“Tabitha always takes such great care of my cat!!! I am so grateful for her ! She truly loves animals and it makes going away on vacations so much easier knowing our fur baby is well taken care of !”

About: I have taken care of animals my entire life, I am a nature and animal enthusiast at heart genuinely. Would love to help out anyone with their critter I work part time and study in school, I am off school for the summer or so , wanting to hone in on my communication and caregiving skills I have a fenced in yard that I let my cat Kai outside to frolic around , I am pretty relaxed and I often will let the animal decide what they want to do
“Nicole was absolutely outstanding. She checked on, fed, and loved on our two kitties while we were gone for 2 weeks. She took such good care of them! She went above and beyond - took in our packages, took up our trash, and even cleaned up kitty litter that the cats tracked through the house. Her communication was amazing and she sent regular updates and pictures. We felt so comfortable having Nicole at our home while we were gone. We will 1000% have Nicole take care of our animals again!”

About: I am an avid dog lover who will have your dog's safety as the number one priority. I have owned heelers, hound breeds, and pit bulls, throughout my life which has allowed me to gain valuable experience with high energy breeds. I have a lot of patience with dogs and welcome all, even if you’re still working on potty training, chewing, etc. I’m currently on a break from nursing since my most recent travel contract ended last month, meaning I’m available every day and will be able to give your baby the time and attention they need and you’d want them to have while you’re away. Bonus: My husband works at metro animal shelter and is amazing with all animals! My house has a huge fenced in backyard that allows for extended periods of safe supervised play and exercise. If you are wanting your baby to work on socialization skills, my husband and I will be happy to provide that with our two dogs as well. (No extra cost of course). “Ian did an amazing job watching Crew while we were away. Throughout every step of the process he was communicative and exceptionally prompt! He asked great questions about our dog's care before we left and reached out to us while watching him with updates and pictures. When we met in person, it was clear Ian and Crew got along great. Wonderful experience, we will use Ian again!”
About: What sets me apart from other sitters? I’ve mastered the art of negotiating with high-energy working breeds, outsmarting stubborn puppies, and serving as a certified head-scratcher for gentle seniors who just want to nap in peace. With plenty of foster and rescue experience under my belt, I speak fluent dog body language, respect the sacred mid-afternoon nap, and strictly enforce the "Cheese Tax" (within dietary guidelines, of course). Whether your pup needs strict medication routines, structured outlets for their relentless zoomies, or just a professional belly-rub technician while you’re away, I guarantee they’ll be living their absolute best life—and sending you endless photo updates to prove it! As a teacher, my days run on a structured, predictable routine that pets thrive on! Before school, your pup gets an early morning walk and breakfast; after the last bell rings, my full attention is theirs for afternoon adventures, play, and cozy evening snuggles. Being organized, patient, and used to managing full classrooms means your pet will get seamless, attentive care, clear boundaries, and a reliable schedule every single day. Whether in my home or yours, your pet gets the royal treatment—and a temporary promotion to favorite family member! In my home, they’ll enjoy structured play, designated couch-snagging spots, and endless affection. In your home, I keep their exact routine intact, following feeding schedules to the letter, sticking to their favorite walking paths, and making sure the house stays neat. Either way, expect strict safety, zero missed meals, and enough goofy photo updates to fill your camera roll while you're away!
“Toria has dropped-in for us on multiple occassions. She is always prompt with her communication and we can tell that Hank, our cat, is always pleased to see her!”

