Highly-rated overnight sitters - Ithaca
“Excellent communication and dog-loving household for boarding. Our dog was well taken care of by Cate and family, who welcomed her along with their 2 nice dogs. Great location for us. Everything worked out great and we'll be returning soon!”

“Aleta was such a delight - warm and loving - my Bailey took to her right away. I totally trust Bailey with her. Henry her dog was such a wonderful playmate - it was sad to separate them! I have used Rovers all across the country with great success - and Aleta really shines!!”

“Laura is fabulous! My dog had a nice time overnight and was well taken care of. I know my dog felt comfortable with Laura because she ate her food while there, and she doesn’t always eat while boarding somewhere, especially someplace new. Laura sent several photos, shared about their potty break and games they played. We anticipate boarding with Laura again.”

“Destiny was referred to me by a friend, and I couldn't have been happier. My dog is a rescue and very attached to people (especially women) and hesitant around other dogs, so I knew he wouldn't do well in a traditional boarding setting - Destiny took excellent care of him, sent photos every day, and kept my mind at ease. Her home was also very clean, and she was very communicative. Will definitely work with her again. Thank you Destiny!”

“We are so grateful to Maxine! She took care of our pup on short notice when we had an emergency. Archie had a great time and we were relieved he was taken care of while we were away.”

“Super grateful I found Ray to dog-sit for Maya! I really did feel like she was on doggy-vacation with all the activities they did. My dog is very active so I am really glad to find someone who will keep up with her energy and take her on lots of fun hikes and swims. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again!”

“Robert and Eileen were so wonderful with our dog Poppy! This was our first time leaving her with a sitter, she usually goes everywhere we do. They made her comfort and care a priority, and we are so grateful for that. She had a wonderful time, and came home exhausted in the best way! Excellent communication and very accommodating, we would certainly book another stay with them!”

“Kathy and Tim took care of Bodie over Thanksgiving week and our pooch had a great stay! We received daily updates and photos and we could tell he felt quite at home. Their dog, Bailey, is well-mannered and friendly to people and other dogs - not a concern at all for Bodie (who's a bit picky about other dogs). We are THRILLED we found a very comfortable and caring home-away-from-home for Bodie and already have plans to bring him back next month. Thank you!!”

About: Hi! My name is Emily and I am a research scientist at Cornell. I absolutely love working with animals, and have loved and raised dogs my entire life, including family pets and Seeing Eye puppies. I have experience with all sizes and ages, so puppies and 100+ pound dogs are no problem. I have also had cats my whole life. I have experience with pet-sitting dogs and cats in my own home and with coming to others' homes . I also love going on walks and would be able to make sure your dog will get all the exercise they need. I look forward to caring for your pets! My time in the research lab is flexible so I can do afternoon feedings and walks. I am available for house sitting services as well. I have lots of experience with house sitting and am very adaptable to your pets’ routine. They will definitely get the care they need whether through check-ins, walks, or house sitting.
“Caroline did a great job taking care of our pets and home for an extended week. We really appreciated all the photos and updates during our trip. The house was super clean when we came back and all our pets and plants were happy. I would highly suggest Caroline for peace of mind while you are away”

“Casper was absolutely wonderful! She communicated with me after each visit, sent pictures, cleaned up messes, and was sensitive to my cat's particular needs. I appreciated her sense of humor and her approachable personality. I would definitely recommend her and plan to book her services again in the future!”

About: I have always lived with pets! :) I grew up with dogs Ella and Koikkie when I was little, and loved walking and playing with them. In college I couldn't have a dog, but I did get my first cat, Oliver. He was more or less feral when we found him but with lots of love and food, he became a lap cat with a happy home on a farm. Two years ago I moved to Ithaca, and have two 3-year old Siberian cats, Nadja and Moose. They need a lot of exercise and play which includes taking them out on leashes to walk around the block. I also frequently cat sit for my friends who have a mix of young and old cats.

“Nadia was wonderful. This was our first time using Rover and our experience with her from start to finish was great. Our kitty is senior and she gave us the peace of mind to enjoy our trip and know that our kitty was being taken care of. Appreciated the regular updates and photos.”

