I highly recommend Ashely. She demonstrated exceptional care, visiting three times a day to shower our pets with love. Not only did she attend to their needs, but she also went the extra mile by bringing in mail and packages, taking plenty of adorable pictures, and cleaning up any messes. Trustworthy and attentive, she exceeded our expectations.

Courtney did a great job taking care of my dog, Roxi. She was dependable, easy to communicate with, and I could tell Roxy was well cared for while I was away. It gave me peace of mind knowing she was in good hands. I would definitely use Courtney again and would recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable dog sitter.

About: I've taken care of pets my entire life, I currently have 3 senior cats and 1 senior dog. I have 2 years of experience working in pet care facilities so I'm more than capable of handling all types of dogs and cats, including reactive/possessive dogs. I've been trained in cleaning, playing, monitoring play groups, feeding, and giving medication to all different sizes, breeds, and reactivity of dogs. I believe every pet deserve love and patience and I enjoy providing them with that. I also worked specifically with reactive/aggressive dogs for a year so feel free to reach out if you're dog needs a little more effort than most. :) I don't currently have a set schedule so feel free to reach out and we can figure out what works best for myself and your pets. I can walk, play with, feed, let out to potty, clean up after, and give meds to your wonderful pets depending on your needs. :)

Communication was excellent throughout, and he was reliable, attentive, and clearly genuinely cared about our cats’ well-being. We would absolutely trust Jake again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for dependable and trustworthy pet care.

About: My family and I had two amazing dogs growing up who recently passed away, and I’ve really been missing that kind of dog love. I just graduated college and would love to spend more time around pets while gaining more experience caring for them. I recently graduated college, where I was a student-athlete majoring in criminology and sociology. I’m looking to gain more hands-on experience in animal care while I'm in the application process— and have a pretty flexible schedule! When caring for pets in a client's home, I prioritize maintaining their familiar surroundings. and following their routines, including feeding times, walks, and play sessions. I make sure to provide regular updates to the owners, giving them peace of mind while they're away.

Uduak was wonderful! She was communicative with my husband and I, and very patient with my pup who is not comfortable with new people. Uduak followed instructions to a tee, and also used her discernment in caring for Mozzy (even cleaning up an accident he had without us requesting she do so). 10 out of 10 would recommend. We will definitely be using her services again in the future.

About: I’ve spent 17 years caring for other people’s pets, beginning with pet sitting at age 16 and later working as a veterinary technician and horse farm manager. I genuinely love getting to know each animal’s personality and helping them feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their family is away. I’m confident with dogs of every size and age—from playful puppies and giant breeds to seniors, anxious dogs, and pets with special needs. Whether your dog enjoys an active walk, enthusiastic playtime, enrichment, lots of affection, or quiet companionship, I’ll tailor each visit to what makes them happiest. My experience with cats, dogs, horses, and other farm animals has made me calm, patient, and attentive to body language, even with large or nervous animals. I cared for my own senior dog through arthritis, hip problems, and renal failure, and I now share my life with a tripawd dog with anxiety. I understand the patience and creativity sometimes needed to support mobility, comfort, medications, supplements, specialized diets, and changing routines. I’m also comfortable administering veterinarian-prescribed oral, topical, and intramuscular medications and subcutaneous fluids. I’ll care for your pet with the same attentiveness and affection I give my own, follow your instructions carefully, and keep you connected through thoughtful updates and plenty of photos. Pet care is already a natural part of my everyday routine. I care for my own tripawd dog, including regular walks, feeding, enrichment, and the extra patience needed for her mobility and anxiety. I enjoy building my day around animals and understand how important consistency is to their comfort. I offer drop-in visits during daytime and evening hours throughout the week, including weekends. I keep my Rover calendar current and accept only the visits I can complete reliably, so your pet receives my full attention and care at the time we’ve arranged. For drop-in visits, I care for pets in the comfort of their own home, where familiar surroundings and routines can help them feel secure. I follow each family’s instructions closely, including feeding, fresh water, medications, walks or potty breaks, playtime, enrichment, litter-box care, and any household details you would like handled. Safety begins with learning about your pet’s routine, temperament, medical needs, triggers, equipment, and emergency contacts. Before walks, I check collars, harnesses, and leashes for a secure fit, and I remain attentive to body language and our surroundings. I never force interaction with a nervous pet and allow trust to develop at their pace. I take care when entering and leaving, confirm that doors and gates are secured, clean up after your pet, and make sure they are comfortable before I go. After every visit, I’ll send a thoughtful update with photos and let you know about eating, drinking, bathroom habits, behavior, medications, or anything unusual I notice.

About: What sets me apart is my genuine love for animals and my experience as a former dog owner. I’m patient, attentive, and enjoy learning each pet’s individual personality and needs. I’m also interested in animal behavior and care, so I see pet sitting as an opportunity to continue learning while giving pets the same love and attention I would give my own. As a full-time college student, pet care fits into my routine by allowing me to care for pets around my class schedule. I plan ahead to make sure I can dedicate enough time and attention to each pet I care for. When you leave your pet in my care, I want you to feel confident knowing they are safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I’ll treat your pet as if they were my own, while respecting their routine, personality, and individual needs. I’ll also treat your home with the same care and respect, keeping things clean and making sure your pet feels comfortable in their familiar environment. My goal is to give both you and your pet peace of mind while you’re away.

About: I have many years of hands on experience caring for dogs, cats, and other animals of all breeds, sizes, ages, and personalities. I’ve worked in animal shelters and have been working at Beechnut Kennels for the past 3 years, caring for pets daily through feeding, exercise, playgroups, cleaning, and monitoring their health and behavior. I also foster cats and kittens and have experience with shy, fearful, reactive, and feral animals. I’m comfortable administering medications and using Fear Free handling techniques to keep pets as comfortable and stress-free as possible. I truly love animals and treat every pet in my care like they’re my own! I currently work part-time at Beechnut Kennels, which gives me flexibility to provide dependable pet care throughout the week. I offer drop-in visits, walks, and overnight care, and I’ll do my best to accommodate your pet’s routine. Mary was outstanding with my 3 dogs! She came and met them prior to caring for them so they would be less wary of a stranger. My two boxers can be intimidating but Mary waited until they were comfortable before she greeted them. I consider them a bit high maintenance but she did great with them! Will definitely be rebooking for future needs!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 14,990 sitters on Rover offering Pet Sitting across West River. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a West River stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in West River. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
