Rules and restrictions
Be sure to review this information before your trip and plan accordingly. And remember that all airlines have different restrictions, so read each airline’s rules before you book a new trip.
- Pets are not allowed to travel in the main cabin.
- Pets allowed in baggage hold: dogs, cats, small birds (that eat seeds, fruit, and insects), rabbits, ferrets, hamsters, marmots, squirrels, chinchillas. For cargo crates, the ASPCA says that crates should be large enough for your pet to sit, stand, and turn around in.
- Crates must be constructed of durable plastic, fiberglass, wood or material of similar strength, and be leak-proof. Crates must have proper ventilation, be lockable, and be escape-proof. Crates which are made entirely of welded mesh or wire mesh except the bottom surface are not suitable for air transport.
- Pets not accepted for travel: French bulldogs and bulldogs.
- Pets must be at least eight weeks old to travel.
- Pets must be in good health, should not cause harm to other animals or baggage, and should not have an offensive odor.

- Arrive at least 120 minutes before your departure time.
