Our dog is a senior dog with limited eye sight. She has a detailed routine and takes several medications. Jessica did a great job taking care of Roo and following our instructions. She provided frequent updates and photos. We would use her again.

About: I've been helping care for friends' dogs on and off for several years through drop-in visits and daily care. My experience includes feeding, providing fresh water, potty breaks, walks, playtime, administering basic care, and making sure pets feel comfortable and safe while their owners are away. As an active person who enjoys walking and running, I understand the importance of exercise and mental stimulation for dogs. I treat every pet with patience, attention, and affection, and I strive to provide dependable care that gives both pets and their owners peace of mind. As a stay-at-home mom with a flexible schedule, I have availability throughout the day for drop-in visits, walks, feeding, playtime, and companionship. I'm active and enjoy spending time outdoors, making me a great fit for dogs who need exercise and attention. I strive to be dependable, communicative, and accommodating to each pet's unique routine and needs. Your pet's safety and comfort are my top priorities. I follow each owner's care instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, medications, exercise needs, and household rules. I provide a calm, loving environment and pay close attention to each pet's behavior and well-being. Whether in my home or yours, I treat every pet as if they were my own and keep owners updated with photos and messages for peace of mind.

About: Animals have always been at the center of my life, as a child my mom and I showed dogs almost every weekend. With that came the responsibility of feeding, socializing, grooming, and cleaning up after furry friends. In those years I met many different breeds and learned so much about the needs and habits of dogs. In my adult years, I never lost that love, always having pets of my own and finding such joy in caring for them I decided to start looking into making a career out of what I love the most. This led to a job with Petco where my knowledge of animal care was extended beyond just dogs and cemented that working with animals was something I couldn't live without. I still help out at my local store with stocking and am in school for veterinary technology. In the past I have worked at a veterinary hospital giving comfort to animals who come to visit, drawing blood, assisting in appointments, walking dogs, general cleaning duties, and providing company to animals staying for extended periods of time. I am able to administer medication to animals during sitting if necessary and am also a huge fan of fetch/ tug and all the other fun doggie activities for our more active friends. Although my love for dogs is beyond measure, kitties are my weakness, no furry friends are excluded. Please reach out for any of your pet sitting or dog walking needs! I currently work full time but do have flexible scheduling. I am available for morning walks or drop ins between 8:30-11 on most weekdays. I am available on weekends for walking or sitting.Available on week nights . If needed I am flexible and can accommodate other days. I would never accept a job where I did not believe I could give your furbaby adequate time. I know how important routine is to animals and I will follow any instructions given to tee. I do not offer care in my home as my apartment does not allow but when I care for your animals they will be treated as if they are my own. There will be no lack of love or playtime and I will be sure the safety of your pet is my top priority while they are in my care.

About: Hi, I’m Daphne! As a military wife, I understand that life can bring some unexpected, last minute schedule changes. So if there’s a day/weekend where you have to be away, I’d be more than happy to help watch over your fur baby! As a fitness instructor who values keeping an active lifestyle, I dedicate time to my own dogs by taking them out on neighborhood walks, trails, or play dates to the dog parks — so if you need care full of fun for your pup, look no further! Both of my dogs, Presley and Winston, play well with other dogs but can still be old souls who lay around and sleep all day too. While my husband is deployed until 2027, I want to continue helping out dogs in our community. A bit about our fam: We have a passion for animal rescue and welfare. We’ve fostered, volunteered, and have been active in our animal shelter. I have background handling both small and big dogs, dogs with high energy, and defeated dogs who have had overall rough lives. If we see any dog in need, no matter if it’s at 11pm, in the rain, or running through the roads, we will without hesitation, stop to help give that dog whatever it is they may need. We have come across many strays and have helped reunite them with their families or have found them forever homes with the help of our local animal shelters. Our dream life is working alongside a local animal rescue back home after military life and continuing to rescue & rehabilitate more dogs in need! If you need those “after hours” drop off/pick up times — don’t hesitate to ask! I‘m currently home full-time so I am flexible with your schedule. My camera roll is filled with pics of my own dogs so you can expect constant photos, videos, and updates on your baby throughout their time with me! What you can expect: I separate dogs at feeding times and keep them in their individual crate overnight. This is for their safety as I wouldn’t want anything harmful happening to them overnight when I am not watching! They may behave well in your home but in new environments, I want to take extra precautions. The dogs are not inside for more than 2 hours as I let them outside for potty breaks and outdoor playtime often, with weather conditions kept in mind. My goal for drop-ins is to make each visit feel familiar and stress-free by sticking to their routine as much as possible and caring for them just like you would!

Where to begin with Christina and her services, she is outstanding. First of all I have a 130 pound Cane Corso and a Pitty that the size alone will send others running. Christina has owned large breed dogs and understands their language. We had several meet and greets because I was going to be out of the country and I wanted everyone to be comfortable while I was gone. Communication was sporty during my trip but not because of Christina, I just didn't have wifi often due to my location. I never worried that my dogs weren't in loving hands. Christina stayed at my home too, my dogs are indoor pets not backyard dogs. I offered to buy Christina food but she meal preps so that was again one less worry for me. When I got home she had even washed her sheets and my home was clean, this wasn't her job but I appreciate her going that extra mile again. My dogs were happy to see me but were not stressed out as they have been before with other sitters. Christina is who I will always want in my future, I love her and am so grateful for her and Rover for bringing her into my families life.

Our house was left spotless as well. I can't thank Mari enough for a marvelous job she did. I felt like a relative was staying with my Bella. Mari cares for animals as her own children. Aaron was fantastic with our zoo! We received pictures and updates each day about our 3 dogs and 3 birds while on vacation. He ensured they had food and clean water each day and even tackled the insanity of our feathered escape artists and overly excited shepherd. House sitting he definitely had his hands full but took great care of them and left the house just as clean as we left it. Communication was fantastic and we would definitely use him again!

Megan was amazing with our dog Cerberus! We had her watch our GSD for 12 days and coordinating with her prior to coming over was a breeze, she was very accommodating and easy to work with. During her stay she was amazing with our dog, she sent us updates every day and when we returned he was in good spirits and not at all anxious (though perhaps a bit sad to see her go). A major winter storm hit while we were gone and she handled it great, going above and beyond making sure both our dog and home were okay until we got back. HIGHLY recommend Megan to anyone with anxious or particular dogs, she is great and your pet will be in good hands!

FAQs for House Sitting - Birchwood

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Birchwood on Rover is $44.4 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 241 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Birchwood. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Birchwood walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Birchwood maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Birchwood choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Birchwood. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
