“Goes above and beyond to take care of my dog and keep updates with photos. My dog's harness got damaged this last visit and Julia took the time to find an exact replacement before I picked her up. Would recommend.”

“Kuma had a great time at Sarah's. He had access to a huge yard and some friends to play with. Sarah is very knowledgable with dogs and knew how to handle Kuma's puppy energy.”

“We are so grateful to Olena for taking such wonderful care of our dog while we were out of town for a wedding. From the start, she was reliable, communicative, and clearly cared about making sure our pup was happy and comfortable. She sent us regular updates and photos, which gave us total peace of mind while we were away. When we came home, our dog was relaxed, well cared for, and clearly had enjoyed her company. We would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter!! 🙂”

“Gisele was calm and patient. She was very good for a senior dog with some anxiety. We have used rover before, but our last experience left our pup seeming depressed. Gisele was our last try for this app, and we were not disappointed. Would have her watch our dog again. Thanks Gisele”

“Nicole was the best Rover sitter we’ve ever had! She was amazing with our dog who has lots of senior dog/small nervous dog issues. Great communication and very reliable and flexible. Would 100% book again.”

“John and Lynda took excellent care of our husky shepherd last week for the first time. They sent us picture updates and messages during her stay. We could tell she was very comfortable and having lots of fun too! Their yard was perfect for her to run and play in.”

“Shavon took wonderful care of our Rory. We could focus on our trip because we knew Rory was in good hands. She was also very flexible with timing. Will definitely use her services again.”

About: I've been looking after pets for over 2 decades. For family, friends and others. I am a former vet tech for 15 years I have 2 of my own dogs. I work from home so I am here all day. I am able to let the dogs out multiple times a day in my fully fenced backyard I love sitting and cuddling and giving attention. My fully fenced backyard ensures that no dog gets out of the yard. My house is very animal friendly.
“Lindsey and her kiddos were amazing! They truly love and care for Murphy and he had such a great time! Definitely would be rebooking with her when we are away again!”

“Wenyu was so good with our dog. She is a senior dog who is very nervous and doesn’t like being separated. Wenyu treated her like his own pet and made sure she was happy and comfortable every day. He sent daily updates and was so easy to communicate with. His own pets are so sweet and gentle and Reese loved them too. I would rebook for sure.”

“I would give Charmaine more than five stars if I could. Every evening, I received a thoughtful update along with several photos showing my pets happy, healthy, and clearly enjoying their own vacation. She kept me informed about how they were doing, including their health, behaviour, and overall happiness, which gave me complete peace of mind. Knowing they were so well cared for made my vacation completely stress free. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for exceptional pet care.”

About: Hi there, I’m Murph! I have 15 years of experience taking care of cats, dogs, rats, and even chickens. Over the last 3 years I have become the designated go-to sitter to many different pets in my neighbourhood. When anyone comes to me in need of a pet sitter, both short term and long term, I’m quick to spring into action and open my doors to their furry friends. Throughout the years I have personally had pets with medical conditions from severe anxiety in dogs and cats, common lung infections in rats, and epilepsy in senior dogs— so I do have experience with different medical emergencies and medication administration. That being said, if your furry friends need care I do not have personal experience with I am more than willing to learn, and to learn quickly! Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions about my experience! As a freelancer I am home 24/7 working on various projects— so needless to say, your furry friend will never be left alone while in my care! I never host animals from different families at the same time, I want each animal to have a safe and comfortable stay while visiting my home! I do not have a backyard, but I live in a nice part of town to take long walks that will allow us to avoid heavy traffic flow. I’m also open to going to an outdoor rink to throw a ball around if that’s something you would like me to do!
“We couldn’t be happier with the care our dog receives from Rebecca! She is incredibly dependable, reliable, and gives us complete peace of mind whenever we’re away. It’s obvious how comfortable and well cared for our dog feels with her—he gets so excited to see Rebecca and makes himself completely at home. Knowing he’s happy and in such good hands makes leaving town so much easier for us. We truly appreciate the love and attention Rebecca gives him and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter.”

“We have used Rover a few times in different cities and all have taken care of our dogs as thought they were their own. Mark is no exception and Mark has gone beyond our expectations to care of our dogs. Mark obviously loves dogs and enjoys his time with them.”

“Pratheeksha and Nilay are the best sitters we’ve had thus far! They are accommodating and friendly. They love dogs and they take care of them like they’re their own. They send daily updates with pictures and they are responsive and proactive. Our dog Lizzy felt comfortable right when she met them and when I picked her up, she went back to say bye to them which is a good sign that she likes them! I highly recommend them as a dog sitter!”

“I have left my dog with Karrie many times and it has always been worry free. My dog gets excited to go to Karrie's and I know Karrie treats her like her own. Karrie always sends pictures of my dog so I can see how much fun she is having. When I need to be away from my dog and want her to be somewhere safe, the first person I think of is Karrie.”

About: I grew up on a farm taking care of animals and have been caring for my own dog for the past 5 years. I also occasionally care for friends' and family's pets as well. I am a student, and I work full-time, but I am available on the weekends and in the evenings to walk and care for animals. I have my own dog that will keep your pet company and will be home to play and ensure your pet is cared for as my own.
“Roann is not only an amazing woman she is absolutely amazing with our loved ones. We don’t ever stress when we leave Rosie with her. We trust her completely with everything. We will keep going back to Roann!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
