About: I have been a veterinary nurse at an AAHA accredited hospital for the last 6 years, and prior to that, worked at an additional hospital as well as a pet store with exotics. About: I grew up with dogs as family pets and have always considered myself a “dog person.” My family had a sheepdog, a black lab, and a Scottish sheepdog, which helped shape my lifelong love for animals. About 30 years ago, I met my wife, a true cat person through and through, and over time I happily transitioned into becoming a devoted cat lover as well. Over the years, my wife and I have shared life with three cats, even taking them on leash walks around the neighborhood—yes, I am proudly that person now. Bella, my 18-year-old super senior cat, just lost her struggle with kidney disease and we miss her dearly. My wife and I spoil our animals all the time. Our cats have always been like children to us and the bonds we build with our animals over the years have been deeply meaningful. I believe animals teach unconditional love, friendship, and have a beautiful way of offering comfort exactly when it’s needed most. In addition to caring for my own pets, I have spent years looking after neighbors’ chickens, rabbits, dogs, cats, hamsters, and even a rat! After 13 years of teaching English at a nearby Early College, I recently retired from education and am excited to begin this new chapter with Rover. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. When I am not caring for animals, I run a professional mountain biking guide service in Asheville called Pisgah Mountain Bike Adventures. I didn't have a dog growing up but I frequently cared for my neighbors Great Pyrenees. My first dog as an adult was a rescue coonhound mix and my current dog is a purebred Redbone Coonhound. I have experience with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and personalities by working at a dog boarding/ day care. I would supervise groups of 10 dogs at a time, maintaining a safe and playful environment. My love for our 4-legged friends is forever growing. I have a passion for sharing my love with every pet that I meet. I try to give my pup the best life that I can and I hope to do the same for many others! I’m currently working a part time job so I have plenty of time to spend with your pets. My schedule is flexible for both day time and overnight. I value incorporating exercise and adventure into my daily life and I would love to bring your pet along with me! Safety in the comfort of your home: I provide dog walks in your neighborhood and longer trail walks if desired. I always keep dogs leashed for safety while encouraging as much play at possible. Safety in the warmth of my home: I have a very sweet and cozy space. I do not have a fenced in yard but I do have a long leash for potty breaks and I live in a great neighborhood where I walk dogs regularly. I love taking pups on field trips to hikes near by and of course always enjoy cozy cuddle time. I am comfortable following any feeding or medication needs as directed. I am happy to do a meet and greet before sitting to make sure that we’re the best fit for each other.
