Rules and regulations
Be sure to review this information before your trip and plan accordingly. And remember that each airline has different restrictions, so be sure to read each airline’s rules before you book a new trip.
- Pets that are allowed in main cabin: dogs and cats weighing less than 8kg. Generally, in-cabin crates should be soft-sided and fit under the plane seat in front of you.
- Pets that are allowed in baggage hold: dogs and cats. For cargo crates, the ASPCA says that crates should be large enough for your pet to sit, stand, and turn around in.
- Pets that are not accepted as checked baggage: birds, fish, rabbits, and rodents.
- Service animals are allowed in main cabin free of charge.
- Pet must be at least 12 weeks old to travel (16 weeks old for the US).
- On flights to the UK, pets are not allowed in the cabin.

Pet in cabin:
- Flights within Europe = €50 / CHF 60 / $70 per one way
- Intercontinental flights = €70 / CHF 80 / $90 per one way
Pet in baggage hold (53x36x38cm):
- Flights within Europe = €100 / CHF 120 / $130 per one way
- Intercontinental flights = €150 / CHF 180 / $200 per one way
Pet in baggage hold (larger than 53x36x38cm):
- Flights within Europe = €200 / CHF 240 / $300 per one way
- Intercontinental flights = €300 / CHF 360 / $450 per one way
