Ellie and Sarah were amazing. Great responsiveness and willing to work with a friend for a hand off. Not to mention they were able to accommodate me last minute. So many cute pics of Dash romping around with their cute pup. I will be using them again!

I’ve had 10 goats, 2 dogs, 2 cats, lots of chickens, and 2 cows in my little dead end in Belfast. I’ve been helping house sit and take care of friends animals for 10 years and I’d love to come meet your furry friends! I am 20 years old and currently exploring the world and what I want to do in the future but while I’m home my schedule is super flexible! I go on long walks everyday anyway and I would love you bring your fur baby with me. I am very responsible and you can count on me to take great care of you pets.

Alison was very conscientious and thorough in staying with my two Cavaliers. They were VERY happy pups while she stayed with them! She kept me informed about how they were doing, which allowed me to relax while I was gone. She also left my home in excellent condition—i never would have known anyone was here! I highly recommend Alison.

Jess communicated well before and throughout the stay, sent updates and pictures, and gave us peace of mind while we were away. When our travel plans were delayed, she was flexible and stayed later than planned so Rollo wouldn’t have to be alone too long, which we really appreciated. Most importantly, Rollo was happy and content when we got home.

About: Passionate about animals. Worked at the MSPCA as a volunteer. Have had dogs my whole life! Love walking and playing with dogs! Will go the extra mile to help dogs in need. I am lenient with my schedule so I will be able to have more time for dogs. I love spending one on one time with dogs/ animals. My cats are dog friendly as long as your dog is cat friendly. I do have pet hamsters but they are roomed in another room that dogs will not be allowed in. I live with my boyfriend who loves dogs as well and will spend time with them as well. I hope that you’ve will let me watch and take care of your dog! Thank you!

Thank Ann! She was everything we hoped for and more. We have a cat who can be a challenge, with his funny ways and she rolled with it - even turning him into a friend. Can’t thank her enough! Also, she left the house as near or neater than when we left! Truly grateful!!

Jill was a godsend with my two Portuguese Water Dogs. They can have some anxiety/behavioral issues and she handled them with experience and ease. They were relaxed, calm, and happy when we returned from our trip. I feel very lucky to have found her on Rover and I hope that she is available the next time we go away.

About: I am always the first to be called when a friend needs doggy daycare or house sitting with dogs, cats, and often other animals. I’ve fostered and found homes for rescues internationally and domestically. I’ve worked for a doggy daycare where I was responsible for 50-70 dogs with a crew of 2-4 people. I also spent a few months off and on taking care of 10-22 huskies while part of the herd were sled racing. I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes and enjoy seeing all of their unique personalities. I’ve loved animals since I was small. We always had cats when I was little, as well as ducks, chickens, guinea pigs, rabbits, my turtle boy China B, parakeets, and a Senegal parrot foster. I was surprised with a rescue dog when I was 10, Hemingway. It was an amazing experience and I helped train Hemmy to be a service dog for my grandmother who was visually impaired. Winter rates are now $250/day for basic overnights, includes 3 pets. Will adjust include extra rates accordingly to animals and household needs. I’m self employed and have the flexibility to set my daily schedule around your animals needs and regular routine. Lots of scritches, play time and love are part of my commitment to your pets. I am available for short and long walks (depending on your animals needs and ability), playtime, companionship, love and affection, meals and snacks as well as monitoring medication if needed.

About: I have yet to meet someone who can out-dog-person me! Dogs are the best part of life. I have a German Shepherd and an English Pointer who face the brunt of my dog voice, personalized jingles, etc., - but out of respect for their patience I'm offering my services to other dogs! I have experience ranging from potty training new puppies to distributing meds to senior dogs and caring for them post-operation. I love to bring my dogs (and yours) on outdoor adventures in our midcoast community - hiking, swimming, lounging in the sun, and breaking out the snowshoes for winter. We'll wear each other out! I work at a public school and I’m a grad student - so I have lots of time to care for pets during the summer and school vacation times! During the academic year, I’m available weekends and weekdays after 4pm. I live in a small house with two big dogs (one being a senior hound), which is why I don't offer care for your pets at my own home. I will utilize whatever safety plans you put in place when I care for your pet - whether you have a dog that's great in your fenced-in backyard or a flight-risk that needs to be harnessed and leashed.

Hayleigh was so attentive to our dogs and their individual needs. She was great at communicating while we were gone. Hayleigh even made an extra trip to our house to meet the dogs and learn about their daily routine. I will definitely be booking her in the future and recommend her to any dog parent!

Highly recommend Erin for your critter care!! 11/10!!! She watched out 2 dogs, cat, chickens, and house for a week and a half and did such an amazing job. She was very communicative, giving us updates every night. She left the house cleaner than when we left and just did such a good job with our animals. We will absolutely be having Erin help us again and you should too!!

FAQs for House Sitting - Belfast

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Belfast on Rover is $61.05 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 146 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Belfast. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Belfast walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Belfast maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Belfast choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
