“Olivia was fantastic! So grateful she was available last minute when I had car troubles coming home from a trip. She was communicative and followed all instructions. Would definitely have her back!”

“Stephanie was an absolute perfect fit to house sit my dog. She got to know my dog and his personality and I could tell he was immediately comfortable with her but also way more comfortable when I got home, which meant everything. Definitely will be my go to sitter when she is available, Jameson loved her and I was also completely at ease while gone with updates and photos.”

“Adia did an amazing jog taking care of our dog and house. She is highly reliable and surpassed our expectations. She always showed up on time and went the extra mile. I had no worries while I was away. I would book again.”

“Claire was amazing! She sent pics throughout the day and kept in touch each day. I know my sweet girl was happy to be in her own home while we were away. I will definitely use Claire to sit again!”

About: I love animals and have cared for friends’ pets whenever they’ve needed a trusted dog sitter. I’ve also fostered dogs for Take Paws Rescue, from young puppies to senior dogs, which has given me experience with pets of all ages and personalities. I treat every animal with patience, love, and attention, the same way I would want someone to care for my own pets. I have recently started a new job but will have open availability on days off from that job. I will update my availability accordingly. The days that are available you can rest assured they will be dedicated to your pet. I currently have three rescue dogs of my own, a Doberman puppy, a two year old Doberman, and a small mixed breed. I’m very comfortable caring for dogs with different personalities, sizes, and energy levels. Because of my own pets, I prefer caring for animals in their own home where they can stay comfortable in a familiar environment and maintain their normal routine. I always treat every pet with patience, love, and care as if they were my own.
“Missy was excellent! Sbort notice for her to come to our hotel in the French quarter and sit with our foster puppy so we could still enjoy a preplanned date night. Much appreciated and she did a great job”

“Cheryl was absolutely amazing with Pearl and her cat brother Louis! She sent me pictures and updates, went above and beyond and took care of a lot of details that I hadn’t even considered. I felt completely comfortable having her in my house. She left it in great shape to and it was clear that the critters loved her. She even took Phroto to the dog park and let her play with her own for babies. She’s wonderful I can’t wait to use her again.”

“Gabrielle did a great job watching my 130lb 2 y/o ridgeback. She communicated well and carefully integrated him into the group of 4 well behaved dogs that she owns. I recommend using her as a Rover sitter.”

“Can't say enough about Karen; she was attentive and sent pictures to keep me aware of how my baby was doing. I usually travel with my dog, but that wasn't an option this time. I was hesitant, but all my fears vanished when I saw the first picture! I knew she was in good hands.”

About: My father raised and trained dogs so I have been caring for dogs since childhood. I have been personally caring for my own dogs as well as dogs of family and friends for the past seven years. I am medically trained for emergencies and can care for special needs and sick dogs. I will treat your pet with the love and kindness as I do my own. I can be available day and night, weekends and holidays even on short notice. I am hoping to make this a full-time position and will be available seven days a week 24 hours a day and can provide same-day service. I will follow all rules of the home in which I am sitting. I will never leave pets unattended. They will have my full attention and safety is my number one priority.
“Danielle was amazing with my babies. I got update texts everyday and tons of pictures. Such a blessing to have had her sit for them at our home in their own environment where they are most comfortable. Would recommend her 1000%. Thank you so much again!!!!”

“Outstanding!! Terri is very caring and accommodating. Gave love, care and comfort to our pup, just like we were there. Don’t hesitate to book her yourself, you will not regret it. Never doubt that she will treat your pet with the highest level of care, just like she did for us. Looking forward to using her in the future.”
About: I’ve had dogs my whole life and they’ve always been my favorite kind of company. I’m patient and keep things calm and low-key. I only watch one dog at a time, so you can rest assured that I will treat your dog as if they were my own. Since I work remotely, your dog won’t be left alone much and will get attention throughout the day. I make sure to follow whatever routine helps your dog feel most comfortable. Happy to send you photos and updates throughout the day as well. I’m flexible with pickup and drop off times. I will be with your pup all day, and they’ll get plenty of attention throughout the day. I’m happy to adapt to your pet’s routine. If they’re a high energy dog, they’ll get long walks. If they’re a senior or low energy, I’ll take them on shorter walks or just let them sniff in the yard.
About: I have 1 year of experience caring for dogs and enjoy making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I’m dependable, patient, and attentive to each pet’s needs, whether that means walks, playtime, feeding, or giving them plenty of affection. I understand that every dog has a unique personality, and I’m committed to providing reliable care while keeping owners updated and giving them peace of mind. My schedule is flexible, and I’m available most weekdays and weekends. I can provide morning, afternoon, and evening care depending on your pet’s needs. I’m committed to being reliable, punctual, and making sure your pet gets the attention and care they deserve. I treat every pet with patience, kindness, and respect. About: I’ve taken care of dogs/cats of all kinds for 6 years now. Neighbors, friends, and family have relied on me to walk, feed, and extend love to their pets. I enjoy meeting new pets and adapting to their needs. I work a full time job myself but adjust so I’ll have plenty of time to play with your pups! I know how important it is to show care and love to all pets any time of the day! I have a fenced yard and one dog that’s not even close to harmful. I also have two cats that live a life of their own and cause no bother to anyone. Anything that is requested can certainly be met.

FAQs for House Sitting - Almedia
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 745 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Almedia. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Almedia walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Almedia maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Almedia choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Almedia. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
