“Samantha is great! It was the first time our Beau stayed with her. She sent photos and updates on how Beau was doing during his stay. He had other dogs he could play with and he loved that. He was happy and worn out when he came home. I will be using her again and would highly recommend her.”

“Thank you for taking care of Brownie. I can tell she is more comfortable to visit you! I am very comfortable to leave Brownie with you too! Thank you for responding me quickly. We will reach you again! 😄”

“Such a wonderful service provided with timely updates including pictures. I felt very comfortable leaving the kitties with her. I will definitely use her service again if I need to board Emma and Walley.”

“This was my dog Ozzy’s first boarding outside our house. From the minute he met John, I knew everything was going to be alright. John got down on the floor when introducing himself to Ozzy. With Ozzy being apprehensive meeting new people, I was concerned, but Ozzy took to John immediately. I was impressed by John keeping written notes regarding Ozzy’s preferences and eating times. We did a meet and greet initially, so that Ozzy would be familiar. On the day I dropped Ozzy off, he was already comfortable in John’s lovely home. John sent photos and text updates to let me know how Ozzy was doing. I would definitely recommend John. He is definitely a dog whisperer.”

“Jody took wonderful care of our pup! I wholeheartedly recommend her as a sitter. Our puppy had an amazing time on her farm, especially enjoying the chance to play and socialize with the other dogs. Jody made sure he felt loved and well cared for every step of the way. I’ll definitely be booking with her again in the future!”

“Shawn was wonderful! She kept me updated throughout the entire stay. My pups were very comfortable and happy during their stay. I would choose Shawn every time to watch my pups, they had an amazing time! I didn’t have to worry about my dogs once while they were in Shawn’s care!”

“Katie and her family were very welcoming when we did the meet and greet. It gave us a lot of confidence in leaving our dog with them for a week! She was very communicative and sent us photos. We would definitely use her again!”

“This was our first time using Erin and Matthew for our two dogs when we went out of town for several days. The communication was great and our dogs looked happy and healthy upon pickup. I felt like my boys were in good hands, we will be using them in the future when needed!”

About: I began volunteering at my local animal shelter at the age of 9 and have been caring for animals ever since. I have 20 years experience pet sitting for neighbors and I have my own 6 year old pitbull, Cleo, so I’m no stranger to energetic dogs. I’m a teacher, so my summers give me full flexibility to care for your animals! I love to walk dogs on local greenways and trails. SCHOOL YEAR UPDATE: I’m still happy to provide boarding, walking, and drop in visits outside of school hours. I am unable to be home or care for pets from 7am-3pm each day. If your dog can be left for 8 hours, boarding continues to be available during the school year. I have a fenced in backyard where your dog can play. If they like to play with a buddy, my dog will be their best friend!
“Our Golden adjusted very well with Taylor and her family. She sent a picture when we checked in to see how she was doing. We will definitely use Taylor for our next dog sitting needs. Thanks again, Taylor!”

“She is someone who is incredibly devoted to animals; her dedication and love are boundless. I had the absolute best experience knowing that Mia was staying in a home filled with plenty of attention, patience, and love. Karlie is always in constant communication, too. She has dogs of her own, and they truly made Mia's stay much more fun, as Mia is super friendly. Mia returned home ready to sleep and rest after days filled with fun and endless running around—in fact, she didn't even want to leave, given how wonderfully she had been treated at Karlie's house!”

“Emily took such good care of our dog! He had such a good time playing with the other dogs and Emily was great to communicate with. She was super flexible with drop off and pick up times and sent updates constantly. I highly recommend!”

“I would leave my pets with Kimberly again, I loved how well taken care of my pets were, she would send me pictures of my babies every day at their play times and meal times, she has great facilities and excellent place for my doggies to make friends and play on the day, thanks Kimberly.”

“Kari was an awesome selection to board our dog Mickey. She and her family happy and fun people and Mickey loved that. When we picked up Mickey he was a very happy boy. Tired from all of the play with Kari's family and dog. He is all tuckered out which is awesome for him. We will definitely have her to board our little boy in the future.”

“Our first time having Ashley and family board our puppy and we are happy. Our puppy, Luna, was very happy there and got a lot of playing in and slept very well on our way to Northern VA. We will repeat when in town next. She communicates well with us before and during visit. Looking forward to Luna having some more fun at their house.”

“Eve was fantastic with my nervous dog Howard and took great care of him and sent regular pics and updates to let me know he was doing well, and even took him for a few walks with her dogs. Her communication was great and her own dogs and cat were sweet and accepting of Howard too. Eve is very friendly and made me feel comfortable that Howard was safe with her. I'll recommend her and will use her services again myself!”

“We were a little nervous to leave our puppy for the first time, but after meeting Marah I felt much better and knew our puppy would be well taken care of. June had such a good time playing with other dogs all day, and we really appreciated getting pictures of her every day. It was like Disneyland for dogs and June was sad to leave. We will definitely rebook next time we are out of town!”

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
