Samantha has such a sweet and caring energy that our finicky pup took to her right away. She was conscientious, taking notes to get everything right. Samantha was so gracious about the little extras like pulling the blinds and leaving lights on. I highly recommend Samantha!

Brandy took excellent care of our pets! We have two older animals both with medication schedules and unique challenges and Brandy provided excellent care throughout our entire absence. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a in-home sitter in this area.

About: I’ve been pet sitting for about 4 years now and I love all animals! I can do puppies all the way to senior pets and I have no problem with any breeds! I also love reptiles and rodents if you have any in addition to dogs or cats, i’d happily do anything you need me to do for them! I am a college student at siue but I still have a super flexible schedule and i have a lot of free time to hang out with pets! i’ve grown up with pets all my life and even worked at a doggy daycare in my hometown so i’d love to be there for pets who don’t like daycares and prefer to stay in their own space. Also, weather doesn’t bother me so i’ll walk your pet in rain or shine!

About: I’ve always loved animals and genuinely enjoy spending time caring for them, playing with them, and making sure they feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. I understand that pets are family, so I treat every dog with the same patience, attention, and love I would want for my own. What sets me apart is that I truly care about making pets feel happy, relaxed, and cared for, not just watched. I pay close attention to each dog’s personality and needs, whether that means lots of playtime, cuddles, walks, or simply giving them a calm environment where they feel secure. I also know how important communication is, so I make sure owners feel comfortable with updates and pictures while they’re away. My goal is to make both pets and owners feel completely at ease and confident in the care they’re receiving. I am currently home from college for the summer, I am available at almost any time! I do not typically work after 10 PM but can work something out if needed. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on keeping their routine as normal and comfortable as possible. I make sure they are fed on schedule, have fresh water, get plenty of attention, exercise, and playtime, and feel safe while their owners are away. I also understand that being in their own home helps many pets feel more relaxed and secure. I’m respectful of each client’s home and follow all care instructions carefully, including walks, medications, crate routines, bedtime routines, or any special needs. I also provide updates and photos so owners can feel reassured knowing their pets are happy and well cared for.

About: I used to foster dogs. My yard is pretty big and I have a doggie door. My dogs do not mind visitors. I am off work during the summer and all major holidays. I am a teacher so I am off for the summers. When school is in session, I get off early and I am usually home before 4pm. I have a fenced in yard that can be accessed by a doggie door. I have 3 small dogs. I walk them and play with them on a regular basis. I also have 2 cats.

About: I have a miniature bernedoodle that is my baby. I love all dogs and I have no met a dog that I do not get along with. I make sure that the dog is comfortable with me before any interaction. I am a very upbeat and bubbly person who enjoys walks and exercise! I am an early bird so I do not mind getting anywhere early. During the week, I am at the gym early in the am and then take my dog to my parents to play with their dog a few times a week. I talk my walk just about everyday of the week and it’s a great thing to do for both of us and we both enjoy it. In the evenings, I try to talk her for another walk if I can when the weather is nice. Most evenings, I am home and playing with my own dog. I plan on offering potty breaks and dog walking. I really make sure that the pets are taken care of and have all they need. For my own dog, when she stays at home by herself a couple times a week, I make sure she has toys and a radio on so it’s not dead silence. As soon as I get home, I take her out and play with her outside and get her to run out her wiggles.

About: I have had pets in the house my whole life. My grandpa had a farm so I have been around animals since I was little. We have even had several pet pigs that were litter box trained. When I was younger, I would sneak stray cats into the house so they would have a place to stay and I always made sure to feed any stray animals that were too scared to come to anyone. I am that person that always stops if I see an animal wondering around outside, even in areas where I probably shouldn't even stop at stop signs. I have two boys, 7 and 19 months old that share my love for animals. We would be thrilled to spoil and love on your pets if you are planning a trip out of town or just need someone to stop by so your fur babies can have some play time and a bathroom break. I work full time close to Lambert Airport so I have limited availability during the week. On the weekends I am typically home amd welcome any dogs to stay with us as long as they are up to date on vaccines and currently taking flea and tick treatments. Our pups are just like family members. They have free roam throughout the house and are allowed on furniture. We have several dog beds, plenty of toys, and a fenced in backyard.

About: I’ve had a dog since I was 9 years old. I’ve been taking care of them ever since! I have been watching other dogs since I was a teenager. I’ve pet sat a good variety of dogs, from border collies to labs and teeny little Pomeranian mixes! I have a good deal of availability during the summer, so my schedule is very flexible! I teach private lessons on Monday and Friday afternoons for a couple hours, otherwise my other jobs provide me a good deal of flexibility, so that I can pet set as much as possible! At my home our dogs have an electric fence, and have been properly trained not to cross the invisible line. I have also lived in areas where dogs are fenced in, and even with neither type of fence and just a long chain attached to the ground. Regardless I will take care of your pet regardless of the outdoor situation. I am pretty physically fit, so I can carve out some good time to take them on walks, long or short! I follow your instructions to the T when it comes to specific needs and potty/bed times. I will come to you and do whatever needs to be done to make sure your pet is happy and safe!

I have experience caring for pets because my family has four dogs. I know how to safely put dogs in their crates, let them outside for potty breaks, and take them on walks. About: Hi! I'm a K-1 reading teacher with 5 years of teaching experience, and I'm looking forward to spending my summer helping care for your pups! As a teacher, I am dependable, responsible, and patient. I've had dogs my entire life and have spent years walking and pet sitting for friends and family. I currently have a Miniature Pinscher named Pinot, who is my whole world, so I understand how important it is to find someone who will care for your dog like family. Whether your pup needs walks, playtime, cuddles, or companionship, I'll make sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for while you're away. Since I'm currently on summer break, I have a very flexible schedule and can accommodate a variety of pet care needs. I can't wait to meet you and your furry family member! Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. As a teacher currently on summer break, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pets in my care. My own dog, Pinot, is a big part of my everyday life, so walks, playtime, feeding, and lots of affection are already built into my day. I enjoy being active and spending time with animals, making pet care something I genuinely look forward to each week rather than just another task. When caring for pets in a client's home, I follow their established routine as closely as possible to help their pet feel comfortable and secure. Whether I'm stopping by for a potty break, feeding, playtime, or a walk, I make sure each pet receives plenty of attention, affection, and exercise. I always prioritize safety, follow any specific instructions provided by the owner, and keep them updated with photos and messages so they can have peace of mind while they're away.

Having a total care senior dog can be extremely stressful when planning a trip out of town. My dogs used to be road trip champs but unfortunately due to old age and one handicap, they have to stay behind. From the moment Mason came for a meet and greet both dogs greeted him and were calm and happy in their presence. Masons confidence and willingness to care for my total care senior dog was a relief. I was able to go out of town for 5 days with a peace of mind knowing that they were not only well taken care of but happy as well. I highly recommend him for all your doggie needs.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Waterloo stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
