I think All My Dogs Have Human Names, Such As: Norman, Milton, Herman, Bernie, & Rivkah. My Cats Have Real Cat Names, Like, Sweet P, Macavity, & Gizzzmo.

  2. Art Carnage says

“Astro” should be under Pop Culture, not sports. Yes, the Houston Astros *used* to be a baseball team, but that was years ago. Anyone naming their dog Astro these days, is doing it because of The Jetsons, not because of a defunct baseball team.

  10. Deb says

I have 4 dogs. Each name matches their personalities. Zoey, Molly, Brody and Titan. The boys are brothers but are different size wise. Brody is bouncy and alert and small, Titan is large and a gentle giant. Zoey is bouncy and Molly is mellow.

  11. Rick says

Through our married life, we have had numerous dogs.
    Sonny: malamute
    Andy: Old English Sheepdog
    J.R.: Cocker Spaniel
Randy (our favorite, but don’t tell the others): Golden Retriever
    Homer: Chocolate Lab
And our newest and current and only. Freddy: a short-legged idiot mix from a shelter.
We love(d) all of our dogs. Each had a distinct personality. We miss all of those who have crossed the ‘rainbow bridge’ and remember them with fondness. Freddy is a handful and because he was a stray we don’t know any of his previous history. He is a very active dog and doesn’t relate well to strangers. but given time, he becomes very attached to people. Our daughter recently moved back in with us, and it took four days before he would not bark and growl when she came in the house. Now he follows her around and is happy for the attention she can now give him.

  12. etamni says

When I was young, we had a dog named “Rocky” but this wasn’t a pop culture reference — indeed, this predated the “Rocky” movies by many years — we were having trouble coming up with a name we all liked. Well, he was out in the grass in the back yard and someone said he looked like a pile of rocks. The name stuck. He’s long gone now, but it’s neat that his name is number one in any category!

  13. Bryan says

I have a female German Shepherd and we named her Gemma, from Sons of Anarchy due to her black and blonde hair.

    • Jourdan says

I love that you named her Gemma! I also love that show, have every season and was just watching it actually lol. I am going to be getting male and female rott pups and I was thinking about naming them after Jax and Tara :) Love to know someone else out there who loves that show :)

    • Debra says

I have a tiny Morkie. Her name is Ally. She is a handful. My daughter has her brother. She named him VazPoochie. I think she should have named him Mr. Sprinkles. He is 4 months old and having a difficult time with potty training. But he is so darn cute.

  16. Shirley says

Rottweiler/German Shepherd/Black Lab/Collie mix – named Deucalion (pronounced DEW-kay-lee-un) from Dean Koontz’s Frankenstein, but we just call him Duke.
