“Julie and family were fabulous pet sitters for our Stella!! They were very accommodating of our changing schedules and were always very welcome and friendly to us and Stella.”

“Wow! This is my first time using Rover and I feel so blessed I found John and Asialee! They are such a sweet family that love dogs and care for them as if they are their own! They went above and beyond with accommodating pick up and drop off around when works best for us. Great communication right from the get go till the end our trip! We will definitely use them again! Coming from someone who wasn't sure about using Rover, I would highly recommend it to people!”
“Arshjot was awesome taking care of my dog, Hunter was very happy with his stay and he was well taken care of. Arshjot send me updates throughout Hunter’s stay. Hunter was very happy with the company of her dog and learned so much during his stay. Would definitely recommend and for sure will be coming back.”

“From the moment we met Paulo, it was clear our pup was in the most capable and caring hands. They took the time to understand our dog's routine—everything from feeding schedules to daily quirks—and reassured us with thoughtful updates and photos while we were away. Would definitely return.”

“Raine is clearly very knowledgeable. I feel very confident leaving Rue in her care. It’s is such a relief to know that Rue-B’s needs for a calm, confident caretaker are being met over and above expectations. I highly, highly recommend Raine. Superstar status ⭐️ Thanks Raine! I have a blissfully tired dog 🙂🐕💤”

About: I lost my Great Pyrenees 2 years ago. Since then my girlfriend and I fostered 3 dogs for about 9 months in total. It was hard but very rewarding. I miss hanging with dogs but can’t necessarily commit to my own. I work full time but just five minutes away. My 19 year old daughter lives with me. She has a cat but they are in a separate space. I love going to for walks around the neighborhood, along the dyke, Hope Slough, or the Vedder river. I have a fenced backyard but it’s gravel, a large deck and a garden (no grass). There is grass in the front yard but it’s not fenced. Your pup would have full access to the house but there are stairs up to the main level and stairs going outside. I don’t mind having pups on the couch or my bed. I enjoy the company. My house is pretty quiet. Dogs usually like watching the squirrels and neighborhood activities from my large front window. My 19 year old daughter lives in the basement suite with her cat. She loves animals too and can help with walks and potty breaks when I am at work. I find having a dog gives me purpose and joy. I can’t commit to a dog right now so this seems like a great alternative!
“Ryan is an amazing dog sitter. He is caring, able to manage specific needs and really helps you know your dog is in good hands. Ryan sends pics and updates for overnight boarding and you can tell he truly loves dogs! I will be reaching out to Ryan for all my dog sitting needs!”

“We have used Jimmy’s services twice and I can’t imagine using anyone else. This last time was for 3 weeks with both of our dogs and they were incredibly cared for and happy. Plus Jimmy sent us pictures constantly which was really appreciated. Thank you for everything Jimmy! I know Loki and Arte miss you guys already!”

“Ashleigh provided excellent care for Freddie. We were afraid he wouldn't want to leave with us after the fun time he had there. She was very flexible to our schedule which changed a few times.”

About: Nicole and I share a lifelong bond with pets, having grown up surrounded by them. Throughout our adult lives, we've been dedicated pet owners, currently cherishing our 5-year-old dog, Bowser. From puppyhood, we've diligently trained him, and my work-from-home setup has allowed for ample time to prioritize his training and exercise needs. In addition to our canine companion, I have a rich history of caring for cats, involving tasks such as feeding, cleaning litter, and ensuring their safety outdoors, a responsibility I've carried since childhood. Nicole, on the other hand, has always had the joy of growing up with dogs. Our collective experiences form a foundation of pet expertise, and our shared passion for animals is reflected in the years of dedicated pet care we bring to Rover. As dedicated artists working from home and committed dog parents, Nicole and I seamlessly integrate our flexible schedules to prioritize your furry companion's needs and well being. If you'd like, my wonderful dog Bowser is eager to keep your pet company during walks or visits. I love exploring different environments, so we can hit the trails or stroll through town, depending on what your pet enjoys. Making sure bathroom breaks are on a regular schedule is a top priority for me. I'm also a fan of training and playtime, so I'll gladly tend to any other needs your pet might have. I'm here to tend to your pet's specific needs, so you can feel at ease knowing they are in good hands with their new friend.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
