We simply couldn’t have hoped for a better dog-sitter for Juno. Susan has a calm and positive demeanor which is exactly what our dog needed after being in a very busy household and somewhat traumatized / fearful. Susan lives in a beautiful and serene area, fantastic for walks which your dog will undoubtedly appreciate. We loved receiving updates and photos from our pet which meant so much for us. Susan was also wonderfully flexible and accommodating when we had to prolong the dog’s stay by a few days. We are so grateful to have found her 💕

About: I have always had a dog since a young age mostly large breeds (ridgebacks and labs) and now currently a small breed (frenchton). I also had many cats as a kid. I often take care of friends/family pets when they are away or at work. While I do not have any rover experience yet, I am a very responsible dog owner, mother, home owner and entrepreneur. Your pets will be safe and cared for with me! I work Tuesday-Friday 10am-4pm. I have flexibility in my days/schedule and can leave to walk or to let animals outside. I am a morning person and love to be outdoors and to get fresh air before work. Weekends I am often outdoors and I am not afraid of the rain (I lived in Tofino for 16 years haha). I do have kids in the house 50% of the time ages 8 and 10. I also have a Frenchton Frida age 4 who is very chill and friendly. My kids have grown up with my mom’s two giant Rhodesian ridgebacks their entire lives so we are all used to big dogs too! We adore pets and treat them like a part of the family. We cuddle on the couch with Frida and she sleeps in bed with the kids. We have a fully fenced secure back yard and love going on walks through the forest and to the fields nearby to throw a ball. Another favourite for us is beach walks. If your dog is calm there is also the option of them coming to work with me too. Frida typically joins me at work and snoozes behind the desk in her little bed.

About: Had dogs all my life and trained and rehabilitated my 15 year old border collie. Recently said good bye to both family dogs. Experience with puppies, senior dogs, unique dog medical needs, and nervous dispositions. I work full time from home, can offer daily dog walks, very active family life on the weekend. Dogs can come along for any and all the adventures where appropriate. Biking, hiking, beach plays, trail runs. Back yard not fenced, very friendly German Shepard shares the yard. Steps away from the beach so many strolls for sniffs and pee breaks. One very excited toddler to pet and play. Has learned to be gentle with dogs.

About: Hello beautiful community, I have several years of hands-on experience caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments. My experience includes daily walks, overnight sitting, basic grooming, feeding routines, crate training support, and reinforcing positive behavior. I’ve cared for energetic puppies who need structure and stimulation, as well as senior dogs who require patience, gentle handling, and close attention to health needs. I understand that every dog/cat has a unique personality and routine. I take the time to learn each pet’s preferences, triggers, energy level, and comfort zones to ensure they feel safe and secure while their owners are away. I’m attentive to body language, stress signals, and changes in behavior, which helps me proactively prevent issues and maintain a calm environment. Please let me know if you have any questions! I would love to take care of your furry friend & I am happy to do a meet and greet 🤗 I recently moved to Powell River and have a lot of free time to play and care for your pet. At the moment, I am available every day of the week. I live in a home and I have a fenced yard with one friendly dog. His name is Douglas and he is very friendly, goofy and affectionate.

Lisa and David took amazing care of our puppy - Luna! They were very responsive in the inquiry process and provided pictures and updates while caring for Luna. Their property is perfect for dogs, allowing them a safe space to explore the outdoors, as well as a lovely dog friendly home (which they puppy proofed for Luna!). They have two border collies that welcomed Luna into their pack. Luna came back to us very happy and well behaved. Lisa and David took the time to reinforce the training we were already working on with her. We will definitely use Lisa and David again and highly recommend them!

