About: I have done drop ins and had friends/family dogs stay with me for the last 2 years and have owned my own (not anymore) dogs on and off for my whole life A pet lover with time to spare. I currently work 5 hours a day during the week and can provide early morning, afternoon and evening visits. I have a large fenced front and back yard. All animals must be well socialized with children if they are staying here, otherwise I can do drop-ins without children.
“We had a family emergency and Andrea was willing to be flexible and keep us updated on our pup so we could focus on what we needed to without having to worry at all about our dog at home. Andrea has been making our dog feel loved and cared for by boarding when needed and daycare hangouts for over six months. She is amazing and our dog loves every minute with her!”

“Amber is Fantastic! She provides a warm and inviting space for my dog. Copper is a joy to be around. Amber is great at providing updates, taking the dogs on adventure and spending quality time. Zero stress leaving my fluff with her.”

About: Had dogs all my life and trained and rehabilitated my 15 year old border collie. Recently said good bye to both family dogs. Experience with puppies, senior dogs, unique dog medical needs, and nervous dispositions. I work full time from home, can offer daily dog walks, very active family life on the weekend. Dogs can come along for any and all the adventures where appropriate. Biking, hiking, beach plays, trail runs. Back yard not fenced, very friendly German Shepard shares the yard. Steps away from the beach so many strolls for sniffs and pee breaks. One very excited toddler to pet and play. Has learned to be gentle with dogs.
“We simply couldn’t have hoped for a better dog-sitter for Juno. Susan has a calm and positive demeanor which is exactly what our dog needed after being in a very busy household and somewhat traumatized / fearful. Susan lives in a beautiful and serene area, fantastic for walks which your dog will undoubtedly appreciate. We loved receiving updates and photos from our pet which meant so much for us. Susan was also wonderfully flexible and accommodating when we had to prolong the dog’s stay by a few days. We are so grateful to have found her 💕”

“Dominique and family took very good care of our Ava girl. The kids were very tentative and caring aswell as Dominique. They took our girl out on adventure played with her and the kids like to have sleep overs with her aswell as ava. Thank you so much Dominique and family you were all so great and we know Ava is well taking care of in your home and we look forward to her visiting again 😊”

“Such a lovely family! We spent 3 nights away knowing Charlie was in caring hands and have no doubt she received all the ball throws and cuddles her heart desired. Photo updates were appreciated as well :) Thank you Catherine and Doug!”

About: Hello beautiful community, I have several years of hands-on experience caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments. My experience includes daily walks, overnight sitting, basic grooming, feeding routines, crate training support, and reinforcing positive behavior. I’ve cared for energetic puppies who need structure and stimulation, as well as senior dogs who require patience, gentle handling, and close attention to health needs. I understand that every dog/cat has a unique personality and routine. I take the time to learn each pet’s preferences, triggers, energy level, and comfort zones to ensure they feel safe and secure while their owners are away. Please let me know if you have any questions! I would love to take care of your furry friend & I am happy to do a meet and greet 🤗 I recently moved to Powell River and I have a flexible schedule. I usually work around 5-6 hours a day and 5 days a week. I live in a home and I have a fenced yard with one friendly dog. His name is Douglas and he is very friendly, goofy and affectionate.
“Marie took really great care of our golden retriever Maggie! We really appreciated the pictures and little updates and Maggie was so happy on your walks and adventures. She got along really well with your two sweet dogs. Thank you!!!”

“Lisa and David went above and beyond during Indy’s stay over Christmas!! It was our first time leaving our puppy and we felt so comfortable knowing she was in their hands. They sent amazing updates on how Indy was adjusting, and photos / videos of her running around their beautiful fenced in property with their two lovely boarder collies, snoozing on the couch, and getting lots of cuddles from all. We will definitely be booking again and Indy already cant wait to go back ❣️”

“My pup came back happy after her first stay with Taryn. My pup and her pup got along well, her pup seems very chill. Taryn was easy to talk to and lay out the stay plans with. Definitely grateful to have a sitter now for our fur kid for future getaways ❤️”

“We had an excellent experience with Melisa. Our dog, Pippa, seemed very comfortable and relaxed with her and when we picked her up. Melisa is friendly, easy to communicate with and very flexible. Thank you!”

About: We had to say goodbye to our sweet dog last fall and would welcome some occasional furry love in our home again! I understand what’s involved in taking care of a dog properly, all while giving them love and attention. I raised a vizsla dog from puppy through to senior and passing on. He had epilepsy which required daily medication his whole life, was a high energy alpha male, and had lots of minor medical issues. I also grew up with a collie-shepherd rescue when I was younger. During the summer months I don’t work, so looking to add a furry friend to our family while I’m home. I have kids, so while we may go out for occasional outings, if the dog isn’t joining us, the dog would only be home for a few hours. During the school year, I would only be gone weekdays for 4-6 hours. I have a fenced rural property (just under an acre) on the edge of Comox, with access to trails and beaches, galore! There is a mudroom inside our home that is a safe place to leave a dog, or a crate if they feel safe. My children understand how to approach and treat dogs carefully and respectfully (they are 7 and 10 years old). With some blankets on the couch, your dog is welcome up for some cuddles! The house is well setup for a dog, as our last one lived here too. There is always access to fresh water for your pup, we have a walk in shower with easy access from the door on tile, and our home is a comfortable temperature year round with a heat pump.
“Kelly and Ian were fantastic. They took care of our dog Emmi-lou on short notice and were very accommodating of all of her unique needs and high energy. Kelly updated us often with photos and videos, we felt very good about leaving Emmi with such kind people.”

“Brynne was wonderful with our dog - they went on long walks and Remy had the best time. Brynne sent lots of pictures and was super quick to respond to any messages. We definitely hope Remy can stay with her again when we come back.”

“Honey had a great time at Carol's, it was her first time away from us and she was very reassuring with Honey. Loved that Carol kept in touch while we were away and sent us pics of Honey on her vacation. Her dogs are also very sweet and patient. Thanks Carol !”

“Sean and his wife are wonderfully warm and welcoming. Our dog was comfortable right away in their home. Sean has previous experience with training and caring for his dogs. Our boy had just received surgery and Sean was respectful of his aftercare. I enjoyed the photos they would send me. When the time comes I would definately call them again!”

“We were very happy with Michaela's understanding and patience of our dog puppy energy. We are grateful to have felt so comfortable leaving our dog in her care. Thank you Michaela, we will book with you again in the future.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
