“This was our first time leaving the pups for any length of time and Sarah was great at alleviating our anxieties. All 4 dogs love her (which is saying a lot, because 2 of them hate everyone)! Sarah went above and beyond to make sure everything was in order for our return and kept us updated with pictures and videos. Definitely using her again!!”

“Josh has been absolutely amazing in sitting for Lollie. She is generally bot a huge fan of men, but she just adores Josh!! He has visited a couple of times while we are there and Lollie is over the moon for him - she wags her tail so hard I think she might throw her hip out - lol. I would recommend Josh to anyone who needs a pet sitter - he loves Lollie and she loves him back - we are grateful to have him.”

“Jannah was the absolute best. Kind, honest and caring. Above and beyond communicator. Felt very comfortable with her watching my pup and will trust her again in the future.”

“Scarlett was amazing with our dogs! She always went above and beyond! We actually could relax on our vacation knowing she was watching our fur babies. She was always on time and her report cards were thorough, always letting us know what was going on. We would definitely have her watch our dogs again, she has been the best dog sitter we have ever had!”

“Ashlee made my first time using rover comfortable. I was on edge about it but she definitely put me at ease. Marley enjoys his drop ins from Ashlee 😊 I am very appreciative of her and will continue to use her services.”

“Sherry is amazing!! By fur baby enjoyed Sherry catering for him. I was very satisfied. She acceptes the job a day before my unscheduled trip. I appreciated that. I recommend Sherry to everyone.. Thank you Sherry!”

“Hand an EMERGENCY I was out all day and didn’t think I’d get stuck out so long one of my furbabies was in her cage and she answered me immediately and swung by to let her out for me in such short notice there within minutes to rescue my husky out her cage let her outside even hung out a little with her and the furbabies .”

“Heather did such a great job with our kitten! We had to book a last minute drop in visit and Heather went above and beyond! She made sure our kitten was fed, had a clean litter box, got playtime, and some cuddles. She even tried to fix our front porch planters that had been knock over by the storms! We will definitely be booking again!”

“She did a wonderful job with Ruby. She was very kind and passionate towards Ruby our family. Our dog really enjoyed spending time with her. Will definitely rebook her and recommend her to anyone. She will take good care of her little one”

“Darian demonstrated professionalism by arriving as scheduled, ensuring my dogs were properly cared for, and providing peace of mind that they were in good hands. The care, patience, and kindness shown during each visit were greatly appreciated. What impressed me even more was the extra level of thoughtfulness-Darian took the time to secure my Amazon packages, which went above and beyond what was expected.”

About: I am an RN that has been caring for pets since I was young. I am ready to welcome more love into my home. I have experience work in a pet hospital for 3 years. I am a remote worker so I am home most of the time and will continue to watch over you fur animal as if it’s my own. My kids are great with pets and excited to welcome more love into our home. Although my yard is not fenced there is no one who lives behind me so they have plenty of room to exercise, potty, and play.
“Ms. Amanda was a sigh of relief for us when going on vacation after a recent move away from our trusted sitter of 10 years. Even though our Bklu Boy wanted to be a little temperamental she was patient and calm with him. Thanks Rover for the amazing connection with her and allowing us to truly relax on vacation.”

“I can’t tell you how much peace of mind we had on our trip knowing that Fynn was taking care of our girls. She kept us up to date with how they were doing and we knew they were in good hands. We definitely recommend her!”

About: Growing up, my family always had animals around. I have five brothers and sisters and we all had pets, from dogs to cows to fish. Now as an adult, I would love to care for your pets for you. I’m not afraid of loud, messy, big dogs but I can be very gentle with shy, sweet kitties and puppies. I’m patient and I have done lots of research on how a dog’s brain works. I can’t wait to take your pet on an adventure or maybe just a leisurely stroll! I’m a stay-at-home-wife so I have lots of free time to dedicate to your furry friend. I try to keep Sundays low-key but the rest of my week is wide-open! I have a sweet small dog and a silly cat who loves dogs but can easily defend herself and hide. I have a big backyard for your pets to play in, but don’t worry, I will never leave them unsupervised.
About: I've always been a lover of all animals especially fur babies. They hold a special place in my heart ever since I was younger,volunteering every chance I get at the local shelters while growing up and also into adulthood, donating, fundraising, cleaning up wherever I was needed afterschool before heading home for the day.That's when I vowed to have all my pets as rescues. And encouraged my family and friends to do the same,and they did without hesitation because they know the good it did for the shelters ,plus I feel like rescue pets are the sweetest if i do say so myself. I'm hoping to have an opportunity to care for your furbabies also,and treat them as my own. Thank you for your time. Semper Fi! I currently work from home so my time is very flexible to have more time with your fur baby! I have extra hands to help in being a rover team member to help with the sweet fur babies out there. I have a lot of yard space even though it’s not fenced , there’s a lot of outside to explore. I have 2 fur baby’s to keep company also. A sr dog and a new adopted pup!
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Blacksville
Sarah took care of our two (very different) cats for 5 drop-in days. She spent quality time with each of them and made sure they were fed according to their normal schedules. She even took care of our long hair cat’s matting issue and he feels so much better now! We’d love to have her back! She is a natural with what she does.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
