“John did an excellent job of taking care of our Puddles. He has a very welcoming home, loving demeanor, and cares deeply for the dogs he watches. John did a great job of sending daily updates and was able to give the needed medication without a problem. Highly recommend.”

“Samantha and her family are truly gifted at boarding doggos. A friend recommended Sam's service and I was able to drop off my chaweenie on short notice. She hunkered down, and fit right in. A few photos each day reassured me that Darlinda was perfectly happy at "camp," so I didn't feel guilty!!”

“Copper LOVED his stay with Michelle! Even though our little pups is anxious and high maintenance (we even added in last-minute medication), Michelle took it all in stride and reassured us from the start that everything would be ok. We got daily pictures and updates that showed us Copper was fitting right in with their family routine and enjoying his new friendship with Michelle's dog. It was so reassuring during our travel to know that Copper was not only well-cared for but also happy. I highly recommend Michelle!”

“Katie and her family were very welcoming when we did the meet and greet. It gave us a lot of confidence in leaving our dog with them for a week! She was very communicative and sent us photos. We would definitely use her again!”

“Per usual Ashley was amazing! She's always so accommodating and has certainly earned herself a repeat client. Even when we had to pick up our dog due to a delayed flight, Ashley was so willing to work with us and oue changing schedule. Brooklyn has certainly made herself at home with Ashley and her family, and we're so happy to have found a petsitter we 100% trust and will continue to use. :)”

“Sidney did an incredible job with my German Shepherd! She sent pictures and checked in regularly to put me at ease. If you’re in Roanoke, Sidney as your pet sitter is the best choice you can make!!”

“Kevin is very knowledgeable about dogs and was very patient with my American bulldog “Goose”. It was his first time being away from home and was scared and was being aggressive. Kevin worked with him and made him feel comfortable and part of the family. I feel 1000% comfortable leaving my dog in his care.”

“This was my first time using Donna for my fur baby and let me just tell you she spoiled him rotten. She was so attentive to him and made him feel right at home. When I first met Donna she was very welcoming to both me and my little one. She made me feel at ease. I knew I made right choice and I definitely be using her services again. Thank you so much Donna for all the love and care you gave to my lilman . ❤️❤️”

“Elise was absolutely amazing! Our pup didn’t want to leave! Elisa had great communication and even cooked eggs for him when he wouldn’t eat. Our pup got along great with Lennie too, I got so many pics of them playing! I highly recommend Elise and we will definitely be using her services again!”

“Janet was wonderful! This was the first time I've left our chocolate lab with someone we didn't know. She had a great time at doggie day camp, playing with her dogs, lots of walks, including to the creek, and treats galore! We are grateful to have found someone who will love our girl and take such good care of her while we are gone.”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and cats since I was young and had dogs in the home since I was an infant! I know very well what it means to take good care of a pet - they are family. Since living away from my family dog, I am in need of some dog therapy! I’m a grad student with weekday flexibility and am looking to look after dogs only when I am home and will be able to tend to them Pets are like family and they will be treated as such! I promise to love on your pet and make sure they are having fun and getting all their needs met!
“Karin and her family took great care of my dog. He had a great time and was very happy when I picked him up. I greatly appreciated the pictures Karon sent and her great communication.”

“Ms. Jenny did a wonderful job with our little girl Sophie! Updated us with awesome pictures and her fur babies took to Sophie wonderfully. Sophie was glad to make new friends. We highly recommend Ms. Jenny.”

About: I have been dog sitting since my freshman year of high school to raise money for a school trip to Costa Rica that I attended in 2023. I am currently available anytime of the week. I am willing to stay overnight if needed. Or even stopping by to walk/let out the pets. I would rather not do it in my home just because I do not have a fenced in yard and I have three other dogs in my home.

“Joe was great, he kept me up to date with my dog as well as sending me pics. He actually helped me to know that my boy is high energy lollz. He is usually not with me. Back to Joe, he was patient with Creed inspite of him not being able to Unwind, and get settled due to being in a new environment. Joe is kind, patient with a laid back vibe. Thanks Joe again for taking care of Creed.”

As of November 2026, there are 179 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Nace. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
95% of sitters in Nace can provide daily exercise during dog boarding stays. Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, this may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Nace home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Nace.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Nace sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
