More information
Motel 6 makes being pet-friendly a priority. All locations are pet-friendly and they do not have weight limits on pets, so bring your great dane! Motel 6 allows two pets per room. As a pet-friendly hotel, Motel 6 partnered with the American Kennel Club. AKC members get a special discount, whether they’re traveling for business or leisure.
To make staying in a hotel easier for both you and your pet, make sure to bring familiar items to make them more comfortable like a blanket, toys and treats. You can also expect to need to keep your dog on leash in public spaces, so having their favorite collar, harness and leash at the ready makes it easier for everyone.
In an unfamiliar place, pets may not act exactly as they would at home. Plan spend time with them in your guest room to make them comfortable and when leaving them for the first time, check to make sure they’re not making noise that might disrupt other guests of Motel 6.
About
William Becker and Paul Greene, two local contractors, founded Motel 6 in Santa Barbara in 1962. They wanted to build motels with rooms at low rates, starting at $6 per night (equivalent to $50 in 2018), which is where the name “Motel 6” came from. The nightly rate would cover building costs, land leases, and janitorial supplies. Motel 6 has locations across the US and Canada.
Motel 6 prides themselves in having clean rooms and expert service, all at an affordable price. Motel 6 has complimentary morning coffee, an expandable tv in the guest rooms and kids are able to stay for free. Additionally, many locations have a swimming pool and guest laundry facilities.
