Rules and restrictions
Be sure to review this information before your trip and plan accordingly. And remember that all airlines have different restrictions, so read each airline’s rules before you book a new trip.
- International policy: Pets must travel as freight if going to Ireland, Great Britain, Kenya, South Africa, Hong Kong, and the United Arab Emirates.
- Transporting animals to India is not allowed.
- Pets allowed in main cabin: dogs and cats under 8kg. Generally, in-cabin crates should be soft-sided and fit under the plane seat in front of you.
- Pets allowed in baggage hold: dogs, cats, hares, and rabbits over 8kg. For cargo crates, the ASPCA says that crates should be large enough for your pet to sit, stand, and turn around in.
