“Thank you very much Joan and Thomas for taking such good care of Oli, I’m sure he enjoyed all the walks and attention that you gave him. We were very happy that we were able to find you so quickly. We appreciate all your care for our Oli-fur 😊 Thanks again, Lorraine and Rich”

“Derek and Chelsea were nothing short of amazing in their care for our 2 dogs while we were away. They constantly sent pictures and updates which put us at ease. We also got in touch with them on short notice and they were able to accommodate us after I brought the dogs out for a meet-and-greet with them (and Piper)! They have a great property if you have active dogs, they went on long walks along/in the creek, through the woods and would also just let them play in the huge yard. Charlie, our 2yr old standard Goldendoodle, has to get 4 pills/day for seizures and they had no problems getting him his meds when he needed to take them. In the end, they were great and we’d absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for pet care!”

“HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! WILL DEFINITELY BE A REPEAT CUSTOMER! We couldn’t have been more appreciative with the care Erika provided taking care of our young puppy for the 5 days we were away. Erika’s pup Huxley was the perfect play mate for our pup to feel right at home and to help burn off energy. Erika was very easy to communicate with and sent us updates multiple times a day with how our pup was doing.”

“Hi Everyone my name is Tonka! Woof! I'm 9 and a really fun girl. I love to lounge and eat, yeah, yummy eating anything!!! But don't get me wrong I love to play. I was a little shy at first but snapped out of it fast because Dana and Jeremy took really excellent care if me, belly rubs, letting me on their stuff, and setting up a king size doggie bed for me to watch all the happenings outside the window, Woof!. And they have a great huge awesome fenced in yard to keep me safe but allow me to play! And Jeremy plowed me a path but who needs that, I love to barrel and tunnel right though the snow. Even with my short little legs. Bathroom time and play time combined. It was great. Woof! Oh well they did listen very well to my mom's instructions for feeding. Ho hum, grr, well I like to eat, but they kept me to my feedings and treats allowance. I couldn't pull one over on them. Come on a girl needs to try. Woof! Well that's it for now. I won't be afraid next time my mom goes away, I know I'll get to see Dana and Jeremy and have a blast while she's away. So give them a try, you'll love it. Woof! <3 Tonks”

“Jenn and Brian were outstanding hosts for Cooper. Not only were they flexible with our times and willing to work with us, but they clearly understand dogs, owning their own dogs and having fostered dogs in the past. Jenn kept me posted on his activities and energy level, and clearly she wore him out as he's been sleeping since the moment we put him in the car 4.5 hours ago. Playing in their backyard and with their pups certainly wore our energetic 2 year old out. We highly recommend Jenn and Brian for their care with your dog.”

“Mickey was great. She made Beasley feel very comfortable and treated him like one of the family. She even bought him a sweater that she let us keep while we were gone because it got very cold out. He not only loved her but he also made a couple new friends at her house. Sunny and Sylvester were great companions for him during his stay. We will definitely be calling Mickey for future travels when Beasley needs a place to stay.”

“I’m so grateful she accepted my dog last minute on the same day. She took amazing care of him and treated him like her own. I felt completely at ease knowing he was in such loving, reliable hands. We’ll be back!! Highly recommend!”

“Denae and Mark were absolute angels! They are such nice people! I felt that my crazy, young pittie was in great hands! Zero felt right at home during the first meet and greet and that made leaving her there for a long weekend less anxiety-inducing for both me and her as she is a bit of an anxious dog. They made her feel so comfortable! I will definitely be booking with them again and would recommend them for anyone! Lots of pictures and great communication! Thank you Mark and Denae!”

“Danielle was awesome! Gus had an amazing time and was so tuckered out when he got home yesterday which tells me he was well cared for and played a lot. She was very responsive and provided great updates daily.”

