Rules and restrictions
Be sure to review this information before your trip and plan accordingly. And remember that all airlines have different restrictions, so read each airline’s rules before you book a new trip.
- Pets allowed in the main cabin: small pets under 6kg, such as dogs, cats, birds, and other domestic animals. Generally, in-cabin crates should be soft-sided and fit under the plane seat in front of you. The animal must be kept in their container during the flight and placed at the passenger feet of your seat.
- Pets allowed in the baggage hold: dogs, cats birds, and domestic animals. For cargo crates, the ASPCA says that crates should be large enough for your pet to sit, stand, and turn around in. Container or cage should have the following information: the full name of the passenger, their address, and weight of the animal. Travel in the hold provides all necessary guarantees, animals are placed in a warm and pressurized compartments.
- Transport of animals in the hold is prohibited on flights from and to UK. Delivery must only be made by freight.
- Several countries may require documents such as veterinary certificates, import licensing, vaccination books, ID chips, tattoo, or other requirements.
- A limited number of animals is accepted on board depending on the type of the aircraft.
