“Ellie was amazing! She is so knowledgable of dogs and loving toward them. She checked in regularly, sent us pictures of our dog everyday, and played and interacted with her. Our dog absolutely loved Ellie. It was really nice to know our pup was in good hands, and we will definitely be using Ellie again.”

“Delightful! Our cats are pretty shy so we weren't expecting much but Dayna was able to get pictures of them without a problem. She was very flexible and made us feel much better about being away from our pets for a week. Definitely at the top of our list for next time!”

“Kaylee demonstrated exceptional professionalism and dedication while working with our dogs, even though one of them is less social. Her communication was thorough, always reaching out to us with any questions or concerns instead of making assumptions. We were particularly impressed with her commitment and attention to detail during a difficult personal time. Her friendly demeanor throughout her assignment was also greatly appreciated.”

About: What sets me apart from other pet sitters is my genuine passion for providing a fun and nurturing experience for your pets. I love taking dogs on energizing walks in nature, ensuring they get the exercise they need. I enjoy playing fetch and sunbathing with them, and I’m attentive to their feeding, bathing, and medical needs. Additionally, as a professional massage therapist, I can offer your furry friend soothing neck massages to help them relax and feel pampered. Your pet’s well-being and happiness are my top priorities. I am currently working part-time as a substitute teacher, massage therapist, and do pelvic steaming consultations from home, so I have a flexible and open schedule to care for your pets. I will offer loving support and friendly care to your pets while you are away. I understand they may miss you so I will make sure to give them plenty of attention.

About: I’ve cared for my own dogs and cats for over 30 years and have also fostered kittens for the animal shelter that I later adopted. I am a substitute teacher during the regular school year and am otherwise a DoorDash driver. I would work my schedule around what you need. My cats stay indoors and my 2 dogs love hanging out on our front enclosed porch or lounging inside. They all get along quite well.

About: I have taken care of many family & friends dogs and cats (and other types of pets) over the years. I have never had an issue with even the unruly ones. I am able to gain an animals trust quickly and am intuitive on how to approach them & care for them. I have a special needs nephew that I am a Respite Careworker for, I help administer his medications and am confident I can administer meds to any animal as well. I have also been taking care of my disabled mom for the last few years and am a mother of 2 (new empty nester). I have a lot of patience and don't get upset with messes. Everything is washable in my opinion. Although I will keep your house as tidy as possible if I am House Sitting for you. I live in Santa Maria, but am available for pet/house sitting in any part of Santa Barbara or San Luis Counties depending on the day(s). I would consider traveling further on the weekends if I am able. I am a responsible & trustworthy person, who genuinely enjoys caring for others. I work from home on Mon & Fri, so I am only unavailable during the day on Tues/Wed/Thurs. I am able to care for animals in the morning before I leave for work and every evening. I recently lost my dog at the ripe old age of 17, I used to walk my dog every day, so I know all the good dog walking spots in the area. I love hiking as well, so if your dog is up for it, I am happy to take them hiking too. I work in conjunction with my partner who is home during the day, so if there is a need for more exercise, feedings or medication during the day, we can facilitate that. I enjoy the company of animals, so they would be included in everything I do, as much as possible. I used to take my dog everywhere with me. I prefer caring for pets in their own homes, only because they are more comfortable there. My place is not very big, so it depends on how much space they are used to. I can sit 2-3 dogs at a time if they are not too big. I have room for a crate, but not more than one. I do have a is fenced in yard with a locked gate.

About: I love all animals, but I have a special place in my heart for dogs. I have been petsitting and walking dogs for over 10 years. As well as on going three years experience working at a Veterinary Hospital. I believe that it is important to take each dog's individual personality and preferences into account when caring for them. I enjoy any kind of interaction I can get! I have a 10 year old Yorkie at home who loves to play fetch and goes wild with the word "walk". He provides me with lots of cuddling and laughs. My goal for every pet is to make them feel loved, cared, and appreciated for! I am currently working part time, so i'll have plenty of time playing with your pups! My hours are very flexible and I am easy to contact just shoot me a message. I am always aware of pets getting out so I make sure leashes are on and gates are closed before letting pets out of the house.

About: With over 20 years of experience caring for animals of all kinds (dogs, cats, birds, rodents, fish, and the occasional exotic animal) you can rest assured that your pets will be safe and loved while they are in my care. My experience with dogs ranges from large to small, all energy levels, untrained puppies and seniors requiring medications. About: In recent years, I have built a strong trustworthy reputation via more than 80 (yep, eighty) 5-star reviews on a leading house/pet care platform. Photos of some were in here, but the system removed them. Happy to share that information with you when we are in contact. Most sits span several weeks, with a 4-week minimum being easiest on the schedule. I do tend to book in advance. Because I have cared for senior pets (several being older than 15: both dogs and cats, some sight or hearing or limb-disabled), administered meds which also includes insulin shots, and managed various sizes and breeds, pet parents and high end homeowners appreciate this reliability and standard. In some cases, we have only Zoomed before a sit, and never met in-person. Due to great reciprocal communication, the results were wonderful. I offer experience both house & pet-sitting, and am a former (& future) homeowner. I’ve had all kinds of pets throughout my entire life. In adulthood, a Lhasa Apso was my co-pilot for 13 years, and I will have others. For now, I enjoy supporting and caring for yours. Let’s Zoom and take it from there. Looking forward. We will discuss this. Historically (for more than 20 years), I have been able to work from anywhere. We can talk through the options together. Unless you hire me for an overnight sit, I will be coming to them for drop-in or other care. I will not be bringing your pet(s) to my location.

About: I grew up taking care of animals since the age of 12. Whenever family, friends, or neighbors needed someone to take care of their furry bestie; I gave them the a blast! I enjoy taking them on long walks/hikes, teach them tricks or polite manners, play with their favorite toy, and last but not least putting them to sleep by singing to them if they need snuggle time. Back to the present, I just graduated UCSC with a bachelor’s in Economics and I have a lot of availability. Taking care of someone's loving best friend would be an honored to spend my time for. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Love, Natalie N💜 I am very flexible since I just graduated UCSC and have a lot of time on my hands to use. And I would love to spend more time with animals.❤️ I am able to go to anyones home to take care of their dog if their owner is working or out of town. I am unable to bring them to my home that I share with others, due to no cats or dogs allowed. However, I don’t want that limitation to keep me away from my furry friends☺️ Im available every day of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I really want to make time for our furry friends☺️ I play with them and get them tired enough for them go feel relaxed and safe. I also take them on long walks and feed them:)

FAQs for Pet Sitting - Acorn

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost of Pet Sitting in Acorn is $20 per visit as of November 2026. Most bookings cost between $17 and $21 per visit. On Rover, sitters set their own rates based on factors such as their experience, the length of care, the number of pets, and your pet’s specific needs. As long as your booking dates and pet profiles are accurate, the price shown before you confirm is the total, including any booking fee.

As of November 2026, there are 315 sitters on Rover offering Pet Sitting across Acorn. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Acorn. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 92% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
