About: I've cared for my family's 2 sheepadoodles for 8 years, and consistently watch a cute little chihuahua who loves to play frisbee. I don't have experience in dogs with special needs, but I do have a highly flexible schedule for people that need pet care. I work for myself at home, and can work from anywhere if need be. I love going for walks, and am happy to take your pet out any time of the day. I work completely from home and for myself, so I have no schedule constraints and am available most of the time. I am about as flexible as it gets! I don't have a fenced yard, so pets in my home go for a couple walks. If you have a fenced yard, I throw balls and frisbees till your pet can't go anymore!
About: I’m a lifelong dog lover who grew up with golden retrievers, and I’ve been dog-sitting in Nelson for over two years. I’ve cared for puppies, seniors, high-energy dogs, and easygoing couch companions, and I enjoy adapting to whatever pace your pup prefers. Whether your dog wants to sniff every tree or prefers a more relaxed stroll, I’m all about making their time with me tail-waggingly fun! With a flexible work schedule, I’m able to accommodate a wide range of routines, visits, and energy levels. I’m all about making sure your dog feels comfortable, safe, and happy while you’re away—because every pup deserves to have a good time, even if their human is off doing human things. I am currently working a casual schedule. I am available for morning, afternoon and evening walks! I am available for pet sitting during the week or weekend! I have my own suite that has access to a grassy area out front. I am a few minutes walk to the graveyard trails. Dogs that stay with me will be taken on morning walk, mid afternoon walk and a longer nature walk in the early evenings!

About: I’ve been an animal lover all my life, growing up our house was nick named the zoo (we had many animals) I have taken care of dogs/cats of every kind since I was young. I’ve always had a passion for animals and taking care of not only my own, but my friends pets as well. My friends like to nickname me mama bear and the animal whisperer 😻 I’ve volunteered at spca and currently looking into opportunities out here in Nelson as I moved only a few months ago from Alberta. I’m a huge outdoors person, I love to hike, go for jogs and be in nature. I’m an empath and am really good with feeling people and pet energies, I’m also an early riser and have my own vehicle so I’m open to morning walks. I plan to open up my own pet sitting business in near future, and would love nothing more than to provide a warm welcoming environment for fur friends. I’m very kind and friendly, I can easily strike up conversation and get along with almost anyone. Feel free to ask me any questions and or meet me before hand. I’d love to get to know you and your pet needs more 😻 🐕 I am pretty flexible to work around a schedule, Monday and Wednesdays however I'm gone throughout the day till the evening due to college. I am focusing on my career, however enjoy having pet sitting on the side. Do note that I can do constant care for house sitting bookings, however depending on the type of care this can range anywhere from 100-150 a day. (normally this is for puppies and or dogs with high attention needs) I like a week notice for sittings, if short notice booking comes in less than a week, I do charge an extra fee to move around my schedule and to also provide the proper care for the animals ahead of time. For more details please message me. I always make sure fur friends are safe, being aware of my surroundings and double checking gates, doors and locks. I want to make sure they have plenty of water and food, and well taken care of. I like to imagine being in the shoes of if my cats were being taken care by someone, how would I want my fur babies to be treated and I’d want them to feel comfortable/loved! So I give that service back to others.
About: I grew up with dogs who've always been considered part of the family. As a lover of all animals, I've also had experience with cats, rabbits, rodents, and horses. I love being active in the outdoors and bringing my furry friends along! My bernedoodle Bailey and I often walk, run, hike, bike and ski among our local mountains and enjoy swimming in the lake on hot summer days. I've cared for dogs with high energy, low energy, puppies and seniors and am able to accomodate special needs your dog(s) may have. I'm a university student with a varying summer schedule, and am often out and about with my own dog. Don't hesitate to reach out with any dog walking, day care (partial or full day), or boarding requests. I have a 2 year old medium-large bernedoodle, Bailey, who is incredibly friendly, playful, affecctionate and gentle with smaller dogs. I'm comfortable caring for all ages, sizes and breeds of dogs, given that we've had a successful meet-and-greet and they are comfortable with Bailey if they'll be around her. I value maintaining the routines your pet is used to and fulfilling their needs and your requests for exercise and care. I am conviently located in town in Nelson with trails close by.
