Rules and restrictions
Be sure to review this information before your trip and plan accordingly. And remember that all airlines have different restrictions, so read each airline’s rules before you book a new trip.
- International policy: No limit on number of pets you can carry on but there may be limits on the number of pets a passenger can bring into the destination.
- Pets are not allowed in the main cabin with the exception of falcons on flights between Dubai and certain destinations in Pakistan.
- For all incoming flights into Dubai, animals can only be transported as cargo. For cargo crates, the ASPCA says that crates should be large enough for your pet to sit, stand, and turn around in.
- For all other flights, falcons, cats, dogs, and pet birds can travel as checked baggage as long as total travel time is less than 17 hours.
- All animals accepted for transportation with Emirates must have a valid import permit issued by the destination country and a valid health certificate (including any applicable vaccination records).

Keep these extra costs in mind when traveling with pets.
- Animal and cage combined do not exceed 23kg and 59 in/150cm = USD 500
- Animal and cage combined weigh between 24-32 kg and dimensions between 59in/150cm and 118in/300cm = USD 650
- Animal and cage combined weigh over 32kg and dimensions between 59in/150cm and 118in/300cm = USD 800
- Cage dimensions exceed dimensions 118in/300cm = Cargo