About: I have been taking care of animals for as long as I can remember and have been pet-sitting since age 10 for family, friends, and neighbors. I have almost always lived with at least one cat or dog (or both!) throughout my life. I also have experience caring for rabbits, ferrets, gerbils, fish, parakeets, bearded dragons, and cockatiels. I currently live with two indoor tortoiseshell cats who are comfortable with dogs, and one of my cats is leash-trained. I have raised and trained at least 11 dogs from puppies to adulthood (3 as my own and the others for my parents). Most of my cats I adopted as teenagers, but I have raised a few kittens from a young age. I have done extensive dog training with the 3 dogs I raised as my own in the past, and I am familiar with both dog and cat training techniques. I live in a cabin the woods in Boston, NY, on a power line gravel road. Although I do not have a fenced in back yard, your dog will enjoy going on leashed walks down the power line road multiple times per day! I earn a living through a mix of substitute teaching (summer starts June 25th!), remote research and writing gigs, tutoring, child care, and pet care. I have a flexible schedule and incorporate pet care into the mix as much as possible because I love animals. If I am boarding a dog at my home, I will not be house sitting at that time (and vice versa). While boarding or house sitting, I will consider dog walking and drop-ins depending on the needs of the client and driving distance. If you board your dog at my home, my cats and I wake up early (about 6am) and I like to go outside for a walk down the power line road right away, and then eat breakfast. Your dog will be able to spend time with me all day (on a leash when we are outside), and if I need to leave my house, they will be in their crate for no more than 4 hours (2 is my strong preference). We will go for at least one more walk before dinner, too. I will be sure to give them plenty of play time and exercise throughout the day (depending on their level of activity and how hot it is outside). No matter what, they will get a lot of love and attention! I live in a cabin in the woods in the Town of Boston, NY, so although I do not have a fenced-in yard, there is very little traffic or people around. I will be able to go on long leashed walks with your dog down the power line for exercise, and there are a few friendly neighbor dogs that would love to say hello if your dog is up for that. I do live with two cats: one of them will hide a lot while your dog is here, but the other is very dog-friendly and will want to interact with your dog. I will monitor and separate them as needed (I have a spare room). I have always crate-trained my dogs and so long as your dog is comfortable in their crate, I will use it as a safe place for them to be while they are staying with me.
“Kiara & Yves are genuinely such fantastic pet sitters, and kept my mind at ease during travel knowing that my cat was in such good hands! Not only were they very kind and pleasant to talk to, but Kiara was very knowledgeable about animals in general and shared some useful information. They were very diligent in making sure my kitty was being cared for properly, along with sending updates and pictures. From medication, to going out of their way to buy specific kibble that my cat was used to after not adjusting, you can be assured that your pet will be watched by responsible, enthusiastic, and caring folks.”

“My dog seemed to have a good time while staying with Melissa! Melissa’s dogs were friendly and got along with mine at the initial meeting. The fenced in back yard was perfect for my dog who enjoys spending time lounging outside. Drop off and pick was easy and flexible.”

“Lindsey has watched my dog a couple of times and is wonderful. Recently she accommodated a very last minute stay which I’m so grateful for. Lots of walks and attention for my dog. Highly recommend!”

“Katie was an excellent sitter for our dog Louie, while we were on a long vacation! This is the first time using Rover, as well as having someone outside of our family, watching our pet and it was an excellent experience! She sent daily updates and pictures which helped in dealing with the separation anxiety! Recommend highly and will use again!”

“Karen and her husband were so hospitable and kind! They loved my dog as their own ❤️ They walked him, fed him, played with him and took plenty of photos for me! My dog is very expressive and we could really tell he was SO happy there- when we picked him up, it was so clear he LOOOVED them. They were so, so sweet when we picked him up/dropped him off and made both me and my husband feel so comfortable & safe leaving our baby with them.”

“Alena was VERY accommodating. We ran into a hiccup during boarding and she was so helpful in working out a solution. I loved the pictures and videos of Kirra!”

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