“We are so lucky to have Rachel as our cat sitter. She goes above and beyond and is always very easy to get in touch with. We had our flight cancelled and she was happy to come an additional day to feed and care for the cats. Thank you again Rachel!”

Perfect for high energy dogs - Ithaca
“Kyle took excellent care of my elderly Maltese, Sammy. It was a relief that he was able to take care of Sammy on short notice and give my skittish dog a calm place to stay. He always responded quickly to messages and sent me a picture of Sammy each day. I would happily let him watch Sammy again if we come back to Ithaca.”

“Alex was super communicative before, during, and after Jack’s daycare visit. He made Jack feel very comfortable when we arrived and was attentive to any extra care he’d need as a senior dog. Jack will be back!”

“We were passing through town and needed daycare for our chihuahua. Shihong took Peanut on short notice, picked her up to take her on a walk around the block with his dog, Cotton, and reported back that things were going well! Peanut had a couple accidents in the house and he was unfazed. He was diligent about socializing her to his dog and by the end of the day they were snuggled in the crate together. Wish we could bring Peanut to Shihong every day! Highly recommend.”

“Our puppy loves it at Laura’s house! She loves playing with the other dogs in daycare and she never wants to leave. We are happy to have found Laura to help us care for our young pup!”

“My dog had a fabulous time at daycare with Mikia, her daughter and her dog Zara. I received some great photos (including some funny ones of the dogs wrestling) and felt comfortable knowing the dog was having a good time, socializing and burning off her adolescent energy while I was at work. Highly recommend!”

“Our dog Indy has separation anxiety so we are always hesitant to leave him with others. All of that hesitation melted away when we met Claudia! She is such a caring individual, and she was truly able to get Indy to come out of his shell and relax while staying with her. When I picked Indy up he was calm and relaxed and seemed like he actually wanted to stay with her! And Claudia's communication was excellent as well. All the photos really put our mind at ease.”

“Hiedi was over the top great! She went above and beyond to give my dog Archie a great first daycare experience. She went to lengths to make sure he was comfortable with her dog, and vice versa. He came home totally happy, relaxed and tired. He can't wait to see Hiedi and Kenzi again!!”

“Bianca is a treasure! So happy to have found you. This was the first time using Rover. I was nervous. From the first moment I met Bianca I knew my baby was in very special hands. Bianca is kind, gentle & fun. A true animal lover. Thank you Bianca for giving Gus such a wonderful day❣️”

“I am working out of town and Caterina has been a god send for letting me take my puppy with me during the week. She is tucked away in the country with lots of walks and interactions with other doggy friends, which my girl loves. Highly recommend!”

About: I've cared for dogs of different sizes over the years and I love to cuddle, walk, and pamper pups. We have a fenced in back yard and I like to take long walks with dogs if they're up for it. We have a 4 year old boxer/hound mix who is sweet with people but not great with other dogs. We keep him away from guest dogs, there's lots of room in the house for each dog to have their own space and still get lots of love from me and the family. I work from home and have a very flexible schedule. I take breaks through the day to care for puppies, whether that's a quick potty break, fun walk, or play time with balls and toys. When boarding, I make sure pups get any meds they need, plenty of time outside, and snuggles on the couch (if they're the snuggling type). I know some dogs need longer or shorter walks, and I make adjustments based on what they need.
“Cannot say enough good things about Jennifer! Needed last minute doggy daycare for my boy. Text her the morning of. She was quick to respond. I felt at ease as soon as I pulled in. I knew he would have a good time and he did! Picking up was also flexible. So thankful for Jennifer today!”

I am experienced taking care of a wide range of breeds, ages and sizes over the past years of being on Rover. I have had a dog for around 10 years and dog sit for friends and family! I will maintain any schedules you have and attempt to give your pet some extra loving in your time apart! I’m currently a student so I have classes for around 2 hours Monday-Thursday! Beyond that I will be home with your pet making sure they are happy! I live with 2 other girls who also love animals! Although we live in a townhome there lots of grass and a lovely trail where I can take your furry friend!
“Our dog was nervous at first with being in a new situation. But he immediately took to Destiny. She has a wonderful way with dogs, very gentle and caring. She later let us know that he had settled in nicely. It seems he had a great day - came home tired in a good way. We hope to call on Destiny again.”

