“Lillian did an excellent job caring for Duke and a couple unexpected things around the house. She was prompt courteous and attendant to Duke and the house. I will not hesitate in calling upon her services again in the future. Thank you Lillian you made my trip north more relaxing and enjoyable.”

“Chloe was so wonderful. During the meet & greet she did great with our dog and cat (even though our cat was not the most social during it) and she was very attentive and took notes throughout. She was fantastic during the stay, she arrived right on time and was sending frequent updates and photos/videos to make you feel like you never even left! She communicated very clearly and it's obvious how much she pays attention to details and really makes the effort to know and love your animals.”

About: I've had a few positive interactions with dogs, and as far as I can tell, I've gained some experience with pet care. And will continue to provide that. I wish to broaden my learning palette while working part-time. In order to provide your dog with the most experience possible, I would like to learn more about dogs. I've cared for a couple pets and made them feel at home while they were with me. I promise not to disappoint, but rather to impress how your dog feels.
About: I’ve grown up with pets my whole life and have over 20 years of experience caring for dogs and cats. Friends and family have trusted me for walks, feeding, playtime, and snuggles. As a college student with a flexible schedule, I’m dependable, patient, and love giving every pet the same care I give my own. I’m a full-time student with open blocks throughout the day and weekends free, making it easy for me to fit in walks, feedings, and quality time with your pets. I care for pets in their own homes so they feel safe and loved. I stick to their usual routines, give lots of playtime and cuddles, and make sure they’re happy while you’re away.

“Michaelle checked in with me prior to the stay, arrived promptly and was gracious when we arrived home a little late. She took care of our dog's meal and medicine and sent a few updates and photos during the stay. I felt very comfortable with her and we'll definitely book with her again!”
“Here’s a draft for your review: Hannah is an exceptional pet sitter! Our dog usually takes a while to warm up to new people, but Hannah’s calm and patient demeanor quickly put her at ease. She went above and beyond by providing regular updates, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. On top of taking great care of our pup, she also helped with our plants, which was a huge bonus. We’ve already booked her for our next trip and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and professional pet sitter. Thank you, Hannah!”

About: Ived taken care and loved many dogs growing up I’m very experienced with dogs of any age, family and friends have replied on me to sit for their pets while away on trips At the moment I’m home all day morning and afternoon, once I’m back at work I will be mostly available afternoons and weekends but willing to make schedule changes I live in an apartment with a small fenced patio but will mostly be taking your fur baby out for walks and potty breaks, I currently do not have any other dogs or cats.
“Tyler could not have been a more respectful home and dog sitter. Wilma was in the very best hands and he won her over immediately! She is a very large dog and he had no hesitations at all including giving her meds twice a day which is no easy feat. I can't recommend him enough - he's a six in rating! Becky H.”

“Hernan took excellent care of Bailey, our golden retriever. Hernan was an excellent communicator. He provided updates and photos, walked and played ball with Bailey. He stayed at our home and was an excellent and tidy guest. We would definitely use Hernan again!”

About: I treat my pets very well. I will treat yours just as well. From babies to seniors, all breeds and all types of dogs and cats. I am an active retiree who enjoys volunteering for Meals on Wheels twice a month and Woodland's Community Care Car once a month. There may be days I am busy for half a day, but it wouldn't interfere with overnight and drop in care. I prefer to care for the client's animals in their own home. I believe the pet is more secure and less anxious when in their own home. I can stay overnight, taking the pet outside or, depending on the pet type, to the dog park. I can also walk the pet, even if its a trained cat! I will also water plants, bring in the mail, put out refuse cans, pick up poop, clean litter boxes, etc.
About: I have had pets my whole life and taken care of other people’s pets since I was a kid. My favorite thing to do was hang out in the pet store. I probably drove them nuts. I am home all day and would love to make a job out of caring for your pets. My availability is open at this time. I have a fenced yard, Pets are free to go in and out during the day and evening, I prefer to crate at night time, but it’s not a hard no for them to sleep out.
“Audrey was incredibly communicative in specialized instructions for my anxious dog! She was very caring of all the pets, and I would absolutely recommend her for any pet sitting services.”

Since the start of the pandemic I started to take on more long term sitting seriously. my family has relied on me for pet sitting since I can remember and my friends know they can count on me. I take joy in providing care and affection for animals. I’m a homebody and taking care of your fur baby fits perfectly with my lifestyle. About: I've grown up with all sorts of pets for as long as I can remember. Dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, fish. I have two cats of my own right now (two very spoiled babies). I'm typically free in the evenings Monday through Thursday and completely free on the weekends. But if needed for an emergency I can work from home Monday through Thursday to be there for your pet. I care for pets in the same way that I care for myself, with the upmost care. Dogs get walked at least twice a day, and plenty of love. Cats also get the same, and I have plenty of toys for both cats and dogs.

FAQs for House Sitting - Yolo
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 2,570 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Yolo. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Yolo walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Yolo maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Yolo choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Yolo. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 93% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
