Pet Policy
Rules and restrictions
Be sure to review this information before your trip and plan accordingly. And remember that all airlines have different restrictions, so read each airline’s rules before you book a new trip.
- Domestic policy: Pets are allowed on select flights within the 48 contiguous US, in the main cabin as well as the baggage hold (except not the baggage hold for New York).
- Pets allowed in main cabin: cats and dogs. Sun Country requires that the carrier be for one pet only, have a leak-proof bottom, and be well ventilated. The size of the carrier should be no larger than 16 inches by 10 inches by 8 inches and must fit under the seat in front of you. Seat selections in a bulkhead or exit row seat are not allowed when traveling with pets, and a middle seat is recommended, as it has the most under seat space.
- Pets allowed in baggage hold: cats and dogs. Pets are not allowed on connecting flights or on layovers greater than five hours. For cargo crates, the ASPCA says that crates should be large enough for your pet to sit, stand, and turn around in.
- Maximum of four pets per flight, one per traveler.
- Restricted pets: hedgehogs, ferrets, insects, rodents, snakes, spiders, sugar gliders, reptiles, all birds (household or non-household), animals improperly cleaned and/or foul odor, any unusual or exotic animals, and other animals as determined by Sun Country.