About: I have taken care of my own dogs since I can remember. In high school, I walked some dogs in my neighborhood and checked in on them throughout the evening! I have taken care of my own older dogs and have recently been around a lot of puppies, so I know how to take care of both. I am currently in college and have a lot of time to take care of your pet! I would love to get some extra steps in by taking your pet on a walk. I am also new to the area and would love to get to know the community more! I always take my dog on long walks and the same will be true of any walks I take your pets on! I enjoy time playing with all animals and taking care of them!
“Susan kept in touch with me on my dog's first day care try. My dog did not get along with the other dog, so she kept them separated until I could get there to pick my dog up. Susan was very patient with him and kept him company. The problem was my dog and I will contact her again for a solo stay.”

About: I've had dogs my entire life from puppies to rescues! I've also been a grooming salon manager in Ithaca for 7 years. I've cared for many different breeds, ages, temperaments, and quirks all dogs have and I love them all the same. I'm now a stay at home mom missing my daily dog visits! I have two dogs of my own Luke and Yoda. Luke is a 6 year old lab grey hound mix around 35 lbs. He is very loving and playful. Yoda is a 5 year old miniature fox terrier mix who has unlimited energy and is the sweetest snuggler. I'm willing to bathe and groom but it just depends on your dogs hair and size because I do not have a grooming area set up yet in my home, but I'm willing to talk about it! I am home all day with my baby and two dogs of my own so I can give the same care to some extra dogs! I treat every dog as if they are my own. I have lots of extra blankets to make sure they have there own space (i do recommend to bring some of there stuff like blankets, beds, and toys to make them more comfortable) and have extra room to separate them if they need to be alone. I will always make sure they are comfortable, happy, loved, and safe!

“Joey was great with Ruby. They were both attuned to Ruby’s needs and also enthusiastic about being together and sharing time for a walk. Joey has a curiosity about the experience of the animal that lends to a special type of compassion. Looking forward to having them walk Ruby again after I have my baby!”

“My dog spent very good time with Rachel. Rachel is the best dog walker I have ever met. She visited us before we leave and try to learn as much as possible about our dog. She kept us updated about Brownie’s status and always kept an eye on Brownie’s water bowl after every walk. I definitely will come back to Rachel again next time.”

About: As a pre-veterinary student and veterinary assistant, I combine professional animal care experience with my genuine love for our fur babies! I have over 700 hours of experience working in a boarding kennel and animal hospital. My responsibilities included caring for dogs and cats of all ages, breeds, temperaments, and medical needs. Specifically, multiple daily walks, administering daily medications, following detailed feeding and care instructions, monitoring animal health and behavior, and providing enrichment to keep pets mentally and physically engaged. I have experience caring for puppies, senior pets, and animals that may be anxious or reactive. My background in veterinary medicine and current major ensure I am around animals almost every day, so I am sure to recognize changes in behavior or health. In addition to my kennel experience, I have spent years pet sitting for neighbors, friends, and family. My pet-sitting experience helps me provide the individualized care and affection that pets need to feel comfortable while their owners are away. I treat every pet as if it were my own and strive to make both pets and owners feel safe and comfortable with my care. I am currently conducting independently paced research at Cornell’s College of Veterinary Medicine, which gives me a very flexible schedule. Because I set my own hours, I am able to easily incorporate pet care into my daily routine, providing me with the ability to be reliable and attentive to each pet’s individual routine and needs. I have experience caring for dogs of different sizes, ages, and temperaments. I am comfortable with crating, leashing, walking, feeding, administering basic medications if needed, and following any routines provided by the owner. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I strive to prioritize safety, consistency, and most importantly, communication between the owner and me. I make sure doors and leashes are secure at all times, closely monitor pets during walks and outdoor time, and keep them on their normal feeding and exercise schedules. I also provide regular updates so owners can feel confident that their pets are happy and well taken care of while they are away.

