About: I have had cats and dogs and cared for them since I was old enough to, about 20 years. I have done a good amount of pet sitting and walking. I volunteered for a couple summers at my local veterinarian office. I get along very well with animals and they always like me. I love the outdoors and I love to walk around with dogs. I work in film in Northern NM and would love to do this as a job during slower months, such as the winters. I especially understand that work schedules can get in the way of you being with your beloved pets and the need for quality pet care. I often have a more open schedule than many to work around all your needs! I would love the opportunity to care for and spend time with your fur baby! I am currently on a hiatus from the film industry because of slowdowns, so I have more time than many to watch your fur babies! To care for pets in my home or other's homes I will feed them, play with them, brush them, cleanout litter box where applicable. Walk them if applicable.

About: I've taken care of neighbors' and friends' pets since I was 12 and I raised my own puppy at 17. I'm passionate about all dogs and look forward to working to assist you in your pet care needs. I will be taking online summer classes this summer from 8am-3pm M-F, but I will be available to take care of animals during my lunch break, after classes, and during weekends. I enjoy hiking and jogging and would love to take your dog along with me! I am a graduate student and work from home with a flexible schedule, so I have the capacity to walk your dog at various times throughout the day. I am also happy to set regular times for walks. When sitting for a dog in someone's home, I am very respectful of the family's home. I make sure that the dog gets regular exercise and potty breaks, and I ensure that spaces are kept clean.

I had never used Rover, and I was extremely leery after a licensed sitter I'd worked with for years broke into my home. My anxieties began to subside during my initial interactions with Melanie, who was consistently prompt, thoughtful, and transparent in her communication. Melanie confirmed her availability soon after I sent my request and her timeliness made it easy to schedule a get to know you phone chat and eventual key pickup. This responsiveness isn’t a given, especially during the busy holiday season, and it is as reassuring to me as a love cats and Covid vaccination status, which Melanie also made evident upfront. During the key pickup and cat meet and greet visit, Melanie asked great questions and took thorough notes. If there was anything she was unclear about afterward, she followed up directly with me rather than guessing, which shows how dedicated she is to doing a great job. Finally, there were several aspects of Melanie’s regular visits with my cat that made me feel at ease: - She stuck to the time we agreed upon throughout the 8 visits I booked; this helped me anticipate her updates while in a different time zone, and I’m sure the structure helped my skittish cat establish trust more easily. - Melanie continued asking occasional clarifying questions, which demonstrates her attentiveness and respect for her client’s preferences. - She also sent video updates that enabled me to see how my cat was behaving generally and how she was responding to Melanie’s presence (great in both regards, thankfully!). All in all, both my cat and I warmed up to Melanie in record time. I’m so happy to have found her, and would absolutely work with her again.”
