“John is such a great sitter and I will absolutely be booking him for all future trips! Our maltipoo Jack got along great with his whole family & immediately fit in with the pups. 10/10 recommend!”

“Sonya is an absolute angel. She took exceptional care of our Tootsie, sent tons of adorable pictures, and truly went above and beyond. We could not be more grateful or recommend her more highly. Absolutely amazing!”

“Simply put, Julian and his wife are amazing. I came in with great expectations and he met them and then some. They took care of my two puppies over the weekend and I think my puppies actually like them more than us now. We met up with Julian prior to the reservation to check out his place. His place is super neat and organized. Hardwood floors are a plus because they look good and my dogs prefer it since it's what they're on at home. The main room was spacious, properly kept at a good temperature, and smelled of nice things. It would be a great place to be tranquil and do yoga or something. As for Julian and his wife, they are genuinely good people from what I am able to tell. Not once did we feel weirded out or anxious that we were leaving our pups in bad, inexperienced hands. They kept constant communication, took photos from a real camera, and updated me accordingly. I will admit, I don't even want to write this review as I am afraid he will be too popular and not have time to watch our dogs again!”

“Catherine and her husband are amazing! You can tell they really care about dogs and will work around your dogs needs. We got a bunch of pictures and they had so many fun adventures during that time.”

About: I have taken care of all sorts of animals from farm animals to house pets. I have owned many dogs and cats in the past and now. I currently have 2 huskies and 2 cats of which I completely take care of. I also have work experience when I had a job in Texas working at a doggy daycare, I learned basic training methods along with gaining the proper experience to understand dog behavior. I have a relatively open schedule, I do work two other part time jobs one being mostly night time shift and the other is whenever I choose to work. Please know I try my best to help anyone even last minute requests, but sometimes I may not be available if asked to late! I always am happy to try to be available for everyone. This makes me pretty much 24/7 available, but it’s usually best if you schedule at least a few days to a week in advance. Prices for all of my services are not negotiable, depending on the service/details. To ease your comfort I offer a free meet-and-greet visit before any paid service is handled. This isn’t required before services, and I’m usually confident enough to go without one, but it can help answer any questions you have and ensure your pet is comfortable with me. If issues were to arise while I take care of your pets their safety is the first priority to me. I will be gentle and patient with any pet cared for.
“My husky, Sparky, had a wonderful time staying with Aiden! Aiden communicated well, made sure Sparky felt comfortable and cared for, and even took him for a nice hike. Sparky came back happy and healthy, and I'd be glad to ask for Aiden's help again in the future.”

“Peter was very gracious in accepting a last minute request to care for our dog and though the stay was short, our dog seemed very happy and content. Would definitely recommend Peter.”

“Kate was able to sit for Wedge in a pinch. She made the experience enjoyable for Wedge even on such a cold weekend! She shared pictures of Wedge while we were away. I could tell Wedge loved her, jumping up to say “Goodbye” before we left. Would book again for sure!”

“Louis and Haley are so kind, responsible, and clearly dog people! We appreciated the cute pictures and great care they took of our dog. Would definitely book with them again!”

“Alejandra took excellent care of my cat, who is a bit stand offish, but that was okay. Alejandra's home home is comfortable with lots of places for a cat to explore. I'd definitely board Sasha with her again.”

About: I grew up with many dogs normally two at a time. I grew up with a great pyrenees and bernese mountain dog. We have a french bulldog now and a pit bull so I am good with any breed!! My mom used this same platform to watch dogs for a while and i would help her! I am home for college right now, and am in desperate need for a job! I love dogs and animals and have always works extremely well with all sorts of breeds of dogs. I am available any time! I will follow every instructions the owners give. I will care for the animal as if they were my own and show them immense amounts of love and affection!
“Christina was an excellent host to Curie, our 8yr old female Labradane ! She was very accommodating and communicated often on how our dog was doing. She spent quality time to get to know her better and make her feel at home. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a 'home away from home' for their four-legged family members!”

“Aaron was a great fit for our dog - Miso loved spending the week with him. It took a few days for Miso to adjust to his first ever sitter and Aaron handled it well - checking in with us when he noticed that Miso wasn't eating and seemed a little home sick. By the end of the week, Miso seemed to be having a great time. Aaron sent pictures and updates throughout the week, which was really appreciated. We would highly recommend Aaron. He was open to meeting with us before we left on vacation and asked great questions (vet info, local contacts, likes and dislikes, etc). We usually leave Miso at a boarder, but since our trip was going to be longer than usual we were hoping to find someone local that could give Miso more personal attention and affection - Aaron made us feel comfortable leaving Miso with him for an extended period of time. Thanks for taking such good care of Miso for us, Aaron!”

“The love and care which Deb has given our dogs is extraordinary. She kept them during our two three week vacations in Italy and Thailand and tended to a medical issue with our vet despite great inconvenience to herself. Our dogs love her and their tails wag as they meet her each time. Deb teaches us to much about our dogs that we are especially grateful for her suggested techniques. You will not find a more caring or conscientious carer for your dog.”

About: I've been pet sitting for years, and throughout that time, I've developed a deep understanding of each pets’ unique personality and needs. What sets me apart from other sitters is my commitment to creating a comfortable, familiar environment for your fur baby, whether it's sticking to their regular routine, offering extra playtime, or ensuring they get plenty of cuddles and attention Currently unemployed, I am free most weekdays and weekends. I do want to also add that I have had 3 back surgeries within the last year so I am more able to take care of lower energy pets at the moment. I can walk dogs but it may be better if they aren’t heavy leash pullers! When caring for pets in clients’ homes, I am always respectful of house customs, rules and more. I make sure to follow all directions/instructions provided as I want to make your pets feel like you never left by keeping a routine they are used to!
“Eric did a great job. I could tell Sage felt comfortable with him right away. He took great care of her and was very communicative while we were on vacation. Will definitely book again!”

“Katie & Jonny are great dog sitters!! We felt completely comfortable leaving our dogs in their care, they are easy going nice people. Got plenty of picture & video updates during their stay, would definitely book with them again!”

Jackie took great care of Louie and we would definitely book with him again! He was attentive to Louie’s individual needs and is very reliable. Louie seemed like he got a lot of activity during his stay, balanced with rest time, and he got to play with other dogs too.

I couldn’t be happier with the care Gabby provided. I 100% recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, responsible, and loving to take care of their furry family member. Gabby is incredibly kind, friendly, and easy to communicate with. She sent me daily photos and updates, which gave me peace of mind knowing my puppy was happy and well cared for. I would absolutely trust Gabby with my dog again in the future. Thank you so much for taking such great care of my little one!☺️

Can you trust a stranger on this app with your precious fur baby? The answer is YES to Chris and his family! Our older dog had an incident early on in his stay. We were 6,000 miles away and 5 hours behind in time zones. Chris and his family instantly notified us with what happened after they stabilized our pup, was in contact with emergency vet, dropped all obligations including work to bring our dog to the regular vet first thing the next morning, after the emergency vet determined it wasn't necessary to bring him in, and Chris had a PLAN. Of course he ran it by us but it was exactly what we would have done. It was tough being so far away, but Chris and his family were PROS in this situation and could not have done anything more to make us feel as good as we could while being away, and he sent us pictures and or videos every day of the entire stay. I unfortunately cannot give more than 5 stars, but I can give my highest recommendation, and absolute TRUST that my fur baby is in the best of hands with a stranger. Thank you Chris and your family for being awesome! Best regards - Henry

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their West View home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your West View.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your West View sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VT ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