About: I have always cherished a profound and sacred connection with animals throughout my entire life. I had a very close relationship with my three pit bull labs growing up. Wherever I go, I find myself forming deep bonds with the animals around me, even though it's been a while since I've had a pet of my own. You might recognize me as that person at the dog park, striking up conversations with every pup that passes by. While I've always yearned to have an animal companion of my own, I believe it's crucial to provide them with the perfect environment for a fulfilling life. Unfortunately, my current rental doesn't permit pets. This is where you and your beloved pet come into the picture. It would be an absolute honor for me to spend time with your furry friend, embarking on adventurous journeys together. As an avid mushroom hunter and hiker for most of the year, I guarantee that our forest explorations will be nothing short of extraordinary. Plus, being relatively new to Nelson, I am eager to discover new sights and experiences the Koots has to offer. Caring for animals is second nature to me, and I have a wealth of experience in pet-sitting with positive reviews from their owners (which I'd be happy to share with you). Since relocating here, I've been entrusted with the care of my friends' pets during house sits, and I regularly tend to the animals at my partner's home. With my current work schedule allowing for flexibility, I have ample availability, even for last-minute requests for walks or home visits. Your pet's well-being and happiness are of utmost importance to me, and I'm eager to be their trusted companion. I hope to also build my reputation on Rover with your help. I currently work two days a week, which provides me with a significant amount of flexibility. This means I have ample availability for pet sitting, including last-minute requests for walks or home visits. I understand the importance of being reliable and accommodating, and I'm committed to ensuring that your cat receives the attention and care they deserve, even on short notice. Whether in the comfort of your own home, I prioritize your little furry family’s well-being. I promise to maintain routines, administer medications if needed, and provide companionship following your guidelines, and ensure their safety. I will communicate very well and clear so you know what is going on and how good of a time your pet is having!
About: Hello! I am a life-long animal lover of all kinds. I have experience in caring for cats, dogs of all sizes, and birds. I really appreciate getting to know each animal and their own unique personalities. I am comfortable to work with animals who need special care - including medicine or reactive tendencies. I love taking dogs for long walks, taking time to play and snuggle, and ensuring that each animal is well cared for. I lived with my cat, Booty, for 8 years til he passed on, so I also have experience with inviting pet-sitters to come stay in my home. I am a freelance writer, so I have a flexible schedule and am available to stay in your home as well if you would like overnight care. In my own home, my pets are free to roam wherever they want and get scheduled food times with the occasional treat. I am happy to align my care to the needs and routines of your animals and whatever else you require!
About: I had the pleasure of growing up on a farm in rural Alberta helping to care for many cats and other animals. Eight years ago I relocated to BC and have had the joys of cat ownership, as well fostering through the local SPCA. I absolutely am a crazy cat lady and will take exceptional care of your kitties! I work as an RN and can do some basic med administration. I occasionally do shift work so would not be taking pet sits during long stretches of work. I am very flexible with my time and can prioritize a pet routine in well around the few activities and home-bodying that I normally do! I am able to care for cats in your home or my home. Happy to chat more about this if I am a good fit for your cat!
About: What sets me apart as a sitter is the level of patience, compassion, and real-life experience I bring, especially with dogs who need a little extra understanding. I’ve cared for two rescue dogs with very different and challenging backgrounds, which has shaped how I approach every animal I look after. One of my dogs I found on the streets of the Philippines, where I nursed her back to health and helped her regain strength and trust. The other I adopted from Heart Hope and Rescue, and she came to me with severe fear due to past abuse. Through consistent care, gentle handling, and a lot of love, I’ve helped her grow into a confident, happy dog who can now be around men comfortably. Today, she’s incredibly affectionate and truly thrives. Because of these experiences, I’m especially skilled with nervous, shy, or rescue dogs who may need extra patience and reassurance. I understand how to read body language, build trust at their pace, and create a calm, safe environment. I’m also comfortable reinforcing basic training, maintaining routines, and giving dogs the attention and care they need to feel secure and happy. Above all, I genuinely love animals and treat every dog as if they were my own, making sure they feel safe, cared for, and completely loved while you’re away. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine, and because I work part-time, I have plenty of flexibility to give your dog the time, attention, and care they deserve. I’m available for both weekday and weekend boarding, and I structure my days to make sure pets are never left alone for long periods. In the mornings, I start the day with walks, feeding, and some playtime to help your dog burn off energy and feel settled. Throughout the day, I incorporate regular potty breaks, enrichment activities, and lots of one-on-one attention whether that’s play, training reinforcement, or just relaxing together. Because I’m home often, your dog will have consistent companionship and supervision. I also adapt my routine to match your dog’s specific needs. For high-energy dogs, I make sure they get plenty of exercise and stimulation, while more anxious or senior dogs get a calm, quiet environment with gentle care and extra comfort. Evenings are more relaxed, with another walk, dinner, and wind-down time filled with cuddles and companionship. Overall, I prioritize creating a safe, structured, and loving environment so your dog feels at home and well cared for every day they’re with me. I provide attentive, compassionate care tailored to each pet’s individual needs, whether in my home or in a client’s home. I prioritize safety by maintaining a clean, secure environment, closely supervising pets, and following any specific routines, dietary requirements, or medical instructions provided by the owner. Building trust is central to my approach, so I take time to understand each pet’s personality, comfort levels, and preferences, ensuring they feel calm and cared for. I also respect clients’ homes by keeping spaces tidy and communicating regularly with updates, so owners feel confident and reassured while they are away.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Nelson
Shelby took my 2 year old golden retriever, Abby, for a walk reasonably last-minute when I had to be away for work. Shelby was easy to coordinate with and stopped by to meet Abby ahead of time and learn her walking commands. Abby made quick friends with Shelby and I felt comfortable leaving her in good hands. I would definitely use Shelby again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Nelson choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
