About: Hello, I'm Aimee, a 28-year-old animal lover from Sydney, Australia. I spent the last year living and traveling around Europe, pet-sitting my entire way through! I looked after over 40 animals and was introduced to so many wonderful people and places through this. I fell in love with this way of life and hope to continue it now that I live in the beautiful town of Nelson, BC. With my experience and genuine adoration for animals, you can rest assured that your beloved companions will be in capable and loving hands. Not only will I attend to your pets' basic needs, but I'll also provide ample playtime, exercise, and cuddles. I will also keep you updated with photos so you can relax knowing that your pets are safe and happy. If you have plants or gardens that need tending to, I'm more than willing to lend a green thumb! I currently work as a server in Nelson and am available for pet sitting both during the week and on weekends. My shifts vary between mornings and evenings, but I’m never away from home for more than 6 hours at a time. I’m happy to work around your pet’s routine and make sure they get plenty of care, attention and company while you’re away. While I’m unable to host pets in my own home due to rental restrictions, I’m more than happy to come to you! I love being able to care for pets in their own home, where they can stay comfortable and stick to their usual routine while you’re away. I find this can make your absence much less stressful for them, with their familiar surroundings, favourite spots and daily routines all staying the same. I’m also happy to travel to nearby towns, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re a little further away!

“Highly recommend Nicole! She took great care of our cat while we were away and sent updates/photos each day. Our cat is really shy and seemed to come out of her shell more than usual! Grateful Nicole took took the time to socialize and play with her :)”

About: I've been a dog lover for as long as I've been alive! My family has always been dog oriented, and having been surrounded by pets since early childhood, I've looked at them as a mainstay in my life and have been fortunate enough to learn and develop amazing relationships with so many dogs over the years, including shelter dogs of all backgrounds, as I've spent time volunteering at the SPCA in Castlegar over the last few years. I currently have a pretty fluid and flexible work schedule between the multiple jobs that I have. It changes from week to week, but I consistently have free time most mornings and evenings, and on varying afternoons from week to week as my work schedule changes. Throwing a walk into the mix before or after my regular shifts won't be too challenging! There are no other pets in my current living situation. I have private space to myself in the basement suite and am able to isolate pretty well down here, but have roommates upstairs for more social time. Despite not having a fenced in yard, I have a fenced in deck patio, and live only a few blocks away from the rail trail and many other great walking paths.
About: Hello! I am a student in Nelson and would absolutely love to take care of your dogs, cats and porcupines (maybe there's some in Nelson!). I grew up with dogs (among other pets) and during the pandemic I cared and lived with an 11 year old Great Pyrenees, which was truly magical. I am in my early thirties and would love to eventually adopt my own pooch but until then, I look forward to hearing from you how to provide the best care possible for your furry. Outside of pet care, I am a childcare provider and dance artist. I am a student in Nelson and am flexible in timing! I am available for overnight stays and can be in the house studying or out walking for dogs throughout the day. I am happy to administer medication or follow any specific care plans for your pup. I will study at home, so expect for your pet to receive consistent attention and cuddles. I also try to get out into nature for a few hours every day - I love being outside, especially going for strolls through parks, rain or shine :) I am active, responsible, and sensitive to supporting each pet's needs. From extra patience to high-energy play, I will care for your pet as my own. I'm excited to meet you both! Dogs must be house-trained and with no fleas, ticks, or worms. Please let me know about your dog's personality and what their daily routine looks like in terms of food/exercise/bathroom/etc so I can take the best care possible.
“I can't recommend Any highly enough. She took such great care of our cat, sending photos and written updates daily. It made the typically stressful situation of leaving our 15 year old cat to go on a holiday so much more relaxed, giving us wonderful peace of mind. Her communication was quick, kind and honest. Highly recommended! Will absolutely book with her again.”

