“Bailie is the best. She did drop-ins for our dog for a week while we were on vacation. She kept us updated on how he was doing and sent pics everyday. He was a happy, healthy boy when we got back. I could tell he was well taken care of. Highly recommend her as a pet sitter.”

“Alicia was absolutely amazing! Professional, reliable, and truly caring. They kept us updated with messages and photos, which gave us great peace of mind. We came home to a happy, relaxed cat — the best sign of excellent care. Highly recommend and will definitely book again! 🐾”

“Mary has been an exceptional pet sitter for our dogs and cats. She’s incredibly kind and patient, always communicative, and consistently shares photo updates. Her attention to detail and flexibility with scheduling have truly impressed us. We couldn’t ask for anyone better—highly recommend her and deeply appreciate her dedication to caring for animals.”

“Janie is punctual and a great dog sitter. Gets along great with my dogs and can manage my more vocal and nervous German shepherd mix. Highly recommend Janie if you’re looking for a reliable sitter/walker.”

“We had a walkaround the house with Rochelle. Rochelle was attentive and took lots of pictures. You can tell that she takes the care of our pups and the house very seriously. After learning the house, Rochelle observed the correct food portions and fed the pups. She is so loving to the pups.”

“This was our first time using this service and we will definitely use again. Jessica was wonderful! She was very sweet and helpful! Loved getting the pictures and Rover card with updates! Thank you!!”

About: I have hands-on experience with dogs of all ages, from playful puppies to seniors who need a gentler pace. I’m comfortable with basic training, medication routines, and keeping pups on a consistent schedule. I’m patient, reliable, and treat every dog like my own. I pay attention to each dog’s personality and make sure they feel safe, happy, and understood—plus I always share photo updates so you can relax while you’re away. I just recently graduated from university, so my weekdays and weekends are mostly free! I am available to take care of your pets from Monday-Saturday. I care for pets in the comfort of their own home where they feel safest and most relaxed! Whether I’m staying overnight or stopping by for a few hours, I stick to your dog’s routine, keep their space clean and secure, and make sure they get plenty of attention and supervision. I’m reliable, respectful of your home, and always focused on creating a calm, safe environment for your pet.

“Randi went above and beyond to make sure our animals were taken care of. She even voluntarily took home a chick that could not walk and fixed it's leg so it can get around on its own now. She also watered our plants and brought in mail while we were gone. She seems to know a lot about dogs and is a wealth of info on chickens, as well. Some of my chickens were not doing so well and thanks to her advice, they are looking healthier. I'd highly recommend her.”

“Sophia is wonderful! She is so reliable and great with my two dogs. She has excellent communication and on multiple occasions has been more than willing to help me out when I’m in a pinch. I trust my dogs with her and would recommend her to anybody else looking for somebody to care for their dogs.”

“Lucas has taken care of my 2 cats several times in the last 4 months. I am so thankful for his services. He truly loves cats & dogs & does a great job caring for my cats. He hasn’t taken care of my dog yet as I take her with me when I go away, but I would trust him with her. You can’t go wrong with Lucas!”

About: Hi! I’m home for the summer and excited to spend time doing something I love, caring for animals. I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life, and I recently lost my own, which reminded me just how much animals mean to me. While I don’t have time for a full-time pet right now, I still stay involved by volunteering every week at a local animal shelter and helping care for the cat I live with at school. I also worked as a vet assistant for a year, so I’m experienced with pets of all ages and temperaments. Whether it’s dogs, cats, or anything in between, I’ll treat your pet with the same love and care I gave my own. I’m currently taking an online summer course with a very flexible schedule, so I’m available throughout the summer for pet sitting, dog walking, and drop-in visits. Since I’m not working right now, I have plenty of time to give your pet the attention and care they deserve. Whether it’s daily walks, playtime, or overnight stays, I’m happy to help however I can! In your home, I follow your pet’s routine closely, feeding, walks, playtime, and any special instructions, so they stay comfortable and happy while you’re away. I make sure they get plenty of attention and care!
“Victoria was available for our last minute booking! She did exactly what was in the care plan, communicated well and was super friendly! We will definitely book with her again!”

“This was our first time using Rover. Riley was helpful in explaining how it worked. She watched our cat for several visits for two days. For each visit she sent information on how the visit went. Unfortunately our kitty would run and hide after greeting her so she couldn’t get many pictures. She even went and found him and sat trying to convince him to come out! He ate well during her visits and she was kind to clean up the dirty cat bowls each time! It’s also very comforting knowing Riley has experience working in a vet clinic.”

“We love how much Virginia communicates with us about our complicated kitties. She brought in our mail/packages while we were away and kept our house tidy from cat-induced messes. Would definitely have her again!”

“Veronica was amazing! Very sweet and considerate given that we booked last minute for the holidays. She did everything we asked of her and I loved the great communication about how our kitties were doing!”

About: Hi there! My name is Sam and I have experience sitting for all types of animals. From cuddly Pyrenees, and scary-smart German pinschers, to spunky chinchillas, their best cat friends, and curious pythons. I have been through partial behavioral training for dogs (and their humans), and have experience with animal hospice situations, as well as behaviorally aggressive dogs. I prefer to keep the animal's care as consistent as possible. The more details you have of your preferred method of walking, reward, or preparation habits, the better. Trust and care are my number one goals when it comes to animal sitting. Not just with the four legged babies, but with the parents as well. I know how important it is to feel comfortable with your care provider, and what a treat it is to know that you can trust someone with the care of your loved ones. Also, aren't dogs just perfect? I work for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and am currently on telework, so my weekly availability is early morning, and late afternoon. I also volunteer at the Old Dominion Humaine Society and occasionally foster for them at my house. I have one <1 year old puppy, and I have a home with a large yard but no fence. That means all foster dogs get leash walked always and there are many mind teaser toys for rainy days. I feed in crates and make it a safe space for them to decompress.

- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
