“Working with Gary is a total pleasure. He is kind, responsive and very attentive to detail. It's always such a relief to be able to head out of town without having to worry about my cats - I'd look forward to working with Gary again any time!”

“Chelsea was amazing! She treated our senior dog with such love. She was on time and she shared great pics of Tucker enjoying Chelsea’s visit. She is trustworthy and I hope to use her services again in the future. Thank you, Chelsea, for looking after our little man while we couldn’t. 💛”

About: I’ve been caring for animals my entire life, from dogs and cats to horses and other pets, at every stage of life. I’m comfortable with puppies, seniors, and pets who need extra patience and care, including bathing and tending to their individual needs. Above all, I genuinely love animals and treat every pet in my care with the same compassion, attention, and respect I would give my own. I unfortunately recently got laid off. So I have plenty of time to dedicate to caring for your beloved pets. Most weekends I like to spend with my family but I am willing to work something out. I have a beautiful neighborhood with just shy of half a mile walk around the block for pets that need walking. Our home provides a nice open floor plan for bigger animals to feel right at home. If I'm coming to your neck of the woods then we'll discuss a pre-approved walking path that everyone feels comfortable with.

“Gabrielle is an amazing cat sitter! She's so kind and obviously loves animals. She did a wonderful job taking care of our 3 kitties. We will absolutely ask her again and highly recommend her services.”

“We hired Mary to take care of our 2 Chihuahuas for drop in visits for 3 nights during our wedding. She was great, she was on time and very nice. She left me notes on how they were doing and took pictures and I was able to see they were well taken care of. She was even able to give one of our dogs medication during each visit. I would recommend to anyone looking for a dog sitter.”

About: I absolutely love spending time with furry friends! I’ve cared for puppies, senior dogs, and even some shy rescues. I enjoy taking dogs for long walks, playing fetch at the park, and giving all the belly rubs they deserve. I’m responsible, punctual, and make sure each pet gets personalized attention and affection while you’re away. I’m currently a college student with a flexible class schedule, which allows me to spend plenty of quality time with pets throughout the week. I usually have mornings and evenings free, perfect for walks, playtime, and cuddles. Taking care of animals is a great way for me to relax and recharge between classes—it honestly makes my day better! I make sure every pet in my care feels safe, happy, and loved. While I don’t have a fenced yard, I live just a short walk away from a beautiful dog park where pets can get plenty of safe, supervised outdoor time. I always keep dogs on a leash during walks and pay close attention to their comfort and behavior. At home, I have two super friendly resident pets who love meeting new friends and are great at helping other pets feel relaxed and welcome. I keep my space clean, calm, and pet-friendly, with lots of cozy spots for rest and play. Your furry friend will be treated just like family here! 🐶💛

About: I am a huge animal lover and have had a dog or other pet in my life since I was born. I volunteered at the Animal Rescue League in early 2012. I was approved to walk all levels of dogs including the bigger breeds. I have yet to find a breed I do not enjoy working with. I have some experience with training and would be happy to add some simple obedience to my visits. I have also worked at PetSmart in their hotel. I am very comfortable with other pets and am willing to accept caring for cats, small and furry animals as well as reptiles if that is something you are looking for. About: Hello! My name is Laura and I live in Trafford, PA with my fiancé, Nathan, and our old golden retriever puppy, Meadow :). I bring a lifetime of hands-on experience with a wide variety of pets — not just dogs and cats, but also hamsters, chinchillas, guinea pigs and have even fostered a groundhog. I’ve grown up with pets all my life and couldn’t imagine a life without a furry family member. I’m comfortable with any and all pets including puppies who need structure, potty breaks, and tons of attention, as well as senior pets who may require a slower pace, extra gentleness, and close attention to their routines. I always keep owners updated so they feel connected and reassured:) I pride myself on being reliable, communicative, and calm, even with shy, anxious, or energetic pets. Whether it’s walking, feeding, playing, or just keeping them company, I make sure every pet feels safe and loved! I am a registered dental hygienist and work locally in Monroeville, PA. I work Monday–Thursday from 7am–4pm, but am available for evening walks and drop-ins. I’m fully available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays for anything you need, including weekend boarding or day-care! I also have an entire week off around Christmas time, so I’ll be home and fully available for holiday bookings, extended stays, or extra visits during that time :). Pet care is something I truly enjoy, so I build my free time around making sure your pets get the attention, love, and routine they need. We live on a 2 acre wooded lot and I have a fully fenced-in large backyard for secure outdoor time. My two-story home offers lots of space for relaxing, playing, or finding a quiet spot. I’m experienced with crate training and can follow any crate or feeding routines your pet is used to. I have my own 10 month old golden retriever puppy who is well trained, potty trained, and crate trained. She is extremely friendly and will be a great playtime companion!:)

About: I love dogs and grew up with them! Though I don't have the space for them now, I've been missing some puppy playtime! Both of my parents are vets as well, so I'm also pretty well versed in all things pet care! I do work full-time, but a lot of my job can be done from home depending on the amount of notice I have before discussing that with my boss. That being said my weekends are pretty open as well as the occasional monday. I typically work from home every other monday! I love all animals! Growing up I had 2 dogs and then foster failed 2 cats! Those 2 cats currently live with my parents, but I'm bringing them up here when I move into my own place. Both of my roommates also have cats!
About: I recently relocated from Johnstown to McKeesport and am looking forward to meeting all the new pups in the area! I have been dog sitting for the past few years now and absolutely love it! My family has always had dogs since I can remember. I got my first dog, Ruby, named after the children’s show Max and Ruby, when I was 4 years old. I have loved caring for dogs ever since. Ruby is even still kicking at 18 years old! I now have a second dog, a 2 year old Husky who loves to play. I’ve trained many dogs, older and puppies since I can remember. I also have a lot of experience with elderly dogs, Ruby being a prime example. We go on walks often and I have basic dog training experience. I work part-time fully from home. I make my own schedule for work so I am completely flexible. The only time I ever leave the house is to take my dogs somewhere, dog park, hiking trail, etc. I am available every day and do same day bookings so feel free to reach out whenever you need! My dogs are very friendly and love other dogs. We also have 2 cats that play with our dogs as well. I have a fully fenced in yard to give your fur baby plenty of room to run around freely and play.

Olivia came for drop-ins for my two cats twice a day while I was on vacation for about a week and she did a fantastic job! One of my cats needed insulin shots and she proactively came over a few times before the booked time to practice administering the injection to make sure she did it correctly and was comfortable with doing it, which I really appreciated. My other cat also needed a pill and she made sure he took it during every drop-in. She is very communicative and reached out with questions and updates as needed, but for the most part, I was hands-off and knew my cats were in good hands so I could enjoy my vacation. I will definitely be reaching out to Olivia for any future kitty care needs!

Tracie is incredibly reliable and I love that she sends lots of pics. Tracie can buy before our arranged sitting time to meet the dogs. I have two dogs- one of whom can be intimidating with her bark. Tracie was completely unfazed and my dog warmed to her immediately. Highly recommend.

Jessica is a friend you didn't know you had! She made everything smooth and easy. She cated for my cats as if they were her own. Not even the winter storm of the decade kept her away. And she even cleared a path to my house so when I got home after my trip, I wasnt snowed out. She took great pictures and amazing updates. always quick to respond, a very caring person. Hands down best sitter I've had. I couldn't thank her enough. Took away all the stress I would of had during my trip.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
