“Karen is wonderful, I’ve had her look after my cat 3 times now. When I’m looking for a sitter I don’t hesitate but reach out to Karen as my cat also loves her! I trust Karen, both her and her husband are really nice people and I will be having my cat board at their house again:))”

“What can I say, Miss Candice loves what she does. And it shows, It’s like home away from for my fur baby who all but jumps out the car window when we pull up for his stay. Thank goodness my window was up. Total opposite when pull up to the groomer.”

“The sweetest people! They agreed to take my puppy less than a week before my trip(after I got canceled on and started stressing). I was super nervous since this was the first time leaving him but I wrote instructions and I feel as though they followed every single one! I got picture updates as requested and when they had questions they asked. He got plenty of playtime and outdoor/potty time! They also didn't mind us bringing our crate to their home since were are crate training snd he sleeps in there. I will definitely use them again in the future! Thank you so much for taking Waffle into your home and treating him like your own!”

“Great communication and flexibility. They also offered a half price trial overnight which was a great idea. I was uncertain how Riley would do with young children as she’s never had experience with kids younger than middle school age and having this trial before a week long stay made me more comfortable. Riley had a good time with them and Dunkin. We’ve booked that week long stay.”

“Thomas and his sons took great care of Tucker while I was away. He responded quickly every time I reached out and Tucker seemed right at home when I picked him up at the end of his stay!”

“I was in Maryland for a wedding. My golden retriever stayed with Kwame for two nights. Great communication, easy drop off and pick up. My pup was happy to be able to play with other dogs during his stay.”

“Claudia did an amazing dogsitting job with Peter! She frequently communicated with pictures and videos. She kept him busy and entertained. Peter came home well fed and well rested. I will book with her again!”

About: We brought home our 1st puppy when our eldest daughter was 8 weeks old. Everything since then has been easy! Currently have an 8yr old Golden Retriever with a fenced in backyard. Each of our grown children took in a dog or puppy once they had their own homes. We have had cats, hamsters, fish, and guinea pigs over the years. I'm recently semi-retired and my daughters have used Rover for their dogs in far away states. I thought it would be a nice way to give our dog a playmate every once in a while. We have a large fenced in yard which your dog can run around or hangout with our dog if they'd like. Our house is split level so there could be 6 stairs at time to go up & down. I love to walk our dog & listen to books or podcasts.

“This was our first time using Rover.com. We were very comfortable leaving Emma with Donna. During her stay we received photos and updates showing how content she was. We can't wait to book again and will request Donna every time. Highly recommended!”

“Pearl is amazing! From booking to the time we picked our babies up, we had no problems at all. The moment we met Pearl, we immediately had this sense that our babies will be safe with her. Our babies stayed with Pearl for 5 nights. As a pet owner, you want to feel safe where you leave your precious babies, that’s exactly how we felt with Pearl. She has a lovely home and she treated our babies as if they were hers. She gives me updates and pictures daily which is a nice touch! I have already booked our next boarding with Pearl for our next trip! I’m so happy we found Pearl here.”

“Alessandra was quick to respond to my initial request for a sitter. Jesse enjoyed his stay with Alessandra and her family. She gave me daily updates with photos of his little vacation, car rides and all. Thank you Alessandra for taking care of our special needs sweet dog. I’m sure he was a challenge but I felt confident that he would be taken well cared for and he was. Please thank your daughter as well.”

“Sue was great. My dog got along with her two dogs, and had a nice fenced in yard for them to run and play. She kept me informed and sent me a couple of pics over the week. Havre de Grace isis on the way to the Baltimore airport so very convenient drop off snd pick up. I don’t travel Vera often but will reach out the next time I do.”

“Gisel and her family took great care of Ace for an entire week. She communicated daily with chats, photos and videos of my little fur baby. She really treated him like her own and I definitely am coming back to her again. I HIGHLY recommend her!”

“This was our first time using Lorraine and Rover. We couldn't have found a better person to watch our senior pooch. From our first meeting, we felt our girl was in a safe healthy environment and Lorraine was a caring, reliable sitter. Over the 2 week stay, Lorraine sent updates and pictures showing a contended, happy pooch. We highly recommend Lorraine. A+”

“Paris is a godsend! I have used Paris's services years ago, she was amazing then and even more amazing now. I get the pleasure of using Paris's services just about every week since the year started. Paris is professional, accommodating, flexible, kind, easy to work with, and does an outstanding job of taking care of Buddy. She treats Buddy like family. If you are in search for someone who will take excellent care of your fur baby, work with you, and make themselves available, then Paris should be at the top of your list. She comes highly recommended. A true 5 Star professional!”

“Ollie felt right at home. I loved the large fenced yard for off-leash exercise and that I got lots of picture updates. He enjoyed the extra company from other pups and children too. Thank you!!”

“Olive had such a wonderful stay! Megan & Vitaliy were wonderful hosts. They kept us updated, sent lots of pictures & videos. We will definitely be rebooking with them again in the future!”

“I’m thankful for Kari & Jospeh’s family for loving and caring my baby like their own, it was stress free time during his stay we’re I don’t have to worry about how he is doing since he is in great hands. My boy would love to come back again,”

“Samantha was wonderful! She sent me pictures throughout Rory’s stay and was wonderful at communicating. I could tell our pup had a great time because she’s normally very energetic and it is sleeping soundly on our bed. 10/10 recommend and would definitely book her again!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Westminister
I can't say enough wonderful things about our Rover sitter, Lee. She truly came through for us at a time when a previous sitter had nearly ruined our trip. From the moment she stepped in, she was so sweet, attentive, and caring toward our dog, it was such a relief. She sent us multiple updates throughout our trip, along with videos and photos of our happy pup, which meant the world to us. After the nightmare we'd been through with the earlier sitter, I was genuinely scared for our dog and worried I might have to cut the trip short and come home. My daughter had only received one picture from that previous sitter, and our dog looked scared and timid in it. That was NOT what we saw from Lee — with her, our dog was comfortable, relaxed, and his usual energetic, playful self. We are so deeply grateful to Lee, and I can't recommend her enough to anyone who wants true peace of mind while they're away from their furry family.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Westminister home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Westminister.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Westminister sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