About: Hello, my name is Anna and I am excited to care for your pets! I have many years of experience working with animals, from pet-sitting in my home, neighborhood, and campus to volunteering in animal shelters. I am a third-year environmental science student at Cornell University. I have experience administering oral and topical medication to pets, have cared for senior pets, and know how to safely remove ticks. I love hiking and will make sure your energetic pup gets all the exercise they need! I have a car and am happy to bring animals along on adventures. I am a student with a flexible schedule and a car to get me and your animals to where they need to go! Overnight stays are easy for me to do and I often have time for long walks. I can and will care for your pets in any way you need me to! I can easily house sit as well and chauffeur pets to veterinary care or other appointments.

“Kaylee is so sweet and loving to all our dogs. She is super attentive to each one's individual needs, and extra caring of our senior pup with a brace on one of his paws. Due to a family emergency recently, we had to book last minute for a few days -- and they were very helpful, fitting us into their schedule immediately! We are lucky to have found such a great match, making us confident that our dogs are in great hands whenever they go on walks with Kaylee.”

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and caring for them comes naturally to me. Since I was young, I’ve had a genuine love for all kinds of animals, from dogs and cats to more exotic pets. I truly believe every animal deserves to be treated with patience, kindness, and proper care. I currently have two dogs of my own, one rescue and one I’ve raised since a puppy. They are a huge part of my life, and caring for them has taught me the importance of trust, consistency, and understanding each animal’s unique needs and personality. As a pet caregiver, my goal is to provide the same level of love, attention, and quality care that I would want for my own pets. I always strive to create a safe, comfortable, and positive experience for every animal I interact with, while giving pet parents peace of mind knowing their pets are in caring and reliable hands. I currently work nights as a registered nurse, which gives me daytime availability throughout the week to provide attentive and reliable pet care. I am available daily during daytime hours for walks, drop-ins, and quality time with your pets to ensure they are safe, comfortable, and well cared for. Due to my work schedule and commute, I am generally unavailable after 5 PM and overnight, but I work 3 days per week which allows me 4 days to provide care. The days that I work each week do vary, so feel free to contact me for specifics. I pride myself on being dependable, communicative, and fully present during the time I spend caring for each pet. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being are always my top priorities. I understand how important it is to trust someone caring for your pets and being in your home, so I strive to provide dependable, respectful, and attentive care at all times. Because I have a dog at home who is not comfortable around other dogs, I currently focus on dog walking, drop-in visits, and pet sitting in clients’ homes rather than boarding. I believe many pets are most comfortable in their own familiar environment, where they can maintain their normal routine and feel secure while their owners are away. I always take the time to learn each pet’s individual needs, personality, routines, and any safety concerns to ensure they receive personalized care. Whether it’s keeping dogs safely leashed on walks, monitoring behavior and comfort levels, or maintaining a clean and calm environment during visits, I aim to provide loving care and peace of mind for both pets and their owners.
About: [I am only accepting requests for puppies or young/friendly dogs at the moment] I am very detail oriented and I will follow instructions carefully. I believe that exercising dogs both mentally and physically is very important. Since I work from home and have a very flexible schedule, I take my dog, Bear, outside at least 6-8 times per day, and always take him on a long walk (45 min) in the afternoon or evening. I also do at least one basic obedience / trick training session with him. If you want, I can definitely follow the same pattern with your dog, and work on basic obedience training or even teach your puppy a few tricks during the stay at my home. I use Rover myself when I need to travel, so I know how nerve racking it is to leave your fur baby with someone else. Rest assured I will care for your baby, as I would like someone else to care for mine. I am not accepting older dogs / dominant dogs at the moment because my puppy was attacked recently, so to ensure his safety I will only be working with young dogs for the moment. I have a business that I run from home and my schedule is super flexible. I take my dog outside for breaks at least 6-8 times per day, as well as for a long walk (45 minutes) at least once. Since we live close to Buttermilk State Park, we go there often for our walks. I also love to exercise my dog mentally with training sessions. I do them once a day. I would follow this same routine with your puppy if he/she stayed with me. The safety of your puppy is my number one priority. For this reason I require a Meet & Greet for all new clients to ensure my dog and yours will get along. I have a nice sized backyard that is partially fenced. I have a run in place for my dog I often take him there on a leash as well. Your dog will have access to the whole house. I will be supervising your puppy all day, the same way I do mine. I homeschool my 9 year old daughter, so I have a lot of time to care for your puppy. We usually take our own pup, Bear, on walks during the day. I am very detailed oriented. I will follow all your instructions to endure your pet’s safety. I will give all the cuddles and love also ;)
“So incredibly happy to have found Madeline!!!! Nikey adores her. She has great energy, is always down for walks and play time, no matter the weather. Which is amazing bc Nikey is always down for that too. Madeline is flexible and does a fantastic job with instructions. Zero complaints. She’s a keeper!”

