“Aparna took excellent care of my dog. Honey went on a long off leash walk everyday and was given lots of time with enrichment toys. Honey loved hanging out with Aparna’s dog. I received many pictures and videos from Aparna. This was my first experience with Rover and it was a very positive experience. I definitely recommend Aparna as a pet sitter!”

“My little dog Olive warmed up super fast to Kevin and Jenny, she’s normally really nervous of people but looked so happy and comfortable with them. I contacted them on very short notice and they were so nice and accommodating and with a good demeanour, a beautiful large property, and a nice dog I was super comfortable leaving Olive with them! I’ll definitely be bringing her back”

“Yasmine was amazing with our dog, Jasper. Jasper felt very comfortable with Yasmine and settled right in at Yasmine’s home. Loved Yasmine cautious and kind approach to things with Jasper. Will definitely book again.”

“Had a meet & greet and immediately knew that my Kobi would be in good hands with Brittany. Turned out he was in great hands! She sent lots of pics showing what he was up to, which was really reassuring, and I know Kobi would easily go back for more adventures with her sweet family!”

“Dominique and family took very good care of our Ava girl. The kids were very tentative and caring aswell as Dominique. They took our girl out on adventure played with her and the kids like to have sleep overs with her aswell as ava. Thank you so much Dominique and family you were all so great and we know Ava is well taking care of in your home and we look forward to her visiting again 😊”

“A big help when I suddenly was in town for the day for a tour and needed boarding for my dog during the day, during a holiday weekend. My dog is a recent rescue and nervous around other dogs, but she had a glorious time and I’m so glad for all the bonding, and for the open spaces that she was encouraged to explore outside on the land and inside the home.”

About: We had to say goodbye to our sweet dog last fall and would welcome some occasional furry love in our home again! I understand what’s involved in taking care of a dog properly, all while giving them love and attention. I raised a vizsla dog from puppy through to senior and passing on. He had epilepsy which required daily medication his whole life, was a high energy alpha male, and had lots of minor medical issues. I also grew up with a collie-shepherd rescue when I was younger. During the summer months I don’t work, so looking to add a furry friend to our family while I’m home. I have kids, so while we may go out for occasional outings, if the dog isn’t joining us, the dog would only be home for a few hours. During the school year, I would only be gone weekdays for 4-6 hours. I have a fenced rural property (just under an acre) on the edge of Comox, with access to trails and beaches, galore! There is a mudroom inside our home that is a safe place to leave a dog, or a crate if they feel safe. My children understand how to approach and treat dogs carefully and respectfully (they are 7 and 10 years old). With some blankets on the couch, your dog is welcome up for some cuddles! The house is well setup for a dog, as our last one lived here too. There is always access to fresh water for your pup, we have a walk in shower with easy access from the door on tile, and our home is a comfortable temperature year round with a heat pump.
“Janine and her family took such great care of Natty-Bo! Lots of fun play-time, couch snuggles, photos and love. This was our first time leaving our pup and we had zero concerns while we were away. Thank you so much for that peace of mind!”

“Carol took good care of Aila. Aila had a good time playing with their dog in the fenced yard and I got pictures and updates about how she was doing. Carol is good in communicating I would definitely bring her again.”

“Sean and his wife are wonderfully warm and welcoming. Our dog was comfortable right away in their home. Sean has previous experience with training and caring for his dogs. Our boy had just received surgery and Sean was respectful of his aftercare. I enjoyed the photos they would send me. When the time comes I would definately call them again!”

“We were very happy with Michaela's understanding and patience of our dog puppy energy. We are grateful to have felt so comfortable leaving our dog in her care. Thank you Michaela, we will book with you again in the future.”

“Brynne was wonderful with our dog - they went on long walks and Remy had the best time. Brynne sent lots of pictures and was super quick to respond to any messages. We definitely hope Remy can stay with her again when we come back.”

“Kaleena & Trish were great dog sitters for my pup! They were very accommodating and flexible when my flight changed and I couldn’t pick my dog up until the next day. They made sure to send me photos and updates throughout the week. Their dogs were also very friendly and made great companions for my dog. Would highly recommend!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
