“Karrie was great to deal with. She responded to messages fast and once we arrived accepted my dog into her home. She sent updates on how the stay was going and pictures. My dog had a good time. Hope to use her again.”

“This is our second time booking John and Lynda and they are absolutely amazing! Our girl gets spoiled there and I love that they send daily pictures of our girl. Thanks again for loving our girl.”

“I will be booking these sitters whenever I travel. My little Yorkie had a strange life before I adopted her recently. She is scared of everything, became glued to my hip the moment I got her, and hadn’t lived a normal dog life. She is afraid to trust others. I hated to have to take her from her new home so soon and leave her with someone else. But Pratheeksha and Nilaykumar were fantastic! Extremely patient as she slowly warmed up to them. They sent me pictures and notes frequently so I could see she was doing well. I was only gone two days and while she was excited to see me, she clearly had enjoyed her stay. She hates my car because every time she gets in it she has new scary experiences - vets and going to strangers homes. I knew she had been happy with her stay because her excitement at seeing me was short-lived when she realized we were getting in my car. She turned right around and ran back up the steps preferring to stay with her new friends rather than face the unknown horrors the car could bring! 😁 Fortunately for her - the trip was straight home. And as soon as her belongings were back in their places, she quickly returned to trusting me. So I knew her time away had been good. (And full of the one on one attention she needs!)”

“Smokey had a blast hanging with Lacy, Forrest and Blake! We rec’d updates and sweet photos of their time together. I know Smokey is already looking forward to his next visit. Would highly recommend Lacy.”

“Our dog Aspen was excited to be back when Julia kindly took our short notice request for another stay. Lots of pictures and videos showing Aspen making herself at home! Thank you!”

“Rebecca was accommodating to my cat's difficulties in new spaces and had a nice private space where she could hang out. Friendly, kind service, I would definitely recommend Rebecca for boarding :)”

“The second time we've booked with Shavon and both times she's been great! She takes great care of our dog Hazel and provides lots of updates. We're thankful as when we're away on vacation it's nice for our dog too get a little vacation off her own!”

“Wenyu and his partner are wonderful people who took great care of my dog, Rex. We met at the park for a visit prior to confirming the booking to ensure it was a good fit, and it was clear immediately that it was. After five days away Rex was his normal self. I would not hesitate to book again.”

“Rocky seemed really happy & played out when we fetched him. She also sent a detailed evening update which settled my fur-mama heart. Super grateful for the care she provided!”

“Olena was amazing with Ben! From the pictures that she had provided regularly during Ben’s stay at Olena’s home, it was obvious that he was calm, relaxed and happy to be there. Thank you very much Olena!! Ben would love to spend more time with you in a future:)”

“Lauren was absolutely fantastic with our dog, Kevin! From the moment we met, she was friendly and welcoming. Kevin had an amazing time with her, and it was clear they had lots of fun together. Lauren sent plenty of photos, keeping us updated throughout his stay. Highly recommend!”

“Lindsey and her kiddos were amazing! They truly love and care for Murphy and he had such a great time! Definitely would be rebooking with her when we are away again!”

“Sarah is absolutely wonderful. She took good care of Mogy. Mogy is not sociable with other dogs. He had gotten into fights with cats. It was the first time leaving him with a sitter. I was worried about him. Sarah kept me posted letting me know Mogy was doing well. He had no problems playing with her dog and cats. Mogy was happy and energetic when I picked him up.”

“Gisele was calm and patient. She was very good for a senior dog with some anxiety. We have used rover before, but our last experience left our pup seeming depressed. Gisele was our last try for this app, and we were not disappointed. Would have her watch our dog again. Thanks Gisele”

“Alyssa was amazing! I was so nervous to meet & greet with her as our one pug can be nippy at new people. We arrived at her house and our pug’s tail was wagging so much! We booked her for one day and our fur babies were well treated. They loved her deck & fenced backyard! Will definitely rebook with her again!!”

About: Hi there, I’m Murph! I have 15 years of experience taking care of cats, dogs, rats, and even chickens. Over the last 3 years I have become the designated go-to sitter to many different pets in my neighbourhood. When anyone comes to me in need of a pet sitter, both short term and long term, I’m quick to spring into action and open my doors to their furry friends. Throughout the years I have personally had pets with medical conditions from severe anxiety in dogs and cats, common lung infections in rats, and epilepsy in senior dogs— so I do have experience with different medical emergencies and medication administration. That being said, if your furry friends need care I do not have personal experience with I am more than willing to learn, and to learn quickly! Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions about my experience! As a freelancer I am home 24/7 working on various projects— so needless to say, your furry friend will never be left alone while in my care! I never host animals from different families at the same time, I want each animal to have a safe and comfortable stay while visiting my home! I do not have a backyard, but I live in a nice part of town to take long walks that will allow us to avoid heavy traffic flow. I’m also open to going to an outdoor rink to throw a ball around if that’s something you would like me to do!

About: I grew up on a farm taking care of animals and have been caring for my own dog for the past 5 years. I also occasionally care for friends' and family's pets as well. I am a student, and I work full-time, but I am available on the weekends and in the evenings to walk and care for animals. I have my own dog that will keep your pet company and will be home to play and ensure your pet is cared for as my own.
About: I've been looking after pets for over 2 decades. For family, friends and others. I am a former vet tech for 15 years I have 2 of my own dogs. I work from home so I am here all day. I am able to let the dogs out multiple times a day in my fully fenced backyard I love sitting and cuddling and giving attention. My fully fenced backyard ensures that no dog gets out of the yard. Kimberly was great! She was so sweet with Lizzy when we had our meet & greet. Lizzy felt comfortable with her instantly. She was so flexible with my pick up schedule and she provided daily updates with pictures and videos throughout Lizzy’s stay! Lizzy was well taken care of!

Diana was so great with my 4 month old puppy. She was patient, calm, and genuinely caring, which made me feel really comfortable leaving her. Her own dog is also amazing and so good with other dogs, which really helped my puppy settle in and feel at ease. I picked up a very happy pup and wouldn’t hesitate to have Diana watch her again. Highly recommend.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
