“Thanks to Greg we were finally able to go away without our needy pets. We were able to relax because Greg did a great job of connecting with our pets and communicating with us. He followed all of our detailed instructions and cleaned up like he was never here. We hope to hire Greg again for more housesitting. His care is much appreciated.”

“Christina is wonderful to our pups. She is very friendly and did everything we asked. She is also very responsive and accommodating. Our pups and house is very well taken. Will use Christina in the future!”

“One of the most important things when our family goes away is making sure we have a caring, responsible sitter for our dog, Bucky. Alyssa is amazing! We can go away and be certain that Bucky will be loved and cared for! We highly recommend her!❤️”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter than Kathy! She took such great care of our dog, Rocky, visiting three times a day and keeping us updated with excellent communication. She even went above and beyond to handle some unexpected tummy issues with care and attention. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing Rocky was in such loving and capable hands. We highly recommend Kathy to anyone looking for a reliable and compassionate pet sitter!”

“SirJahad was a fantastic housesitter for my 5 month old puppy and cat. He sent plenty of pictures and detailed messages over the three days we were away. He followed our instructions and took our rambunctious dog on several walks daily.”

“Angela was the first person (other than family) we’ve had stay with our dog in 9 years. We were so anxious and she agreed to come do a meet and greet a few days before which made us feel so much better. She sent us frequent photos and updates. Our pup was a happy girl when we got home!”

“Aleksander was great with Charlie! He was attentive and provided feedback while we were away. Was respectful of our home and would not hesitate to book with Alek!! We will definitely be booking again!”

About: I have spent all of my life around animals, and have absolutely loved spending time with them since I was young. As a kid I volunteered at my local shelter, playing with the residents and doing what I could to help take care of them and keep them happy. I personally grew up with both cats and dogs. I was the family member responsible for training and teaching our dogs new commands. I would be more than happy to go on long walks or spend time playing with and keeping your pets company. I am currently a school teacher on break, so I have plenty of time to love on your fur baby! I am currently openly available, until the school year begins in September. Until then, I am generally available during the week from 8 am to 10 pm. I am more than happy to feed, walk, play with, and love your animals in your home. I have experience with administering insulin to cats as well.
About: I have taken care of dogs since 5 years ago helping friends and family when they needed help. I always had a connection with dogs and love to take care of them. I have a part-time job that gives me time to take care of pets weekdays and weekends mostly in the mornings. I can accommodate my schedule too. I make sure that all the necessities and schedules any dog has are completed before leaving, making sure the dog feels comfortable and safe are my top priorities.
“Kathryn was awesome and very professional. She kept me updated throughout the day and made me feel very much at ease. Katie took excellent care of my dog (Ruben). I would highly recommend Kathryn!”

“Brittany was great and I'd recommend her if you're in need of a reliable sitter. She was responsive, kept in touch, left my house very clean and even watered my plants! I would trust her to housesit for my older dog again and would definitely use her in the future.”
“Zahira was a great dog and housesitter! She was punctual, very communicative and sent plenty of photos and videos of our dog each day. Our pup was happy and healthy when we got home. We’ve already booked her to watch our dog again! Highly recommend, thanks so much!!”

About: Animals have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up with pets taught me responsibility, patience, and compassion, and caring for animals has always been something I enjoy. I have also cared for the pets of neighbors, friends, and family, making sure they were safe, happy, and well cared for. These experiences have strengthened my dependability and reinforced my passion for providing compassionate, reliable care. I work part-time during the day, and my schedule varies from week to week. I have open availability on Fridays and weekends and can often accommodate pet care requests during the week. I enjoy spending time with animals and make sure every pet receives attentive, reliable, and loving care. I know pets are happiest when they can stay in their own home, so I do my best to keep their routine consistent. I'll follow your care instructions carefully, including feeding, fresh water, walks, potty breaks, playtime, medication (if needed), and lots of love and attention. I'll also make sure your home stays clean, secure, and just as you left it. Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Barrington
Christina was excellent. She took great care of my dog Ruben. Christina provided feedback throughout the day with many pictures of Ruben playing and being well taken care of. Her professionalism and detail to Ruben's need throughout the day put my mind at ease. I highly recommend her services!

Gregory did a great job watching our two dogs. He was dependable, easy to work with, and has a calm energy that our dogs seemed to respond to really well. We felt confident leaving them in his care and would happily have him watch them again in the future.

Cassidy has been an absolutely wonderful sitter for our dog Lulu and cat Monkey. Lulu is weary of strangers, but through Cassidy's presence, patience, and caring, she won Lulu over quickly. Cassidy also did a great job keeping to Monkey's medication regiment. Through the daily feedback, pictures, and videos, we got both piece of mind and the evolution of our pets' trust at the same time. We are forever thankful for Cassidy watching our pets and home, and look forward to working with her again.

Sarah is great. I needed an in home sitter last minute and she was very accurate to that. My dog can be very anxious and shy around new people, but he warmed up to them very quickly during the meet and greet. Next time I need an in home pet sitter I will use Sarah again.

Caitlin, was amazing with my shy pup, Finn, and my cat, Murph! Finn is usually scared of his own shadow, but she was so patient and gentle that he warmed up quickly. I loved all the photo updates — it gave me such peace of mind seeing both of them happy and relaxed. So grateful to have found someone who cares for them the way I do! Highly recommend!

Alexis took fantastic care of our two dogs during her overnight stays!! We have one younger dog and one older dog who both have very different needs. She catered to each of their personalities, sent frequent updates, and cleaned up nicely after herself. I would definitely recommend her services and will likely book with her again!

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 5,429 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Barrington. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Barrington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Barrington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Barrington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
