“Amber is just fantastic! Not only is she a great communicator but she also sent regular photos and videos of our pup having a great time. We always know our dog is in good hands with Amber. Highly recommend.”

“Andrea and Maggie are AMAZING. I honestly can’t put into words how great they were for my Ol’ Gurl Friday. She’s a particular gal and they treated her exactly how she likes being treated. She went on amazing outdoor adventures and got to cozy up while at Andrea’s home. Would definitely recommend her and her pup Maggie!”

“Susan was a great dog sitter and I would recommend her. She took me on as a client with two days notice. I was able to meet with her prior to the two week event. She took very good care of my little buddy, gave suggestions to his care when needed and kept me daily informed about him. I even had pictures of him which I appreciated a lot. I would use her services again without hesitation.”

About: I have done drop ins and had friends/family dogs stay with me for the last 2 years and have owned my own (not anymore) dogs on and off for my whole life A pet lover with time to spare. I currently work 5 hours a day during the week and can provide early morning, afternoon and evening visits. I have a large fenced front and back yard. All animals must be well socialized with children if they are staying here, otherwise I can do drop-ins without children.
“Dominique and her family were great! She made sure she understood our dog’s habits and needs and went out of her way to accommodate them. We have a senior dog who came home tired, but content. I highly recommend Dominique and will be contacting her when we need a pet sitter again!”

“This was our dog's first long separation from us and Adam was great. Our dog really took a liking to him and enjoyed hanging out with his dog, Mr. Pitts. Adam was flexible with drop-off and pick-up times and attentive to meal and snacks. Will go back to Adam next time.”

“Seamless dog boarding experience with Ingrid. I would not hesitate to book again with her. My pup was well cared for and the process felt relaxing due to her easy going and professional nature.”

About: Had dogs all my life and trained and rehabilitated my 15 year old border collie. Recently said good bye to both family dogs. Experience with puppies, senior dogs, unique dog medical needs, and nervous dispositions. I work full time from home, can offer daily dog walks, very active family life on the weekend. Dogs can come along for any and all the adventures where appropriate. Biking, hiking, beach plays, trail runs. Back yard not fenced, very friendly German Shepard shares the yard. Steps away from the beach so many strolls for sniffs and pee breaks. One very excited toddler to pet and play. Has learned to be gentle with dogs.
“My dog Hank had a great time with Catherine & Douglas! They sent lots of pictures with him playing with their boys, swimming, and relaxing in the yard. I wasn’t sure he was going to want to come home after his doggie holiday. :) Would 100% recommend!”

“Lisa and David took amazing care of our puppy - Luna! They were very responsive in the inquiry process and provided pictures and updates while caring for Luna. Their property is perfect for dogs, allowing them a safe space to explore the outdoors, as well as a lovely dog friendly home (which they puppy proofed for Luna!). They have two border collies that welcomed Luna into their pack. Luna came back to us very happy and well behaved. Lisa and David took the time to reinforce the training we were already working on with her. We will definitely use Lisa and David again and highly recommend them!”

“Carol took good care of Aila. Aila had a good time playing with their dog in the fenced yard and I got pictures and updates about how she was doing. Carol is good in communicating I would definitely bring her again.”

“A big help when I suddenly was in town for the day for a tour and needed boarding for my dog during the day, during a holiday weekend. My dog is a recent rescue and nervous around other dogs, but she had a glorious time and I’m so glad for all the bonding, and for the open spaces that she was encouraged to explore outside on the land and inside the home.”

About: Over the past several years, I have looked after home and petals for family and friends, caring for daily routines and walks to overnight stays. I'm currently completely my masters and working part time. Recently moved back to the Comox Valley. My time currently is pretty flexible. Excited to help. Happy to take your dog for a walk, or looked after your house and pets while you are away. Excited to work with you and your pets.
“We had an excellent experience with Melisa. Our dog, Pippa, seemed very comfortable and relaxed with her and when we picked her up. Melisa is friendly, easy to communicate with and very flexible. Thank you!”

About: We had to say goodbye to our sweet dog last fall and would welcome some occasional furry love in our home again! I understand what’s involved in taking care of a dog properly, all while giving them love and attention. I raised a vizsla dog from puppy through to senior and passing on. He had epilepsy which required daily medication his whole life, was a high energy alpha male, and had lots of minor medical issues. I also grew up with a collie-shepherd rescue when I was younger. During the summer months I don’t work, so looking to add a furry friend to our family while I’m home. I have kids, so while we may go out for occasional outings, if the dog isn’t joining us, the dog would only be home for a few hours. During the school year, I would only be gone weekdays for 4-6 hours. I have a fenced rural property (just under an acre) on the edge of Comox, with access to trails and beaches, galore! There is a mudroom inside our home that is a safe place to leave a dog, or a crate if they feel safe. My children understand how to approach and treat dogs carefully and respectfully (they are 7 and 10 years old). With some blankets on the couch, your dog is welcome up for some cuddles! The house is well setup for a dog, as our last one lived here too. There is always access to fresh water for your pup, we have a walk in shower with easy access from the door on tile, and our home is a comfortable temperature year round with a heat pump.
“Kelly and Ian were fantastic. They took care of our dog Emmi-lou on short notice and were very accommodating of all of her unique needs and high energy. Kelly updated us often with photos and videos, we felt very good about leaving Emmi with such kind people.”

About: Hello beautiful community, I have several years of hands-on experience caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments. My experience includes daily walks, overnight sitting, basic grooming, feeding routines, crate training support, and reinforcing positive behavior. I’ve cared for energetic puppies who need structure and stimulation, as well as senior dogs who require patience, gentle handling, and close attention to health needs. I understand that every dog/cat has a unique personality and routine. I take the time to learn each pet’s preferences, triggers, energy level, and comfort zones to ensure they feel safe and secure while their owners are away. Please let me know if you have any questions! I would love to take care of your furry friend & I am happy to do a meet and greet 🤗 I recently moved to Powell River and I have a flexible schedule. I usually work around 5-6 hours a day and 5 days a week. I live in a home and I have a fenced yard with one friendly dog. His name is Douglas and he is very friendly, goofy and affectionate.
“Kaleena & Trish were great dog sitters for my pup! They were very accommodating and flexible when my flight changed and I couldn’t pick my dog up until the next day. They made sure to send me photos and updates throughout the week. Their dogs were also very friendly and made great companions for my dog. Would highly recommend!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
