

About: I am an ARMY veteran. I love dogs and they love me. I would rescue them all if I could. They are definitly angels on Earth. I am a very active person. I love being outside and or being around dogs. They deserve the absolute best in life. So I will do my part to make them happy. I make sure they are well taken care of. Depending on what wash individual dog needs. They all have different personality types just like humans.
“Robert, thank you so much for taking care of Siena! It is comforting to know that she wasn't alone for long periods of time and also had someone to play ball with! Truly appreciate it! When we need a sitter in the future, we would like you again to care for Siena,”

“Daniel was an incredible pet sitter! He stayed at our home for a week and cared for our 2 dogs, 2 cats and the backyard chickens. He sent us daily updates and was very friendly and reliable. We are so grateful for Daniel’s help while we were away. We know who to ask next time we need a pet sitter!”

“Marilyn did a great job with our old dog (14 years) and 2 cats. Our 10 year old cat can be picky, but he likes Marilyn. She took the dog for short walks and gave lots of love to the kitten.”

“Shannon & Miguel were absolutely awesome watching our pups. We got consistent updates and pictures throughout the entire time and I look forward to booking with them again!”

“Overall, WONDERFUL experience! We had a last minute day trip up to the mountains for a graduation and she was able to watch our pup for the day. Great communication and no worries about how our little Leia was treated. I highly recommend her for any upcoming bookings you need!”

“Oh my goodness, Brook is the absolute best!! Our pets loved her! She sent updates, videos, and pictures which allowed us to feel at sick ease while we were to know that they were loved and well taken care of! We are definitely going to use her again and highly recommend!!”

About: Dogs only want to give and receive love. They are, perhaps, Gods greatest creation. I've worked at a Veterinarian office/Doggy Day Care nearly 5 years, caring for all ages and sizes. I volunteer at the Sheriffs Animal Control Shelter in Supply. I believe dogs enrich the lives of the people around them. I've always been able to bond with dogs. A mutual trust has always come easy. They're all beautiful, and people could learn a lot from them. They make me laugh every day. Dogs will always be safe and happy with me watching over them. I wiil provide great companionship and a soft, warm touch while you're away. I guarantee that you will feel completely secure and confident with my abilities to maintain a safe, fun experience for your dog. Having someone you trust to care for your dog is invaluable. I will be that person. We love to be at home. Being on a walk or hanging outside is what we enjoy. I work at a doggy daycare and can fit pet care at home easily. Daily care of our dog is walking, feeding, brushing hair and teeth, love and cuddles, and of course playing games. We love to take our pebbles with us everywhere. We will give the same care to every dog we meet.
“Deb was wonderful! Our rescue dog got comfortable with her real fast and slept most of the time. The peace of mind that our separation anxiety dog had a sitter he felt safe with was phenomenal. Thank you!”

About: I've been surrounded by animals my entire life and caring for them is something I truly love. I have three cats of my own, including one with special needs, so I'm experienced with providing extra patience and medical care when needed. I also fostered for a dog rescue, where I cared for dogs of all sizes, ages, and personalities—from playful puppies to senior dogs, anxious pups to confident companions, and those with special needs. I'm comfortable administering medications and always strive to make every pet feel safe, loved, and right at home. Pet care is already a big part of my everyday life! I’m used to planning my days around the needs of my own three cats, including one who requires extra attention, and I love creating a routine where pets feel comfortable and cared for. Whether it’s walks, playtime, medication, meals, or extra cuddles, I enjoy making time for each pet’s individual needs. Caring for animals isn’t just something I do, it’s a part of my lifestyle. Whether your pet is staying with me or I’m caring for them in their own home, my goal is simple: keep them happy, comfortable, and feeling loved. I follow their normal routines, from meals and medications to walks, playtime, and cuddle time. I’m comfortable with all personalities, from confident pups to shy cats, energetic puppies to senior pets who need a little extra patience. Every pet gets personalized care, because they’re family, not just a booking.

We are new full-time residents of the area and were a bit anxious about making new care arrangements for our pets while we travel. Kylie was recommended by family members, and we would highly recommend her as well. At our meet and greet she won over our very protective (and very stubborn) 75 lb puppy. Communication with her was excellent, before and during our trip. She eventually also made friends with our two very antisocial cats, which few people have been able to do. We felt completely at ease leaving our pets in her care and have already booked our next pet care needs with Kylie and look forward to working with her again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Calabash on Rover is $62.63 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Calabash walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Calabash maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Calabash choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Calabash. On Rover:
- 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