About: When I was 8, I got my first kitty and named him Mr. Jaguar -- that's me and him in the vintage pic! I've cared for cats of all ages over the course of my life. Most recently I've looked after senior cats, as well as cats with higher maintenance (particular diets, playtime, attention needs). I am currently unable to accommodate boarding for dogs, and I can only care for one dog at a time (applies to house-sitting and visits) -- multiple cats is ok for house-sitting and visits, but can only board one at a time👌 My schedule is flexible and varied. While more notice is better, please feel free to reach out for short-notice bookings; I'll let you know if I'm available! I have room for you kitty to be catered to. No other pets will disturb them, and they're sure to get lots of attention in a safe environment 😊
About: I've cared for my family's 2 sheepadoodles for 8 years, and consistently watch a cute little chihuahua who loves to play frisbee. I don't have experience in dogs with special needs, but I do have a highly flexible schedule for people that need pet care. I work for myself at home, and can work from anywhere if need be. I love going for walks, and am happy to take your pet out any time of the day. I work completely from home and for myself, so I have no schedule constraints and am available most of the time. I am about as flexible as it gets! I don't have a fenced yard, so pets in my home go for a couple walks. If you have a fenced yard, I throw balls and frisbees till your pet can't go anymore!
“Ashley was an amazing sitter and I would definitely recommend her. I could see right away that she loves animals and enjoys connecting with them. She is very attentive and a good communicator. My cat was perfectly happy when I got back home. Thanks Ashley!”

About: What sets me apart as a sitter is the level of patience, compassion, and real-life experience I bring, especially with dogs who need a little extra understanding. I’ve cared for two rescue dogs with very different and challenging backgrounds, which has shaped how I approach every animal I look after. One of my dogs I found on the streets of the Philippines, where I nursed her back to health and helped her regain strength and trust. The other I adopted from Heart Hope and Rescue, and she came to me with severe fear due to past abuse. Through consistent care, gentle handling, and a lot of love, I’ve helped her grow into a confident, happy dog who can now be around men comfortably. Today, she’s incredibly affectionate and truly thrives. Because of these experiences, I’m especially skilled with nervous, shy, or rescue dogs who may need extra patience and reassurance. I understand how to read body language, build trust at their pace, and create a calm, safe environment. I’m also comfortable reinforcing basic training, maintaining routines, and giving dogs the attention and care they need to feel secure and happy. Above all, I genuinely love animals and treat every dog as if they were my own, making sure they feel safe, cared for, and completely loved while you’re away. I am both Canine First Aid Certified & Insured. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine, and because I work part-time, I have plenty of flexibility to give your dog the time, attention, and care they deserve. I’m available for both weekday and weekend boarding, and I structure my days to make sure pets are never left alone for long periods. In the mornings, I start the day with walks, feeding, and some playtime to help your dog burn off energy and feel settled. Throughout the day, I incorporate regular potty breaks, enrichment activities, and lots of one-on-one attention whether that’s play, training reinforcement, or just relaxing together. Because I’m home often, your dog will have consistent companionship and supervision. I also adapt my routine to match your dog’s specific needs. For high-energy dogs, I make sure they get plenty of exercise and stimulation, while more anxious or senior dogs get a calm, quiet environment with gentle care and extra comfort. Evenings are more relaxed, with another walk, dinner, and wind-down time filled with cuddles and companionship. Overall, I prioritize creating a safe, structured, and loving environment so your dog feels at home and well cared for every day they’re with me. I provide attentive, compassionate care tailored to each pet’s individual needs, whether in my home or in a client’s home. I prioritize safety by maintaining a clean, secure environment, closely supervising pets, and following any specific routines, dietary requirements, or medical instructions provided by the owner. Building trust is central to my approach, so I take time to understand each pet’s personality, comfort levels, and preferences, ensuring they feel calm and cared for. I also respect clients’ homes by keeping spaces tidy and communicating regularly with updates, so owners feel confident and reassured while they are away.

