About: Animals have been a huge part of my life since I was young—I love critters of all kinds and I am willing to learn how to care for any animal who needs a companion. Dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, rats, fish, you name it! I have owned pets of my own since I was about 10—fish, hamsters, cats, even ant colonies and pillbugs—and I began to petsit for neighbors as a teenager. I'm generally capable of regular house visits, keeping a punctual schedule, engaging in play & enrichment any way I can, bathing animals of any size, and adapting to the needs of any animal in my care. I am not able to consistently walk very high-energy dogs, but if you have an enclosed yard I'm more than happy to let your pet(s) get his or her energy out there. I'm great with low-energy animals who need a cuddle buddy or somebody to simply share a space with. I'm willing to do overnights, week+ long stays, and jobs with multiple pets. My schedule is very flexible to the needs of your pets, but I do have animals of my own to care for at home. I typically do not like to leave clients' pets alone for more than 4 hours at a time during the day, so you can expect regular visits within that time frame. I like to have lots of options for play & exercise with your pet. I don't take pets home, but I'm happy to supervise your pet in a fenced yard or a nearby park! I enjoy snuggles & handling small enclosure pets like rodents, and I'm willing to learn how to provide enrichment for any animal. I'm very strict about sticking to a feeding schedule, but I do like to give plenty of treats throughout the day if health allows. I try to keep clean as much as possible—bathing pets, regularly vacuuming/mopping, emptying litter, brushing fur and teeth, etc.

About: I've dog sat/walked for friends and family for many years. My family or friends gives me a ring whenever they need a pet sitter. I have dog sat for friends up to 2 weeks before. I make sure the dogs get the recommended amount of food that is instructed. I go on dog walks/runs in the evenings when the weather is cooler, so it protects their paws from the hot cement. I make sure they have plenty of water to drink, especially in the summertime. As of this moment in my life I am available to walk or take out your pet in the evening. Dog walks isn’t just good for the dog but it also good for a reset after a long day for me. I am very responsible with the pets I am taking care of. I make sure they get some sort of exercise. I make sure their meal time is in a timely scheduled manner. Not overfeeding nor under feeding the fur babies. If the dogs get too dirty playing in the yard. I'll give them a rinse. I'll put them in their crates if needed. I'll reward them with treats. They get to go outside a lot to do their business regularly.
“If you’re looking for someone who’s very reliable and trustworthy with pets, Melissa is your person! My husband and I have used to her a few times while we have been out of town to give our 16 year old kitty her daily blood pressure medicine. Not only is she friendly and responsive towards people as well as reliable. She’s patient and kind with pets. My 16 year old girl who’s normally shy around strangers was at first shy around Melissa but has since warmed up that when it isn’t med time, she will greet her and let Melissa pet her for a few seconds (as is her nature she isn’t a kitty that likes being touched in general unless it’s on her terms) Melissa has her own two pets which I think helps with knowing how to read animal body language but also helps animals eventually trust her. I honestly couldn’t ask for a better pet sitter for the things I’ve asked of Melissa while we are away, if you ask politely and remember she to is a person. She delivers exceptionally!! Would definitely recommend her, but would also use her for future dates if applicable with her schedule.”