About: I have had pets my whole life growing up. I’ve had dogs, cats, fish, and even rabbits! In fact, my mom has 2 dogs (Finley and Millie) that I helped take care of and train for years. Finley is a golden retriever and Millie is a chihuahua so my experience with different dog breeds is very diverse! I love walking dogs and getting to know each of their individual personalities. I’m a very energetic person and I’m so ready to go on long walks and even runs! I'm currently on summer vacation and am only working part-time so all other hours are mostly filled with walking and sitting dogs and spending time with my friends around San Francisco. I'm not busy at all at the moment so I'll make sure to be timely and patient with your animals and give our time together the upmost importance. I always listen to the needs and demands of my client's and their animals! I'm detail-orientated and able to follow a strict schedule insuring that your pets get the exact care that they need! :)
About: I’ve always been a dog person all my life. I just have a way with dogs. Patience is the best way to try your animals. Family members rely on me to feed their animals. Currently working at a grocery store so my hours are always different. When I finish working though I head straight over to where I need to go. Sometimes I head over before I have to work too. I take the animals outside when they need to go to the bathroom. While I’m out there I watch carefully over them. I comfort and pay attention to them. I talk to them like they are humans.
About: I have cat/dog-sitted for a couple of friends on multiple occasions. They were extremely satisfied with my service. Additionally, I have four cats at home! So, I am familiar with taking care of cats. I am a veterinary student at Cornell University. As of currently, I am available all days of the week in the morning as well as the evening. I always make sure the fur baby has fresh water and food. Additionally, I keep the space clean and tidy if the pet made a mess (e.g. near the litter box or water bowls). Lastly, I give new pets time and space to get used to me. I don't invade their personal space and wait for them to make the initiative.

“Charlie came back happy and healthy! Susan kept us well updated without needing to prompt, which was much appreciated while we were tied up on vacation it was nice to see he was being well cared for.”
“Did an amazing joke with taking care of my boy. I had to run out of town last minute so I am grateful for the quick response and willingness. I got some pictures and good communication”

About: For any and all services I provide I will be seeking guidance from the pet owner for preferred handling as people treat their pets differently (allowed on furniture, leash vs off leash, feeding times, etc.) Most of my pet sitting experience has been at their home and i have cared for up to four dogs and two cats (plus chickens and fish). I have also babysat for a cat and a few different dogs at my place. I enjoy an active lifestyle and live near state lands so lots of hiking is usually on the agenda (for dogs anyway). I recently put down my aging cat and have found life is lonely without him, but I am not ready to replace him just yet. Rover seems like a great way to get my fix and earn some extra money along the way. I work full time Monday through Friday and have hour long lunch breaks if midday breaks are needed for your pets. Weekends are for serious play! I live on a low traffic road near a state forest. Access to trails from my back door and a large (unfenced) yard to roam. When staying in someone’s home I treat it like my own with care.
“I appreciate how confident, chill, and comfortable Jenny is around dogs! My dogs hate being kenneled so having a run with space to play, sniff, dig, rest, and be part of a pack is great for them!”
