“The first time I met Melissa, I knew our fox terrier, Hershey ♥️ would be in good hands. Melissa is kind, caring, responsible and sends daily pictures with updates. She has a beautiful fenced in yard. I highly recommend Melissa♥️”

“Taylor and her family did an outstanding job taking care of my dog Bailey. I loved that she continuously sent me pictures of my dog at his very special moments. Taylor was also very flexible and accommodated Bailey’s special diet. I will definitely leave Bailey with Taylor next time I’m out of Town.”

“Tanya was very quick to respond to our request for a stay and made everything very easy to transact. She did a great job welcoming our dog into her home and sending us pictures throughout the day.”

“Our little coton de tulear puppy was staying away from home for the first time for 4 nights, but Alexandra welcomed him into her family. He apparently enjoyed her young son, and he was a happy camper when we picked him up. We got stuck in LA and were a few hours late, but she was very accommodating too.”

“We have an 12 year old, high energy dog who struggles with anxiety and can be pretty vocal, so after recently moving, we were nervous about boarding him or finding a new Rover sitter. Megan immediately put us at ease and didn’t bat an eye at any of his quirks. Her whole family was so sweet with him and did a wonderful job helping him feel calm and comfortable. She also sent photos every day, which we really appreciated. We’re so grateful we found Megan and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, patient sitter!”

“Blue always loves her time with destiny and gill and we love the daily picture updates! Blue always comes home so happy and tuckered out, you can tell she had fun and got lots of love while we were away!”

“I left my 2 year old lab Belle with Julie and Chris so we could go on our family vacation for one week. At the meet and greet Julie asked all the necessary questions on how to take care of Belle. Belle and Parma were instant friends at the meet and greet! I feel lucky to have found such nice people to take care of Belle in our neighborhood. I received daily updates on Belle pictures and videos. I highly recommend Julie and Chris they are true dog people!!!”

About: I am a senior lady who lost her 14 year old pup at Christmas and would enjoy looking after your home and your fur babies while you travel! I have rescued, adopted and trained several mixed breed dogs over the years and have had purebred, poodles and other small dogs after having larger dogs in my youth. One of my dogs was deaf, and other ones ran on the Beach so hand signals were a must. I’m retired and live in Beaufort SC but I can travel to you. Your home and your fur babies will be well cared for according to your specific needs. I have owned homes my entire life so I know how to take care of things. I have also cared for homes with Pools, spas and hot tubs. I enjoy walking at least once a day and playing with the pets but also understand that all animals have different needs and personalities. Some like to roam their yard while others enjoy the feeling of security from a crate or just like to be on a chair or a lap. I read, knit and have a quiet home.

“Emily and her mother Mary were great with our dog. This is the first time we had left him with people he did not know and he seemed very calm and happy when we picked him up. He had even made friends with their dog who usually just ignores visiting dogs.”

About: My husband and I love caring for pets and are excited to offer your fur babies a loving home while you’re away! I work a hybrid schedule, so I’m home often and have the most availability on weekends. My husband will also help care for your pets when his schedule allows. We don’t have a dog of our own right now because our changing work schedules wouldn’t allow us to give one the time and attention they deserve. Rover gives us the opportunity to spend time with pets while making sure they receive plenty of walks, potty breaks, playtime, and cuddles! We’ll treat your pets like our own and send plenty of photo and text updates so you can feel comfortable while you’re away. We look forward to meeting you and your furry family! I work Monday through Friday from 9 AM–5 PM, but I am able to provide pet care before work, after work, and throughout the weekends. I am available for morning walks before 8:30 AM, evening walks or drop-in visits anytime after 5 PM, and have full weekend availability for walks, visits, and boarding. I love animals and enjoy making sure every pet receives the attention, exercise, and care they need. I am happy to work around your pet’s routine and will do my best to provide reliable, loving care that gives you peace of mind while you’re away. I treat every pet and home with the same care and respect I would want for my own. I focus on creating a safe, comfortable, and stress-free environment. I’m attentive, responsible, and always prioritize your pet’s safety, happiness, and well-being.
“Martina did an AMAZING job looking after our dog, Wendy. She was incredibly informative, always keeping us updated with Wendy’s activities and well-being. We could tell Wendy felt right at home and incredibly comfortable, reassuring us that she was in the best hands possible with Martina. Her kindness and genuine care were evident in every interaction we had with her. She is truly a dog lover and made sure Wendy felt right at home! We knew Wendy was not only in safe hands, but also in the company of someone who truly cares. We’re so grateful for Martina and will definitely be rebooking with her again!”

About: I love animals and want to take care of them and make you feel at ease when leaving your beloved pets! My dog is friendly and would love to play but if you are not ok with that it is ok too. I work full time but I am free on the weekends to help with your pets! I can also help nights. The mornings are hard unless they stay at my house. I have a fenced in yard and a dog that loves to play with others if you are ok with that. My cat is friendly and keeps to himself.
About: Dogs have always held a special place in my heart. From the pups I grew up with to my soul dog Lacey, who has inspired this Rover journey. They are the purest creatures on this earth and taking the time to connect with each and every one that comes way, brings me so much happiness 🐾🤍 Life can be unpredictable so I’m here to make things a little easier! Whether it’s a spontaneous weekend trip or a daily walk, I’ve got you (and your best friend) covered ✔️ I am a proud & protective dog mama myself — when your pup is with me, you can trust they will be cared for as my own. I know just how important it is to feel confident when leaving a member of the family in someone else’s hands and I take that responsibility to heart 🫶🏼
Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Academy Estates
We had such a great experience with our dog sitter Destiny! She and her fiancé took wonderful care of Finbar over two nights, and it really gave us peace of mind while we were away. From the start, communication was clear and consistent, and we really appreciated the photos—they made it obvious Finbar was happy and comfortable. It’s clear they genuinely care about the dogs they watch. Finbar came home relaxed, well cared for, and clearly enjoyed his time. We would absolutely trust them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, attentive, and kind dog sitter.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Academy Estates home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Academy Estates.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Academy Estates sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in SC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
