“John and Lynda took wonderful care of Bloom and Winnie for two days, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. They were kind, communicative, and kept us updated with messages about the dogs’ activities and how they were doing, which gave us great peace of mind. I was a little worried about Winnie because she’s a bit whiny and loves to snuggle (and definitely thinks she’s entitled to the whole bed!), but they embraced her personality with nothing but patience, love, and compliments about what good dogs they both were. It was clear they genuinely cared for them. We also really appreciated their availability, especially since we booked a few months in advance. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and will absolutely be keeping in touch with John and Lynda for future pet care. Thank you both for treating Bloom and Winnie like family!”

“Lindsey and her kiddos were amazing! They truly love and care for Murphy and he had such a great time! Definitely would be rebooking with her when we are away again!”

“Our dog Aspen was excited to be back when Julia kindly took our short notice request for another stay. Lots of pictures and videos showing Aspen making herself at home! Thank you!”

“We had very good experience with Shavon. This was the first time we leave our dog behind for a week. Shavon took care of him very professionally.Specially he got a hot spot . She took him to the vet and gave him medication on time. He feels better in 2 days. She keeps sending us photos, videos and all the updates. I highly recommend Shavon's services.”

“Pratheeksha and Nilaykumar were awesome with our cat, making her feel comfortable very quickly. Communication was frequent with updates on her behaviour and photos, putting us at ease that she’s being well-taken care of. Highly recommended and looking forward to using their services again!”

“My dog is sooo comfortable with Tannis. She’s been our sitter a few times now with absolutely no problems. We will continue to book with her as long as she is available :)”

“Wenyu was so good with our dog. She is a senior dog who is very nervous and doesn’t like being separated. Wenyu treated her like his own pet and made sure she was happy and comfortable every day. He sent daily updates and was so easy to communicate with. His own pets are so sweet and gentle and Reese loved them too. I would rebook for sure.”

“Olena was amazing with Ben! From the pictures that she had provided regularly during Ben’s stay at Olena’s home, it was obvious that he was calm, relaxed and happy to be there. Thank you very much Olena!! Ben would love to spend more time with you in a future:)”

About: I've been looking after pets for over 2 decades. For family, friends and others. I am a former vet tech for 15 years I have 2 of my own dogs. I work from home so I am here all day. I am able to let the dogs out multiple times a day in my fully fenced backyard I love sitting and cuddling and giving attention. My fully fenced backyard ensures that no dog gets out of the yard. My house is very animal friendly.
“Emma and her family were so welcoming to our Lizzy! They’re very accommodating and friendly. I could tell they are absolute dog lovers and Lizzy felt right at home! Lizzy looks forward to staying with them again soon!”

“We had never left Murphy before but Sarah welcomed him in her home and did all his favourite things - taking walks, snuggles, playing fetch. Sarah communicated throughout the stay. She was great and we would happily use her again.”

“I’ve left Apollo with Karrie twice now and I’m so thankful for her help. She has excellent communication skills and is very flexible when it comes to pick ups and drop offs. Apollo seems to love his time with Karrie and Lily!”

“This was our first time using Rover. Nicole was fantastic. Daily updates with pictures, videos, and messages and we had absolute piece of mind that Emmy was in great hands while we were on vacation. She was spoiled rotten with walks, car rides, playtime, and cuddles. Will definitely ask Nicole to watch her again!”

“Rebecca was accommodating to my cat's difficulties in new spaces and had a nice private space where she could hang out. Friendly, kind service, I would definitely recommend Rebecca for boarding :)”

“Alyssa did a fantastic job with our dog, giving us the peace of mind that he was safe and well looked after. Plus she sent us pictures of him regularly. We would definitely work with Alyssa again!”

About: I grew up on a farm taking care of animals and have been caring for my own dog for the past 5 years. I also occasionally care for friends' and family's pets as well. I am a student, and I work full-time, but I am available on the weekends and in the evenings to walk and care for animals. I have my own dog that will keep your pet company and will be home to play and ensure your pet is cared for as my own.
About: Hi there, I’m Murph! I have 15 years of experience taking care of cats, dogs, rats, and even chickens. Over the last 3 years I have become the designated go-to sitter to many different pets in my neighbourhood. When anyone comes to me in need of a pet sitter, both short term and long term, I’m quick to spring into action and open my doors to their furry friends. Throughout the years I have personally had pets with medical conditions from severe anxiety in dogs and cats, common lung infections in rats, and epilepsy in senior dogs— so I do have experience with different medical emergencies and medication administration. That being said, if your furry friends need care I do not have personal experience with I am more than willing to learn, and to learn quickly! Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions about my experience! As a freelancer I am home 24/7 working on various projects— so needless to say, your furry friend will never be left alone while in my care! I never host animals from different families at the same time, I want each animal to have a safe and comfortable stay while visiting my home! I do not have a backyard, but I live in a nice part of town to take long walks that will allow us to avoid heavy traffic flow. I’m also open to going to an outdoor rink to throw a ball around if that’s something you would like me to do!
About: I have extensive experience working with dogs of all ages, helping them adapt to their environment through desensitization and positive reinforcement techniques. I specialize in supporting puppies during their early developmental stages, guiding them in establishing proper potty habits and building a strong foundation for good behavior. In addition, I assist pet owners by providing structured outings that encourage socialization and exposure to new environments. These experiences are especially valuable for dogs learning to remain calm and well-mannered in public settings, including dog-friendly retail spaces. I am currently working full time but i am in and out of the house sometimes gone for 5-6 hours a day. Will be free after 3 pm weekdays most weekdays. Pet care is always number one. I offer a fully fenced yard with a secure 6-foot fence, providing a safe and spacious environment for dogs to play. My friendly pack of well-socialized dogs loves welcoming new companions, making it a great setting for positive interactions and playtime. I can accommodate a variety of needs—dogs can be safely crated if preferred, or enjoy supervised time outdoors on clean, well-maintained artificial turf. In addition to the main yard, I also have crates available and a separate outdoor dog run for added flexibility and safety.
“Marc was excellent with my little Yorkie. She was very recently rescued from an unusual situation and doesn’t act like you might expect a dog to act. She is also still afraid of almost everything and everyone. But she took to Marc right away and he was very understanding of her situation and she obviously enjoyed her stay.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
