Rules and regulations
Be sure to review this information before your trip and plan accordingly. And remember that all airlines have different restrictions, so read each airline’s rules before you book a new trip.
- International policy: On flights to Iceland, you need an import license to transport an animal.
- Pets allowed in main cabin: cats and dogs. Generally, in-cabin crates should be soft-sided and fit under the plane seat in front of you.
- Other pets/animals must travel in baggage hold. For cargo crates, the ASPCA says that crates should be large enough for your pet to sit, stand, and turn around in.
- Must book pet travel within 24 hours of booking your ticket.
- Must complete the certificate for transportation of animals document before traveling with pets.
- Pets must be at least eight weeks old to travel. Pets under 14 weeks require a veterinary certificate stating they are approved for air transport.
Fees
Service dogs travel free of charge, but be sure to keep these extra costs in mind when traveling with other pets.
Pet in cabin:
- Domestic flights = 390 DKK, 425 NOK, 425 SEK, 50 EUR, 60 USD
- European and Scandinavian flights = 540 DKK, 650 NOK, 650 SEK, 70 EUR, 80 USD
- Flights to/from Asia and the US = 770 DKK, 890 NOK, 890 SEK, 95 EUR, 115 USD
- Pet in baggage hold: Domestic flights = 520 DKK, 620 NOK, 620 SEK, 67 EUR, 80 USD
- European and Scandinavian flights = 660 DKK, 850 NOK, 850 SEK, 90 EUR, 105 USD
- Flights to/from Asia and the US = 900 DKK, 1100 NOK, 1100 SEK, 115 EUR, 140 USD
