About: Our experience with animals extends far beyond casual pet ownership. We’ve spent years living closely alongside dogs and other animals in ways that required attentiveness, structure, adaptability, handling skills, and an ongoing willingness to learn and observe the individual in front of us. We have experience with a wide range of temperaments, energy levels, routines, and care needs — from highly active working-type dogs requiring engagement and structure, to sensitive dogs needing slower introductions and emotional awareness, to senior dogs benefiting from patience, comfort, and mobility-conscious care. Our approach is rooted less in domination or rigid expectation, and more in communication, observation, consistency, and building trust. We pay close attention to body language, stress levels, pacing, environmental influences, social comfort, and how each animal is coping and responding throughout the day. Daily life for us already revolves heavily around animals, outdoor time, enrichment, movement, and hands-on care, so dogs staying with us are integrated into an environment where attentiveness and involvement are already part of the rhythm of the home rather than something added on temporarily. We’re continually interested in learning more about behaviour, handling, enrichment, health, relationship dynamics, and the many small details that help animals feel understood, supported, and safe. Dogs are already a very integrated part of our daily lives and routines. Much of our time is naturally spent outdoors, moving between walks, training, enrichment, animal care, and day-to-day life alongside our own dogs and horses. Because of that, dogs staying with us are joining an environment where attentiveness, structure, companionship, and engagement are already consistently present rather than needing to be artificially created around a schedule. Our routines tend to include a balance of outdoor time, decompression, structured movement, rest, observation, and calm companionship throughout the day. We adjust pacing and activity levels depending on the individual dog — some thrive with more exploration and engagement, while others benefit more from slower routines, shorter outings, and a quieter atmosphere. Since animal care is already deeply woven into how we live, dogs in our care are not simply being “checked in on” between unrelated commitments. They are intentionally included in the flow of daily life with close presence, supervision, and consideration given to their comfort, energy, and overall well-being throughout the day. Each service from us consists of attentive, quality care tailored to your pet's individual needs and comforts, with consideration for healthy growth within their capacity. We care about creating a safe place for precious lives to challenge themselves, bond, play, rest, grow and thrive. Our care comes with one on one time with their handler, obedience training, loving boundaries, outdoor play time, opportunity to socialize with other pets, safe down time and emotional regulation as well as advocating protection throughout their experience with us.
About: I have taken care of dogs and puppies ever since I was a kid, neighbours, family, and friends would get me to babysit, feed, take out, and give treats and play with their animals . I am currently available every day of the week from anytime between 6AM-10PM. And I can occasionally work earlier or later than the time frame mentioned. I have a park across the street from my house that I go to walk my own pup. My dog is super friendly so he can keep ur pup company and if needed there is a crate for the dogs .
About: I have many years experience with dealing with all different types of dogs. I have had my home open to other peoples pets for several years and enjoy the ongoing love and silly personalities of all the dogs I look after big and small. I welcome the dogs into my home like they are my own. My husband works out of town which gives me tons of time to spend time with your animals filling my days doing what I love best! I have a fully fenced yard, with a large covered patio area all for the dogs! I allow the dogs lose in my home depending on their routines at home. I live in a neighborhood backing a large walking field giving me lots of areas to take the dogs for a walk aswell
“Sarah stayed with our cats and house-sat for a week during one of the hottest weeks of the summer! Not only did she take great care of the kitties, she also took treat care of the house and the gardens ensuring everything was properly maintained during our absence. We got regular updates and photos of all the cats from her, and she was very responsive to any messages sent her way. We have no hesitation re-booking or recommending Sarah for any pet parents out there!”

About: We’re experienced, reliable pet sitters with a genuine love for animals of all kinds. Through TrustedHousesitters, we’ve completed around 20 sits caring for a wide range of pets - everything from tiny Chihuahuas to large Akitas, energetic puppies to senior animals needing extra patience and care. We’re comfortable with different temperaments, routines, and special needs, including administering medication and supporting older pets. Animals have always been a big part of our lives. I grew up on a farm surrounded by chickens, ducks, horses, pigs, cats, dogs, hamsters, and gerbils, so caring for animals comes naturally to me. Felipe grew up with dogs and even helped start a community initiative in Colombia to find homes for street dogs - something he’s really passionate about. What sets us apart is the level of care and attention we give. Your pet won’t just be “looked after,” they’ll be genuinely cared for, engaged with, and loved. Pet care fits easily into our daily routine because we both work and study remotely. I work 8am–4pm PST with a lunch break and flexible breaks throughout the day, while Felipe has a fully flexible self-study schedule. This means one (or both) of us is almost always available for walks, playtime, feeding, and companionship. We’re currently travelling while pet sitting and are looking for opportunities in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. We treat every home with respect and every pet like they’re our own. We’re experienced in: Administering medication Handling pets with different temperaments Cleaning, feeding, and maintaining routines Coordinating vet or grooming visits if needed We love staying active, so if your dog enjoys long walks or hikes, we’re more than happy to provide that extra level of exercise and enrichment. Above all, we focus on keeping your pet safe, happy, and comfortable in their familiar environment while you’re away.
About: I’ve had a variety of pets since I was little and cared for them well. I am the go to for my friends and family when they are away. I’ve taken care of cats, dogs, rabbits, birds and fish. I currently work from home so I am flexible with my availability daily and weekly. I also have a separate space for pets who need their own area to feel comfortable if they are staying with me. I have parks and trails for daily dog walking. I am able to be flexible with pets needs in my home or at a client’s home. As a pet parent myself, I also have experience with pet grooming and administering medications if needed.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Hope maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Hope walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Hope choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