About: I have experience with pets and can groom walk and play with them. I am very good with pets I love them. I’m so excited! I am a college student and I am off school right now. I have plenty of time to help out anyone that needs it please I would take them out and also make them comfortable if they are staying overnight. Regular meals and fun walks. Also fun playtime with them
About: Hi! My name is Alex and I'm a lifelong animal lover! I’ve had dogs all my life but learned so much more when I started fostering in 2014. Over the years, I’ve raised four dogs of my own, fostered 8 dogs for three different rescue organizations in Kentucky and Ohio, and continue to volunteer with local rescues. Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I genuinely love getting to know each pet as an individual—whether they’re energetic puppies, mellow seniors, or anywhere in between. I work second shift during the week and occasional Saturday’s. This gives me time in the morning to work with the pups and get them nice and tired for an afternoon nap! Crate training is an important part of my philosophy with dogs and I try to make sure they’re comfortable and safe. Your pet will stay in a safe, loving home that has a fully fenced back yard for secure outdoor time. I also have spare rooms if your pup needs space and time away from others when in new environment is needed or if they do not do well with stairs. We have three friendly resident dogs: Auggie (12 years old Staffy mix) Sgetti (5 years old husky/shepard mix), and Fern (7 months old rough coat American hunt terrier). I carefully manage interactions to ensure everyone is comfortable and safe, and I will always prioritize your pet’s routine and needs. Whether your pet needs a day of activities, reliable walks, or a cozy and calm home-away-from-home, I’ve got you covered.
“First of all, I am not only a worried dog/cat mom; I am also a veterinarian. In other words, I am very picky with the care of my fur babies. I have used Miranda for my pet sitting needs before so I knew she was excellent. This time she also rose to the occasion. It was the Fourth of July. Even though she was only scheduled for drop by's, she stayed with my babies during the whole of firework hours on the 5th when she realized how scared they were on the 4th. She also cleaned up after they made a huge mess with litterbox; everything was spotless when I arrived home. I was able to communicate with her the whole time, easing my apprehensions about leaving them. I will definitely use her again and highly recommend her as a sitter for anyone looking for a responsible, caring, and communicative individual.”

“Absolutely amazing. I was nervous about having a "stranger" be able to come and go as they please while I was gone, but I felt perfectly at ease with Carla. She did a great job taking care of our cat and made sure to send plenty of pictures showing the cats happiness having her. Around while we were gone. Already booked again!”

About: I’ve worked in animal shelters for more than a decade! Experienced with difficult behaviors, including arousal, resource guarding, stranger issues, and more. I use positive reinforcement only. Let me know what treats your pup prefers (or any allergies, special diets) so I can come equipped. I have dogs, cats, and exotic pets of my own. I love animals have dedicated my life to their wellbeing. I’m a skilled handler, my own dogs all present their own challenges (especially on walks). Experienced in administering medications, including injectables. I run with my dogs and would love to run with a client’s dog who is up for it! I’m also up for hikes, long walks, or just a slow stroll for my senior dog friends. Cannot accept client where I will need to use a shock collar, sorry. I work from home and have a lot of flexibility to be home or check in on animals. I love to walk and be outside, so if you pets enjoy sunbathing while I'm on zoom calls, they'll love my set up! I have a fully-fenced half acre yard and friendly animals. For drop ins and services in your home, I will follow your instructions to a tee!

About: We’ve taken care of our own and other’s pets our entire lives — and we know most people want this kind of experience for their pets. Whether at our home or yours, they’ll be just like family to us. I have 5 years experience working and volunteering in animal shelters, making me a great fit for anyone wanting a sitter who knows what they’re doing and is willing to go above and beyond. I am a remote worker, so I’ll be with your pets all day long! Taking care of animals is my passion, so your furry family is my primary focus. Andrew is my husband, and will occasionally help me out! I work with old animals and young, calm animals and ones with their crazy pants on — so any challenge that is thrown, I will be able to handle. Pets are our children, and you can trust me with yours. I am also insured as a pet sitter, so you can have some additional peace of mind.
About: I’ve taken care of dogs for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was a child, I have always loved hanging out with animals of all kinds. I currently volunteer at the Humane Society. I especially love spending time with social puppies and doing anything you need me to do! I currently work at Comfy Cow part time and I spend time volunteering at the Kentucky Humane Society as well. I would love to come either before or after work, or help out on the days I don’t work and I’m available. I would love to come meet you and your dog before we schedule a professional time for me to let out your dog/walk your dog. This will make sure that we are a good fit together. Also, since I am young, my mom will come with me the first couple times to make sure everything is done properly and show that I am trustworthy.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