I love taking dogs out on Nelson’s beautiful trails for fresh air and adventure. Whether your dog wants to sniff every tree or prefers a more relaxed stroll, I’m all about making their time with me tail-waggingly fun! With a flexible work schedule, I’m able to accommodate a wide range of routines, visits, and energy levels. I’m all about making sure your dog feels comfortable, safe, and happy while you’re away—because every pup deserves to have a good time, even if their human is off doing human things. I am currently working a casual schedule. I am available for morning, afternoon and evening walks! I am available for pet sitting during the week or weekend! I have my own suite that has access to a grassy area out front. I am a few minutes walk to the graveyard trails. About: I grew up in a neighbourhood full of friendly people and dogs. I would dogsit or house quite often. They relied on me to keep their pet and home safe. I would take them for walks down to the park, play in the backyard, and just general hangout time. I am currently taking classes at Selkirk during the day and unemployed so I have a very flexible schedule for pet care and happy to make things work :) I am very comfortable taking care of dogs and cats and am happy to provide them with whatever specific care needs you would like :)
About: I have house sit, dog sit, chicken sit, and cat sit, in a variety of homes, even more remote homes where snow plowing was required. I work a flexible schedule. Hybrid remote office worker. I work Monday thru Thursday, but live within a few blocks of my place of work Located near the Columbia River with a fenced yard and no other permanent pets at my home, lots of room to play and run around the yard and trails.
About: I have always had pets… dogs, cats, llamas, iguanas to parrots and toucans and loved and spoiled them all passionately! You can relax while away, knowing your pet is content and cared for in the most loving way possible. I do prefer dogs to be 60 pounds or less. I am retired with lots of time to walk and play with your pets . I am live rurally, surrounded by nature, with a river at the back of my acreage and a rail/trail out front. I live on acreage. While your pet(s) is staying with me, he/she would always be leashed outside for walks. Inside however, my home would be their home and there'll be lots of cuddles and interaction.

About: Hi! I'm Tisana, and yes... I really am mad about dogs. I'm a mature, reliable animal lover living in Nelson. People often smile when I tell them, "I talk dog." It's true! I chat with dogs, pay attention to what they're telling me through their body language, and love getting to know each dog's unique personality. Although I travel between Canada and Mexico, I'm lucky enough to share part of my life with my rescued dog, Snoop Dog. He reminds me every day how much patience, kindness, and consistency matter. As I don't have a car, I specialize in neighbourhood walks, drop-in visits, and caring for pets in the comfort of their own home. Whether your dog wants a walk, a game in the yard, or simply some calm companionship while you're away, I'll meet them where they are. I'll follow your routine carefully, treat your home with respect, and make sure your dog feels safe, happy, and loved until you return. My goal is simple: to leave your dog happier than when I arrived. 🐾 I'm available for most bookings! Your pet's comfort and safety always come first. I care for pets in their own familiar environment, following your routines and instructions carefully so they feel secure while you're away. Whether it's feeding, fresh water, medication, playtime, cuddles, or a neighbourhood walk, I'll treat your pet with kindness and patience and your home with complete respect. I'll also send regular updates and photos so you know your beloved companion is happy and in good hands.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Nelson
I loved having Nicole as Timo's pet sitter. She was quick to reply, reliable, sent pictures and daily updates which was really appreciated. I found her kind and relaxed, which was perfect for Timothy. I will be booking with her again next time that I leave town. :D Thank you again, Nicole!
Lauren was incredible with our cats and our place. Lauren came by for a visit to meet us and the cats and they immediately took to her, which is not always easy for our shy cats. Lauren has a really great calm energy that our cats loved 🥰 Lauren watched our two cats for three nights of drop-in visits and gave one of our cats medication. She's trustworthy, friendly and dependable and we will certainly be hoping to book her to watch our fur babies again. Thank you so much, Lauren!

Once again Jasmin was a fantastic sitter for our kitties while we were away. It is such a relief to know that our kitties are safe, content and comfortable. One of our cats is super shy but somehow Jasmin has completely connected with her and with our other cat as well. Thank you Jasmin - you are much appreciated.

You can coordinate how much supervision you want directly with your sitter. While every sitter’s schedule varies, here are some examples of supervision by pet care service:
- Boarding or doggy day care: Many sitters can provide frequent companionship because they design their day specifically around the pets in their care or work from home.
- House sitting: Your sitter generally stays in your home for the requested duration, which may include overnight care. They may step out briefly to visit other pet clients, but your home remains their primary base.
- Drop-in visits or dog walking: These can be scheduled in 30- or 60-minute windows (and can be shorter or longer at your request) to help your pet receive dedicated attention and care during those specific times.
Interested in constant or 24/7 care? This service often incurs an additional fee but many sitters are happy to discuss this option with you.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Nelson choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
