Rules and restrictions
Be sure to review this information before your trip and plan accordingly. And remember that all airlines have different restrictions, so read each airline’s rules before you book a new trip.
- Pets that are allowed in main cabin: dogs, cats, and birds with weight of pet and the container less than 7kg. Generally, in-cabin crates should be soft-sided and fit under the plane seat in front of you. For cargo crates, the ASPCA says that crates should be large enough for your pet to sit, stand, and turn around in.
- Pets that are allowed in baggage hold: dogs, cats, and birds with weight of pet and the container less than 45kg.
- Each adult passenger may bring one pet in the cabin and two pets as checked baggage.
- Pet must be older than 16 weeks.
- Emotional support dogs are only allowed for flights to or from the US and must provide a doctor’s note prescribed within one year from initial travel date.
