“Finding a dog sitter who only watches small breeds can be tricky, so we’re incredibly grateful to have found Katie! She was communicative, caring, and always reassured us that our little guy was doing well. We’ll definitely be calling her our go-to sitter for future trips!”

“Melanie and David were fantastic! I was driving cross country from the east coast to the west coast, and really needed a place for my dog to stay while I explored some national parks. Melanie and David were incredibly accommodating to my drop off and pickup times, and they made sure Maple had a blast while I was off exploring! I was definitely nervous leaving my dog in a new place, but they communicated with me every step of the way, and gave me frequent updates on how everything was going. Maple came home tired and happy at the end of her stay, thank you Melanie and David!”

About: I love dogs and try to include them in everything I do, hikes, farm chores, etc. I’m studying to become a vet so I can’t commit to my own dog long term. However, I have been fostering puppies and caring for pets for years. I specialize in puppy care, potty training, commands and socializing. I am currently taking classes through Montana State. However I space out my schedule to have plenty of time to care for your pets. I don’t love when dogs are left inside for long periods of time and prioritize getting them out of the house for the majority of the day. I live on a 20 acre farm property where your pet will have plenty of room to roam. There is a pond on property if you pet loves swimming. There is a small portion of the property that is fenced, however due to having mules on the property, I will never leave your dog outside unattended. We have a super energetic friendly pup who always loves to play if your pet is up for it. I love hiking, running, walking and try to include the pups in all of that.

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is my patience, responsibility, and genuine love for animals. I have experience caring for dogs of all ages, including puppies and senior dogs that need extra attention. I easily adapt to each pet’s needs to make them feel safe and happy. I also enjoy spending time playing with them and teaching good behaviors Taking care of my pets is an important part of my daily routine. Every day, I make sure to feed them, give them clean water, and spend time playing or taking them for a walk. Once a week, I check their hygiene, clean their spaces, and make sure they are healthy and comfortable I take care of pets with great attention and love, making sure they always feel comfortable and safe. In my home, I prepare a clean and calm space where they can rest and play. When I’m at the client’s home, I follow their instructions to maintain the pet’s usual routine. About: I’ve had my own dogs & cats all my life and love to love them! I’ve dog sat 7 dogs at one time and they were all such happy campers! I do not currently live with all of my pets! Puhi and Bass, my cats, live with me. I am currently a full-time student and work part time at a local restaurant. I do have lots of free time where I would love to take care of some dogs and cats to fill my time. I am very aware of my surroundings when I’m in charge of other peoples animals. I can crate them if needed and walk them as much as needed, etc.

About: I’ve grown up with German shepherds all my life, taken care of the neighbors pets, attentive to pet needs, and able to exercise and engage animals well! Currently I am a full time student at MSU, offering extended amounts of time to dedicate to be with pets flexible with my school schedule. Offering some mornings, evenings, depending on the day, and weekends! I have a house that has a large backyard space with grass and concrete, but no fence. I currently do not have pets of my own so they would not run into any animals there. I am tidy person and effectively manage my time, allowing me to be at clients houses in a timely manner or pick up pets in a timely manner as well.

About: I’ve had personal owner experience with dogs of different breeds, sizes, and reactivity levels. My own dog was reactive to people and dogs before going through training. He passed a year ago and I’m hoping to help out other dog parents on here while also getting some much needed puppy time! I’m looking to get outside and love your dog like my own! I work part time, so I have a lot of extra time and flexibility in my schedule to walk or check in on your pets! I would give at least least 2 walks a day. I would offer other enrichment activities we can do at home, for example my dog always liked treats tied in a towel that he’d have to unravel. I would personalize anything to fit what the animal needs!

We got so lucky with this lovely couple, watching our two Bernese mountain dogs. My husband and I were seriously worried they wouldn’t want to come home with us! Cathy is kind, communicative, and just the best.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.

97% of sitters in Big Sky can provide daily exercise during dog boarding stays. Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, this may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.

During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Big Sky home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Big Sky.

Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

You and your Big Sky sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in MT ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Adding another pup to the pack? Most sitters and walkers offer a reduced rate for additional dogs. You’ll find these exact rates listed under the "Services" tab on any sitter's profile. Since every dog is unique, final pricing may vary depending on the level of care required.
