Pet Policy
Rules and restrictions
Be sure to review this information before your trip and plan accordingly. And remember that all airlines have different restrictions, so read each airline’s rules before you book a new trip.
- Pets allowed in main cabin: domesticated cats, dogs, rabbits, and household birds on Cessna 402 flights. Generally, in-cabin crates should be soft-sided and fit under the plane seat in front of you. The maximum limits for under-seat stowage are kennel dimensions of less than 12” x 6” x 8” and a pet maximum weight of 35 pounds.
- Only one pet per aircraft.
- Cats need to be transported in kennels, where dogs can be with or without kennels.
- Only small cats and dogs under 20 lbs. can travel on flights to/from New York City (JFK).
- All pets must be accompanied by a traveling passenger who is the owner or a designee who assumes full responsibility for the animal. Cape Air will not transport pets as unaccompanied freight. Cape Air will not transfer pets to other airlines. Customers must make their own arrangements directly with other airlines for connecting flights (interline and/or codeshare) with other carriers.
- See site for special conditions under which dogs may be transported between Hyannis, New Bedford, Nantucket, or Martha’s Vineyard with or without a kennel.
