- Domestic policy: Emotional support animals are only allowed on flights to the USA.
- International policy: Pets are not allowed in cabin on flights to London or in the cargo hold on flights to or from London.
- Brazil only allows the entry of birds.
- Argentina and Panama require an animal health certificate and rabies shot certification valid for a max of one year.
- Animals going into South Africa must travel as cargo.
- Pets allowed in main cabin: dogs, cats, tortoises, birds, etc. Generally, in-cabin crates should be soft-sided and fit under the plane seat in front of you.
- Pets allowed in baggage hold: dogs and cats. For cargo crates, the ASPCA says that crates should be large enough for your pet to sit, stand, and turn around in.
- Pets not allowed for travel: weasels (ferrets, pine martens, etc.) and brachycephalic dogs and cats.Brachycephalic breeds are those with a shortened head and nose, and flat face such as pugs, shih tzus, and Chihuahuas. They typically have trouble breathing, which flying can exacerbate.
