For a first time Rover user, Kira was everything we were looking for to care for our dogs while out of town for a few days. She was respectful, called with any questions, and even sent pictures and updates everyday! I know our two sweet pups enjoyed her with them! We will definitely be using her again! (:

About: I love showing affection and learning new things and also being able to teach your dog new things. I’ve always been around dogs as a little girl and you understood that dogs have feelings needs just as much as humans do. I make sure I provide dogs with as much care as possible. I like taking walks, runs, and playing.. I’m usually available person.. I would want a bond with your dog and be able to be there for your animal anytime you’re not available to.. I will nurture your dog make them feel safe and be able to trust me.. I don’t have much of a special kills as far as teaching your dog how to do tricks lol but I can at least try. I’m currently a college student with a very flexible schedule. I have schooling on weekends but I’m pretty much available anytime during the week days I will make sure when I care for your pets at your home, their safety is first and I will be very attentive to your pet

About: My experience started when I was younger and raised 14 cats. I also cared for two large Rhodesian Ridgebacks and trained them from 8 weeks old. I currently have a golden retriever (10 yo) and two pit bulls (5 yo and 13 yo). I am an avid dog lover and very intuitive and attentive to individual dog needs. I currently work part-time as a clinical research consultant and work from home. I enjoy spending time outdoors as much as possible and having a furry companion with me is a plus! I am a very organized, clean and considerate individual that will respect your home even more than I do mine. I believe in the Marie Kondo method and structure my life and space accordingly. I will follow whatever routine the pets are used to and give lots of snuggles and attention.

I was skeptical to use Rover, but I had to make last-minute travel plans and my regular pet sitter was unavailable so I decided to give it a try. I was also afraid that nobody was going to want to take care of my eight dogs (mostly senior and special needs) and one cat. I contacted Amber and described all of my pets and their special needs, and she was up for the challenge. She even shared pictures and stories of her own babies to make me feel more at ease. Leaving six dogs over the age of 12, two special needs Frenchies (one deaf and one paralyzed), and one 17-year-old cat in the care of a stranger was very difficult for me to do. Upon meeting Amber, however, I was quickly put at ease. My animals immediately took to her and I could tell she was a kind, calm, gentle soul, which made leaving them easier. Amber handled all of my babies with extreme care and even read and followed my many, many pages of instructions. When she had questions, she texted or called me just like I asked. She took on the challenge of my paralyzed Frenchie like a pro - and it's not an easy job. She had to express her bladder every several hours, change her diaper, give her baths, carry her around, and give her lots of snuggles! She administered medications to my animals and gave them the various types of different food they eat. I came home to a happy, healthy crew of animals - and a new friend! I'm so happy I chose Amber and that she "chose" us. I highly recommend her and would definitely use her again!

About: I love being active and outdoors, dogs always have a special place in my heart. I am currently a veterinarian assistant and have been working with animals for over 7 years through the military. I have been trained on: first aid, grooming, hygiene, and care for all animals. Working with dogs of all sizes helps me better my skills so I can someday be a vetanarian and open my own hospital. I strongly believe that dogs are men best friend and should be treated with the best care and love. Running around with young and energetic dogs or walking and relaxing with older and relaxed dogs I love them both. And I look forward to having this great opertonity and experience with your dog. I work relief for a vet hospital but my availability is very flexible. I am able to take your pet out twice a day if needed. I have a fenced in back yard and a nice neighborhood where we are able to run and walk with our dogs. So there is plenty of space to play and relax.

