“Sherry is amazing!! By fur baby enjoyed Sherry catering for him. I was very satisfied. She acceptes the job a day before my unscheduled trip. I appreciated that. I recommend Sherry to everyone.. Thank you Sherry!”

“Great experience with Darayell dropping in to care for my 2 dogs in my home for a week. She kept them to a regular schedule and exercised and played with them during the scheduled times. She was excellent with communication, even when I could not respond due to lack of reliable service at my vacation destination. I would definitely hire her again and refer her out. She will likely see my gos again a couple times within the next few months. They definitely seemed to love the time that she was with them.”

“If we could give Sarah a 10-star, we would!! She is incredible, sweet, thoughtful, reliable, and very good at communicating with us what’s going on with our puppy! We were hesitant at first having a complete stranger coming to our house, taking care of our puppy. However, after meeting Sarah and especially after the first day, we feel completely relieved that we found a great “daycare teacher” for our “baby”! So thankful to find her on Rover! We love you Sarah! ❤️❤️❤️”
“I can’t tell you how much peace of mind we had on our trip knowing that Fynn was taking care of our girls. She kept us up to date with how they were doing and we knew they were in good hands. We definitely recommend her!”

“Denise is awesome and we will definitely use her services again in the future, if she chooses to accept the challenge ??. Unfortunately we had a couple pups that wanted to give Denise the "substitute teacher " routine but Denise stood her ground, was very thorough in taking care and updating us through the stay. Thanks Denise!”

“Great job with interacting with my Mia. Joshua was easy to contact, professional and accommodating with my requests. I will definitely use Joshua again. Thank you for your services.”

“Mary went over and above on her visits with Roxy and Little Roxy. She came morning and night for most of the week on days we arranged. She sent pics of the animals so my daughters would know the dogs were all good. She played ball with the dogs and Roxy even got to swim while Mary was with her. She went as far as throwing some grain into the pasture trough for use. Thanks so much Mary. We will be calling on the next trip. You can't go wrong with Mary!”

About: I have 8 years worth of experience working as a kennel attendant at a Veterinary Hospital where I did everything from feeding, walking, and having playtime with pets to bathing, administering meds, and creating detailed report cards with pictures for owners. I was raised by a veterinary technician, and have had both cats and dogs throughout my life. I have also volunteered at rescue shelters, and I am the go-to sitter for my friends and family! I am so excited about meeting your fur baby, and glad to help out in any way that I can! I am currently working from home, and I am a freelance musician, artist, and photographer. So, I make my own hours. I am fexlible, and would love to talk about your schedule (: I usually sit down and have a conversation where we discuss what routine would be the best for you and your pet. I take detailed notes, and do a meet and greet to make sure I am a good fit for your pet, and to make sure they are comfortable around me. I will do my absolute best to accommodate all of your needs, and treat your baby like my own! 🐾
“Tavia was a wonderful sitter for my fur babies! She was professional, punctual, and kept me updated throughout the entire time I was away, which gave me great peace of mind. She went above and beyond—even taking the time to clean up after the dogs in the yard while she was caring for them. What really stood out to me was how quickly my oldest girl, Wynter, warmed up to her. Wynter is VERY leery of new people and usually takes her time getting comfortable, but she warmed right up to Tavia and even gave her a handshake, which is basically Wynter’s way of letting me know, “She’s good people!” 😂🐾 I came home to happy pups and everything well taken care of. I would absolutely recommend Tavia to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and trustworthy sitter, and I will definitely use her again. Five stars!”

About: I’ve taken care of multiple different dogs, and cats at once. I’ve worked with elderly dogs and dogs who have needed medication as well. I'm available throughout the week so your fur baby will get lots of attention. I’m also available most weekends to pet sit as well! I have a big open yard perfect for your baby to run around in. I have one dog and four cats that are super friendly to everyone.
“Katlyn took excellent care of both of our cat and dog. They are both weary of new people and she went out of her way to open them up and constantly care for them. Would absolutely recommend!”

“Marilyn is such a wonderful pet sitter! She took amazing care of my cat, and i could tell my cat was genuinely excited to see her. This means a lot coming from an extremely shy timid cat! Not only did she feed and handle the litter for my cat, but she also spent time interacting with her during each visit which my cat appreciated. We feel assured that our cat is in great care whenever Marilyn takes care of her.”

“Ashlee always takes such amazing care of my kitties! She helps ease my worries while I’m out of town and cares for my pets like they’re her own. 🥹❤️ Thank you Ashlee for all you do!”

“Yamile was fantastic!!!! She was very thorough with my instructions. She took time to play with my fur baby and interact with him. I will definitely be using her again. She was awesome!!!”

“Darian demonstrated professionalism by arriving as scheduled, ensuring my dogs were properly cared for, and providing peace of mind that they were in good hands. The care, patience, and kindness shown during each visit were greatly appreciated. What impressed me even more was the extra level of thoughtfulness-Darian took the time to secure my Amazon packages, which went above and beyond what was expected.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Whitehouse
Sherry is wonderful. I can't say enough good things about her care of our cats while we were out of town. Sherry is trustworthy, dependable, caring and so loving with our cats. She stayed in regular contact with us, updates and pictures. We would not want to use anyone other than her for our pet sitting going forward!

He was absolutely amazing. He was very attentive and made sure my dogs were well cared for the entire time. There were no problems at all, and I felt completely comfortable trusting him with my pets. This was my first time using Rover, and the experience could not have been better. He kept me updated, followed instructions perfectly, and clearly cares about animals. I would absolutely trust him with my dogs again and will be booking with him as much as possible. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for reliable and caring pet care.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
