“My cat, who is usually pretty shy, warmed up to Sallie very quickly. I can tell she gave him tons of snuggles and playtime while I was out of town. She always responded very quickly to questions and sent tons of photos.”

“Rachael was great with our dog Ruthie while we were away. We had a friend staying with her for the week but Rachael helped out with mid day breaks while he was at work. She sent pics every day which made us feel so much better. Would definitely recommend Rachael for your pet sitting needs!”

“This was my first time using Rover, and Lauran made the entire experience so easy and stress-free. She kept me updated daily with messages and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind. She truly went above and beyond when any issues came up. I would absolutely book with her again!”

“We had Bayley drop in for our pups dinner time two days in a row. Both days we came home late and our dogs were tuckered out from their hour with her, they didn’t even care that we were home! So nice to know they were fed, loved on, and got some good energy out of their system. We recommend Bayley and would rebook with her in the future!”

About: I have taken care of cats and dogs of all ages and stages. I have delivered puppies and taken care of them through their first 8 weeks of life. I have cared for older dogs giving them medication in various ways. I am a typical home body so overnight stays will ensure that your pet is seen, cuddled and cared for extended periods of time throughout the week. Daily I am home by 5:00. In my home pets are apart of the family. My only boundary is that pets are not allowed on the furniture, me and my kids have allergies and need the sheets to be clean!
“Carolina and Jenerth were excellent cat sitters and would 100% book with them again! my cat is very shy, but they were able to get her out from under the bed and playing. They went the extra mile with her as well as with my home. Each day, I received thoughtful updates and adorable photos, which made me feel at ease. Highly recommend this them for anyone needing a compassionate and dedicated caregiver!”

About: I have grown up around animals and have experience with elderly dogs and very anxious cats specifically. My two childhood puppies grew up and I helped assist with their needs, such as medicine and helping them walk around with patience. I also understand what it’s like to have a very anxious cat— mine is too. I have one cat, a fish, and a snail of my own now! I’m currently building my health coaching clientele working from home. I take frequent breaks to walk at the park and often spend the majority of the day working on various tasks at home. I’m very flexible with my schedule right now! Since I have an anxious and non-sociable cat of my own at home I will be more open to visits such as drop-in’s and taking fur babies out on walks at the park right now!
About: I’ve had pets my entire life and have been caring for the animals of friends and family for many years. I have experience caring for puppies and older dogs. I understand how hard it is to leave the furry member of the family to someone else’s care so I am dedicated to treating them as my own. I am currently a PhD student so I have many flexible hours throughout the day. With access to a car, I can reliably drop in and walk animals several times a day if needed. I can come to the home to care for and walk pets as needed. I know how to walk dogs of many sizes safely and have even leash trained my cat. Pets have different care needs and I am well equipped to adapt to each pet.

“Felicia was the best sitter for our puppy! She took Frannie on walks, played with her, and made sure the tv was on for our girl! She was very responsive and showed up on time. Frannie loved her. Will definitely be scheduling with Felicia in the future.”

About: Growing up, outside of school I spent a good portion of my free time volunteering at a local animal shelter and actively challenging kids around me to help provide care to pets in most need. Over the years, these experiences have translated into a unique skill set of tricks and techniques to provide your pet with the utmost attention and care they deserve. My goal is to offer any pet (cat, dog, any other small animal) under my supervision unparalleled quality of care and a loving home environment. My home has a fenced backyard. The fenced yard allows for free play at least once every 1-2 hours with my supervision. my home is a partitioned pet safe area where they can freely roam. I have tons of toys for all sizes and want their stay to be a vacation for them. :) I have one small corgi that are extremely friendly and love to play with new friends. If bringing your animal to my residence is not convenient, I offer a pick up and drop off service for a round trip fee. My goal is to simplify your pet care needs, by providing unparalleled quality care, a loving home environment, and peace of mind that your family member is being taken care of by a loving family I work at home as a front-end software developer, my work schedule is flexible meaning I can provide as much attention as your pet deserves Most services needed or requested can be accommodated. Pets are allowed to roam inside my home or in my yard with my supervision. I take dogs on at least 3 walks a day if weather permits. I can accommodate most requests I currently work a part-time job from home that allows for a ton of flexibility. That being said I have a ton of time to play with your pups and give them the attention and care they deserve. My schedule is very flexible and I seek to make things as convenient as possible for you. I have a fenced in yard and one friendly dog that are always looking to make new friends. “We appreciate you so much! Emily genuinely cares about our dog’s welfare and health and will go out of her way to help and make him more comfortable. He is not the easiest pet, but despite his sometimes confusing behavior, Emily goes above and beyond to provide the highest level of care.”
“Mary took great care of my cat, provided updates and photos, and even noticed that the toilet was running, let me know, and kindly assisted in turning off the water for me.”

About: My love for dogs started in third grade when I wrote a persuasive essay to my parents about why I want a dog. I grew up with two mini Australian Shepherds (yes, because of my essay) and to this day, my enthusiasm for dogs still grows. I work full time in the office. I can accommodate check ins and walks in the evenings Monday - Friday. Depending on location, I can also check in before work. Before I come take care of your dog, I will make sure that any of your questions and concerns are answered as well as any questions I may have.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