About: My Experience: From Search & Rescue to the SPCA I’ve had dogs by my side since I was a kid, and they have always been a huge part of my life. My experience goes beyond just being a pet owner; I’ve worked with dogs in high-responsibility environments where safety and clear communication were the top priorities. Professional Handling: I spent years as a handler for an avalanche rescue dog, training them from a puppy into a working professional. This gave me a deep understanding of canine body language and how to stay calm and in control, no matter the situation. Behavioral Support: I also volunteered my time fostering dogs for the SPCA—specifically those that needed extra help with manners and socialization before they could be adopted. They would stay with me for months while we worked on building their confidence and basic skills. A Personal Connection: My own dogs have passed away, and I genuinely miss the companionship. I’m looking forward to providing a safe, attentive home-away-from-home for your pets while I have the time to help out. Availability & Approach Full Flexibility in my work schedule. I currently work for myself with a very flexible schedule, which means I am not totally tied to a 9-to-5 office routine. This allows me to and my partner to handle daily routines. Consistency: Because I have flexibility, I can stick to whatever schedule your dog is used to. If they need a walk at a specific time or frequent potty breaks, I can accommodate that fairly easily. A Quiet, Focused Environment: Since I don't have any dogs of my own right now, your dog will be the "star of the show." They won't have to compete for attention or deal with the stress of dogs in the house. Expert Care on Every Walk: While I’m not offering a formal training service, I use my background to ensure every walk is structured and safe. I’m very comfortable working with dogs on leash manners and basic commands if that’s something you’re currently working on. Controlled and Secure Environment: My approach to safety is rooted in my years of experience as a Search and Rescue handler. I don’t just "watch" dogs; I manage their environment to ensure they stay calm and safe. Secure Outdoor Space: I have a fully fenced backyard where your dog can enjoy some fresh air and play safely. Because I work with a flexible schedule, I can provide supervised outdoor breaks throughout the day. In My Home (Structured Space): I provide a quiet, focused home environment. While I do have a cat, she is an outdoor cat and will not be in the home or interacting with your dog during their stay. This allows your pet to enjoy the indoor space without the stress of other animals. Expert Handling on Walks: I use professional handling techniques on every outing. My background as a SAR handler means I am always scanning the environment for potential triggers, off-leash dogs, or hazards. I aim for a structured, calm walk where your dog feels confident. Trust & Communication: My background is in high-level operations, so I value clear, reliable communication. You’ll receive regular updates and photos, and you can trust that I am following your specific feeding, medical, and behavioural routines to the letter. Security Protocols: I am meticulous with gear—leashes, harnesses, and securing gates. I treat your dog’s safety with the same discipline I used when working with avalanche rescue animals in the field. Frequently Asked Questions Where will my dog spend most of their time? At my home or out at my office, your dog can be me for a lot of the day. They have full access to the house and a secure, fenced backyard for supervised play and fresh air breaks throughout the day. How many walks will my dog get? I typically provide at least two structured walks per day, but since my schedule is flexible, I can easily adapt to your dog’s usual routine. Because of my background in professional handling, I ensure walks are not just exercise, but a calm, mentally engaging experience for your pet. Will my dog be left alone? Sometimes. One of the benefits of my work schedule is that I can be present for much of the day. When I do head out for a work or errand, it is never for more than a few hours. My partner also works close to home and comes home at lunch. If your dog has separation anxiety or needs a high level of companionship, my environment is a great fit. I can also take your dog with me. How do you handle "reactive" or high-energy dogs? I am very comfortable with dogs that have "big" personalities. My experience fostering for the SPCA and training an avalanche rescue dog means I understand how to manage leash reactivity and high energy. I focus on keeping the environment calm and using the specific commands and boundaries you’ve already established. What is your protocol for safety and emergencies? I treat safety with the discipline of a professional handler. This means double-checking gate latches, ensuring harnesses are secure, and staying hyper-aware of our surroundings on walks. Should an emergency arise, I have the experience to stay calm, and I will immediately contact you and your designated vet.

About: I started taking care of dogs when I was 12, helping with walks and training for my own dog in Italy, where I’m from. Being around dogs has always been a part of my life. Over the years, I also dog sat for friends and family, caring for different breeds and keeping up with their usual routines. After moving to Canada, I felt like something was missing and that’s when I decided to get my own dog here. That experience taught me even more about responsibility and the joy of having a dog in your life. I’m comfortable with daily walks, basic training, feeding schedules, and making sure each dog feels relaxed and well cared for. I’m responsible, easygoing, and genuinely enjoy spending time with dogs. I have a very flexible work schedule and am available for walks every day from 4 to 8 PM, as well as early morning and lunchtime walks. I also have more time on weekends, making it easy to fit in longer walks or extra playtime. I’m very respectful of each owner’s training style and home rules. At my place, I have a 2-year-old, 15-pound Havapoo who loves to play and will happily keep your pup company.

Owen and Tatiana are wonderful sitters! Our dog Indy came home happy and healthy. This was his first time away from us so we were nervous. Love that they wanted to meet us and our dog first to make sure it was a good fit for everyone. Pictures were sent to us throughout the week of Indy out on walks and hanging out. Their place is nice and clean and comfortable. We had no reservations about him at all throughout the week, we were able to enjoy our vacation knowing he was in good hands. Would use them again in a heartbeat