About: With over 14 years of hands-on experience, I provide calm, patient, and highly attentive care tailored to each pet’s unique personality and needs. I’m naturally observant and tuned into behavior and energy levels, so your pet isn’t just watched—they’re genuinely understood, loved, and cared for. I’m also very active and love bringing that into my pet care. I enjoy running, long walks, and spending time outdoors, and I especially love being active with pets. High-energy dogs get real exercise and engagement—not just a quick walk—and I’m more than happy to match their pace (I can usually tire out even the most energetic pets in a positive, healthy way). At the same time, I’m reliable, detail-oriented, and respectful of your pet’s routine. Whether your pet needs structure and activity or a calm, reassuring presence, I adjust my care to meet them where they are—especially for pets who may be anxious or need extra attention. I’m very present, communicative, and committed to making sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for—so you can feel completely at ease while you’re away. When your pet is in my care, they’ll receive consistent, attentive care that fits naturally into my daily routine—because I intentionally make pet care a priority. I work full-time Monday–Friday from 9–5, but I structure my schedule to ensure your pet’s needs are fully met before and after work. Mornings include feeding, walks, and quality time to start the day off right. After work, I dedicate my time to longer walks, exercise, play, and engagement so your pet gets the attention and activity they need. For high-energy pets, I incorporate active time like long walks or outdoor exercise to make sure they’re not just “checked on,” but genuinely stimulated and cared for. For pets that prefer a calmer pace, I provide a relaxed, comforting environment with plenty of attention and reassurance. On weekends, my schedule is much more flexible, allowing for extended time, outings, and a more customized routine based on your pet’s needs. You can expect consistent communication, updates, and photos throughout the stay. I’m reliable, structured, and committed to following your pet’s routine as closely as possible—so they feel comfortable, and you feel confident knowing they’re in good hands. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and routine are always my top priorities—especially when caring for them in your home. I understand that inviting someone into your space requires a high level of trust, and I treat both your pet and your home with the utmost respect and care. I currently offer house sitting, drop-in visits, and dog walking. At this time, I’m unable to provide care in my own home, which means all of my attention is focused on maintaining your pet’s normal environment and routine where they feel most comfortable. When I’m in your home, I follow all instructions closely—from feeding schedules and walk routines to medications and any specific preferences your pet may have. I’m very mindful of safety at all times, including secure leashing, monitoring behavior, and ensuring your pet is always in a safe, controlled environment. I also prioritize keeping your home clean, organized, and exactly as you left it. You can expect regular updates, clear communication, and someone who is both dependable and respectful of your space. My goal is to create a stress-free experience—for both you and your pet—by providing consistent, trustworthy care in a familiar and comfortable environment.

About: As a lifelong animal lover, I understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and needs. I currently care for my energetic 2-year-old dog, Aspen, previously raised a family dog from puppyhood through their senior years, and fostered to own two cats. I’m comfortable caring for both young, high-energy dogs and older dogs who need a slower pace and extra attention. Whether your pet enjoys long walks, playtime, sticking to a familiar routine, or simply relaxing with company, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away. My goal is to give you peace of mind, knowing your pet is in reliable and caring hands. Pet care is already a big part of my everyday routine. I’m currently on paternity leave until the fall, so I have open availability and a flexible schedule to provide reliable care throughout the day. Whether it’s morning walks, feeding, playtime, potty breaks, or simply spending quality time with your pet, I’m able to give them the attention they deserve instead of rushing through visits. I enjoy being active with pets and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their owners are away. I care for every pet as if they were part of my own family. At home, my 2-year-old dog, Aspen, has a structured routine that includes daily walks, plenty of playtime, mental enrichment, and lots of affection. I pay close attention to her health and well-being by preparing nutritious homemade meals with quality ingredients, providing healthy treats, keeping her clean with oatmeal baths, and making sure she has safe, durable toys to keep her engaged. When caring for a client’s pet, I know every dog has different needs and routines, so I make it a priority to follow your instructions closely. Whether that means sticking to a feeding schedule, administering medication if needed, going on walks, playing fetch, providing companionship, or simply giving extra cuddles and reassurance, I’ll make sure your pet feels comfortable, loved, and well cared for while you’re away. My goal is to provide the same level of care and attention that I would want for my own dog.

Alexis was fantastic! Never once did I have to wonder how my baby was doing because she kept me up to date the entire time. She sends plenty of pictures and videos.....that warmed my heart. And, she knew how Jersey loves to go for rides, so Alexis didn't hesitate to let Jersey tag along....even to get a pup cup! Lol I can't wait to book with Alexis again. FAQs for House Sitting - Woodland Acres

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of August 2026, there are 2,851 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Woodland Acres. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Woodland Acres walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Woodland Acres maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Woodland Acres choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Woodland Acres. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
