“Kellie was absolutely phenomenal. The moment Kellie came over to meet my pets, a good two weeks before my travel, I knew my fur babies would be in trustworthy, caring and knowledgeable hands. Kellie made sure she understood the needs of both my animals and understood what was needed to make sure they felt safe and loved in my absence. Kelli checked in with me multiples times a day, letting me know what was going on. She also went above and beyond what was required of her, from making sure my garbage cans were on the curb for pick-up day to watering my plants. If you are on the fence with using Rover to care for your pets while you are traveling or at work, I get it. I was too, but rest assured that will Kellie your cherished fur babies are safe and taken care of, and your home is not at risk.”

About: I’ve been a dog lover my whole life and grew up as the go-to dog sitter for friends and family. Caring for pups is second nature to me! One day I dream of opening a dog park/sanctuary, but until then, I’m here to give your dog lots of love, attention, and tail-wagging care while you’re away. I currently work remotely. I am able to do same day drop ins or plan ahead! I am very happy taking pups on walks/runs! I run everyday! I can stop by for a quick potty break or stay awhile to give your pup some company! I am happy to take them out for a walk or let them run in your backyard! I can also crate them or whatever works best for you!

About: I have owned dogs since I was a kid. They have all been there for me in every stage of my life and don’t know what I would do without them. Just want to share the love that I have for my own dogs to others. I am currently a student-athlete at Southwestern University and am looking to love on some dogs as well as make a little bit of extra money to help. My pet dog Cocoa is very crazy and a lot to handle yet we always have the best time together and make everything we do work so I am capable of helping with any sort of pup or dog!

About: Before I begin, I do have a completely separate area fully furnished downstairs with 360sq ft for any dogs or cats that don’t do well with other cats so that will not be an issue. Long term cat boarding is encouraged. 🐾 Four cats of my own, a huge love for dogs, and plenty of room for more furry friends! As a pet parent myself, I understand that every animal has their own personality, routines, and little quirks. Whether your dog wants to play fetch until their legs give out or your cat prefers to supervise me from across the room, I’m here for it! 😂 One of the biggest perks of booking with me is that I work from home, so I have a flexible schedule! This allows me to accommodate different pet care needs and work around your pets’ routines whenever possible. Your babies deserve more than someone who just shows up, fills a bowl, and disappears! I’m big on keeping things clean, maintaining consistent feeding routines, respecting each pet’s boundaries, and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. As a cat mom of four, I know how important it is to pay attention to the little details, and I’m just as excited to spoil your pups with attention, playtime, and walks! You can expect reliable communication, photo updates, and plenty of reassurance that your pets are in good hands. My goal is simple: happy pets, stress-free humans, and enough photos to make you wonder if your pets even miss you. 🐶🐱❤️ Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover and proud cat mom of four, so you could say pets already run my household! 😂🐾 I work from home, which gives me a flexible schedule and makes pet sitting a natural fit for my lifestyle. I love having the opportunity to spend time with animals throughout my day, whether that means taking dogs on walks, playing with energetic pups, keeping cats company, or giving a shy kitty the space they need to feel comfortable. I’m happy to incorporate pet care into my daily routine and make sure your fur babies get plenty of attention while you’re away. Having four cats of my own has taught me how important it is to understand each pet’s unique personality, respect their boundaries, maintain consistent routines, and keep their spaces clean. I know that trusting someone with your pets is a big deal, and I want you to feel confident knowing they’re being cared for like family. Since I work from home, I can offer flexibility when scheduling visits and walks, depending on your pet’s needs and my availability. I’m also happy to provide photo updates so you can see what your babies are up to while you’re away! Whether your pet is a playful pup, a cuddly cat, or a little diva who thinks they own the place (no judgment, I live with four of them 😂), I’d love to meet them! Your pets get a caring, reliable sitter, and I get to spend my day doing something I genuinely love. It’s a win win! ❤️🐾 My approach to pet care is to make every pet feel safe, comfortable, and loved while keeping their normal routine as consistent as possible. Since I work from home, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to plan my day around pet visits, walks, feeding times, and playtime! For care in your client’s home: I prioritize keeping your pets on their usual schedule, whether that means morning walks, scheduled meals, playtime, litter box maintenance, or simply keeping them company. I respect your home, follow your instructions carefully, and make sure your pets receive plenty of attention while you’re away. I also provide photo updates so you can see how your babies are doing! For dogs: I love incorporating walks, playtime, enrichment, and plenty of attention based on each dog’s energy level and personality. Whether your pup is adventurous and energetic or prefers leisurely walks and couch time, I’ll adapt to their needs. For cats: As a cat mom of four, I’m familiar with the importance of clean litter boxes, consistent feeding routines, and respecting each cat’s individual personality. Some cats want all the attention, while others need time to warm up, and I’m happy to let them set the pace. My goal is to make your time away as stress-free as possible for both you and your pets. I’ll treat your home with respect, follow your care instructions, and make sure your fur babies get the love and attention they deserve. ❤️🐶🐱

About: I grew up in an animal shelter. Sounds crazy right? Well, it's true. My mom has always worked around animals(and still does) so I was always right by her side. Whether it be at animal shelters, helping with adoptions, walking, feeding, giving medications. Anything to be involved ! Then she became a Veterinarian. So of course, when I got old enough, I worked at her clinic. I've truely worked with animals my whole life and have always had animals of my own. I am currently working as an Animal Rescue Coordinator each day but would love to further my pet care business . My fur babies are my children and I treat them as so. You will always be able to find comfort knowing that I will treat your fur babies with the same love and care as my own! My favorite thing to do is spend time with my 3 dogs. A few things we love doing are going to the dog park, playing fetch, frisbee, going to the lake to swim, agility, hiking, and of course getting frozen yogurt! I would be more than happy to spend time with your pup doing these things. I'm sure they deserve it! I can't wait to spoil your pup and put your mind at ease knowing he/she is loved, safe, and happy while you're away. Your fur babies deserve the best! I currently work part time in VetMed so my schedule is fairly flexible. I have a small hobby farm of my own with several different types of pets that I love caring for. However, I love working with other pets and providing an established routine and relationship, as well. I will be available most weekdays and some weekends. I care for pets in my home/client’s home as if they were my own. They are allowed on furniture/beds if the owner is okay with this. I have doggy gates for separation of other animals if needed. Pets are never left unattended in my home. If I must leave for any reason, your pet must be kenneled in my home. In your home, I will adhere to your routine and guidelines of course.

“Overall amazing. I had a last minute trip to attend to and couldn’t be able to bring my dog around family (since they’re allergic) and was scrambling to find someone to pet sit. Luckily Aleece responded very quickly to my inquiry and was able to check in on my dog that same day I scheduled the appointment. Very attentive and punctual and overall super friendly. I believe my corgi had a good time with Aleece judging from the pictures she sent me of him playing. Will be booking again in the future.”

FAQs for Pet Sitting - Waterloo

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
